  1. Yeah, he does seem a bit mistransformed, I'll be that the stub wings flip down to become skirt armor, instead of staying out the way they're shown.
  2. I was a regular on G.Com, first under this name, later as Shin_Kudou. I gained some fame for often arguing with Valkyrie Pirate Rene and his goon squad on political issues (and chasing him off MW before he managed to get five posts ), And some respect for a couple of kitbashed and scratchbuilt items. Despite the wingers and newbies, there was a core group of good posters, like Mark Simmons and his followers, that did lead to good threads. We had some quite good discussions on subjects like artificial gravity, beam weaponry, and Minovsky Physics, that aren't really matched by anything buy the similar discussions we have on the Valkyrie's technical issues here. Additionally, there was a lot of good info on new releases and such to be found on G.com. I've found myself a lot less informed since its collapse.
  3. Didn't we just have this same discussion about a week ago?
  4. Well, you have to realize that the high end airsofts aren't just for collectors. With a real gun, you can't exactly shoot at each other and walk away from it. Real guns are much harder to get. Real guns are loud, whereas you can fire an airsoft in your backyard or whatever with no problem. And that 15.00 bag of pellets contains 5000 rounds. One thing you also have to realize is that airsofts are most popular in Japan, where you simply can't (legally) get a real gun. Plus, you can have the fun of full auto assault rifles with airsoft, something very hard to obtain in California. And, when you really thing about it, a Tokyo Marui AEG, which can be had for as little as 200 bucks, is really no more expensive than a quality paintball gun. And, by the way, if you think airsofts are light and plastic, you should check out some of the high end stuff. My new 93r, while mostly plastic, is a special "heavy weight" plastic that has a metal content, making it weigh nearly as much as the real steel, and some components are real steel, like the magazine. And it's pretty dang solid, too. You could probably use the thing as a hammer. And, Duke, by the way, what's the problem? You can't stand to see an O/T thread stick around for a couple of hours?
  5. I figured that we had that real weapons thread a while back, so I'd start an Airsoft one. Anyways, who on MW is an airsofter? Or who just likes, collects, whatever, airsoft? I'm just getting into the sport. I had a coupl eof springers, and one gas, but nothing too good. Today, however, I bought my first real battle worthy gun, a KWA, gas, fully automatic, Beretta M93r. It's got great power and accuracy, and good ammo capacity, so it could stand up to AEG assacks quite well. And it's mobility is great in a CQB situation. I'll take a pic or two next week when my Treo comes. So, other airsoft owners, what do you guys have? And how into it are you. And, by the way, I know one of the SoCal guys is pretty hardcore. Where do you guys play? I'd be interested in coming on a walk-on day, if they have them at one of the fields around.
  6. What I'd really like are some FMP mecha figures.
  7. Odd... I wonder why it's the last-gen 'Vette, and not the new one.....
  8. The answer is to just accept that this movie is not Eva. It's just similar. Just like how Macross does not equal RT, and vice versa.
  9. Yeah, these PSAs are hilarious. I especially love the "busridah" one. I would freak out if there was a wierd guy standing outside my window singing reggae at me..... There were a couple I'd never seen there, too. The cliff one is simply hysterical.
  10. Don't forget, though, 3500 is the whole suit, and it's painted. With a stormtrooper suit or a Jin-roh suit, it can be molded mostly in color. But these Halo armors are painted in a high gloss, high quality, finish. Also, don't forget the fact that it has lighting. I'd buy one, but 3500 is a lot of money for me, and it's money better spent on an S13 240SX.
  11. Interestingly enough, as much as I like SG1, I haven't seen SG itself. I guess I should go rent it.
  12. My younger brother got the AE gundam today, at Target. (I was busy ripping an FC3S apart at a junkyard, in search of an exhaust manifold, in case anyone is wondering) It's pretty cool. Nice articulation and proportions, good accessories, good paint. All in all, a solid release.
  13. Ouch! hey anyone know the date for doom 3? Yeah, shortly after Duke Nukem: Forever!
  14. I love SG1. IMO, it's the best TV series currently in production.
  15. You could always go Takara in box, Hasbro out.
  16. I'm going tonight to buy an 87 FC3s GTU! Well, I'm not the one buying, but it's the new car of a team member!
  17. Hey, Yellowlightman, do you have a rotary? I'm just wondering, you seem to be a fan of the engine. For that matter, so am I. I seriously considered an FC3s, but decided that there was just too much uncertianty in buying a 15 year old car with no knowledge of whether the rotary was properly treated.
  18. I had a COmbat Digi-Q set. (Panzer, T-34) They were really cool. Yes, they had a "lazer tag" system, which worked flawlessly. And they could climb up anything. You could drife them into a wall and they'd climb straight up and flip onto their backs, they were so powerful. Unfortunately, a family friend stepped on one, and my stupid brother drove the other one off a staircase and it plumetted to its death.
  19. By the way, when the first news was released, the helmets were supposed to be custom made for the orderer. That could explain the high expense.
  20. ooh, I want! I actually really like the color scheme! The Gundam Shield is a little odd, though.
  21. John Kelly? John kelly never existed. And he's of no relation at all to John Clark........ So, a fan of Without Remorse, huh?
  22. I really want to build one of those mechs.... But, how about 1/2 or even 1/1 scale? And it wouldn't be hard to make the arms and waist mobile.
  23. Now wait just a second! Yes, there is a lot of plastic in some airplanes. But the average private or commercial aircraft is almost all aluminum and other alloys. There's not a lot of CF in a 737, and certainly not in a Cessna. Some things, however, do have quite a bit more, like the newesr light aircraft, or the next-gen airliners, like the 7E7. But most planes MW members will be in are metal.
  24. Dom. A design that fits perfectly with the retro styling of the Kadou Senshi line, and that is sorely lacking an authentic but still poseable representation in a figure form. And it's a design that would allow for ample diecast. Another that I'd like to see, and that would be quite easy for Bandai to make, is the Gouf. It'd be a piece of cake, as they already have the quite similar Zaku II. The same goes for a Zaku I. Another possibility is the Gelgoog, but that is a design that has been quite popular and has a number of quite good representations made. Nu and Sazabi are newer designs. To me, the appeal of the KS line is that the MS have the same appearance as in the original series, rather than being totally updated. There are several versions of the CCA mecha, including quite good MSiAs, that accurately represent them. Qubeley also has an almost brand-new MSIA of it. And it, too, has a more modern look that doesn't quite fit the KS line.
  25. Just go to Best Buy instead. They actually have reasonable prices on their DVDs. Usually <$20.
