Cartoon Network "Miguzi" block
Commander McBride replied to Anubis's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
When I first read it, I thought it was Mizugi, or "swimsuit," which makes no damn sense either... Same here. I was picturing one of those blue school uniform swimsuits that Japanese schoolgirls wear. -
And now we shall only know ye
Commander McBride replied to the white drew carey's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You want to know why it's been killed? Because it's a Boeing/Sikorsky project. For decades, the US military has had a relationship with Lockheed that has caused them to favor Locheed over other suppliers. Look at the ATF competition, the Lockheed F-22 was chosen over the much superior YF-23. Look at the lack of funding for Boeing's Osprey. How about the superior (and cooler, IMO) YF-32, passed over in favor of the F-35, manufacturered by (you guessed it), Lockheed. The only odd exception I can find it the Navy's preference for the Boeing F/A-18 over Northrup/Grumman's (part of Lockheed now?) F-14 series. Maybe the Navy has some sort of connection with Boeing? -
I'm glad I'm, not the only one having problems with aiming. Strangely, though, the game runs great on my PC, which is odd, as I can't run BF1942 anymore.

I can totally understand that. In her position, I'd much rather be known for my later works that one TV series I did a stint on 20 years ago.

Disturbing MSG images
Commander McBride replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yes! The wing senshi!!! That picture is so hilarious! I've actually met the artist on several occasions, too. Call us wierd, but a couple cosplayers and I (for the most part, the same group that did the Initial D group at Ani-Magic) have been contemplating doing this very cos (cross?) play for a while now. It may be a little odd, but it's bound to be hilarious! (we're even thinking of making fun of Sailor Jamboree and performing a song or two! ) Oh, yeah, that third pic is hilarious, too. -
Got a few mils to blow?
Commander McBride replied to Jolly Rogers's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I love the way they say "1986 Mig 29", as if it were just a used car or something. On another note, check out the other auctions. Who the heck buys 4.4 mil worth of cable on eBay? The shipping on the stuff must be horrendous! -
Wow, that's unbelieveable! I had no idea that anyone so important to making Macross what it is lived in the US, much less LA! I also notice, on her site, that she performed at some of the festivals in Little Tokyo. Next one that comes up, I'll have to keep an eye out for her. Never thought I'd have a chance to see a live performance of DYRL!

Lift on the bootlegging/pirating ban
Commander McBride replied to Duke Togo's topic in MW Site News & Member Feedback
Importing Yamato products is like buying the Japanese release DVD sets, not like buying a boot. Which leads to my opinion on the situation. I think that boots should be fair game in cases where either the series/movie is unavailable in english (or subtitled, in the case of series like MS Gundam) any other way, or in the rare cases in which the official importer has done such a horrible job that it becomes important to avaid supporting the product. (For example, Tokyopop's treatment of Initial D) -
Wait, that's not generally true either. Generally, text is read left to right, but you read from the right panel to the left one. (on the same page, that is). And when a character in a panel speaks first, that speech bubble will be to the right of one who is replying.

IIRC, wasn't it actually originally created to promote Bandai's line of SD macross models? That's the story I'd always heard.

Armored core. For some reason, also the SV-51.

I'm really liking #1. I think that, in this situation, we've gotta go with a Mikimoto work. The others just don't have that Macross feel to them. Plus, his work will look great on the aluminum. However, a few months ago, someone posted a tweaked version of that image, in which the heavy green emphasis was changed to a blue one, which IMO looked better, and would look great on the box. As for the image not quite fitting, I had a thought about that, too. Why not just have the leterboxes plain black and put in "Macross World" (macross on top, world on the bottom) in bare aluminum. Maybe have the text flanked by the MW logo and the UNS logo.

Having a store with that many gundam kits at realistic prices is probably my #2 mecha freak dream. #1 would be being one of those people that can afford to buy every kit and figure that comes out, and just stashes them away until they are needed. I just love the idea of having a well stocked anime store in my basement!! But, back on topic, it's really incredible what these JDM TRUs have just lying around. The thing that really got me was the picture (not here) of row after row of FIX figs.

Harmony Gold & Toynami releasing DYRL? Toys
Commander McBride replied to Duke Togo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Something occurred to me, reading this thread. Maybe it might not be a bad thing after all. Maybe it's something like this: BW grants HG a license for DYRL, and possibly other works. But, in return, HG will cease their attempts to prevent BW merchandise and animation from entering foreign markets, and will allow HG Macross products to be officially imported, unmolested, into those markets. -
What is your Metal Gear code name?

Arch Enemies Gundam RX-78-2
Commander McBride replied to Vostok 7's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
LMAO, that's so funny, because I rewrote Trogdor as a Gelgoog theme, about six months ago!!! -
Reflective water isn't enabled. However, there's a mod available somewhere that enables it. There are also mods, by the way, to allow you to get around to the areas where the helos usually kill you, and one that enables the hang glider and the humvee.

I was disappointed when I played Steel Batallion at Ani-Magic. On the other hand, I had been awake for 40-something hours, and had had the better part of a bottle of Jack's and a generous helping of Sake, so my perception of things was a bit wierd....

everybody knows the Yamato 1:1 Helmet
Commander McBride replied to Nightbat's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Oh no? Is that an airsoft? I guess it's about time for someone to get this thread closed, then..... -
Didn't he come on here shortly after the new forums started up, cause some trouble, and get summarily banned? In fact, wasn't he posing as someone else when he did it?
-
Wish I could watch it.... But BT never gets above 1kb/s, with very few exceptions.

LOL, RT.com is pretty funny, for a little while. Then it just gets stupid. It honestly makes G.com look like the dominion of some of the greatest minds in the universe.

This game seems cool, but the controls are wierd. It feels almost comparable to a console shooter. I just have a lot of trouble getting the guns accurately pointed at enemies. No matter how much I fiddle with the sensitivity, either it feels sluggish or not accurate enough. It feels, I'm not sure how to describe it, kind of like trying to do presicion work while wearing thick gloves, you know?
-
For god's sake, man, what the hell is your problem? I knew well that it would be closed in a day or two. Why couldn't you just leave it alone? You're not a mod, stop pretending to be one. Who the hell is hurt by having one damned OT thread up for a little while?

Very nice, I must say! Unbelievable work taking that old kit and turning it into a real work of art! Absolutely the best Mospeada I've ever seen, model or toy.
