  1. Obviously, transforming valks are cool and we all know and love the designs of the valks that followed the VF-1. But, for in-story purposes, if the VF-1 was designed to transform into battroid so it could effectively fight the zentran (and gerwalk and its hybrids are mere "midpoints" to that end), why do future designs also transform? Because the Zentran must still be a threat. We've heard about "rogue" zentran mentioned in M-Plus and there's always the DYRL and M7 (Fleet of the Strongest Women) reference to other fleets (though the latter would seem to indicate they're not usually that large) besides Bodolzas. But investing time and money in variable fighter design must indicate they're still a major threat, right? Anyway, probably pretty obvious, but figured I'd poll it.

    VF-4 Lighting

Just like with the VF-1, 1/60 to be the guinea pig at lower cost and size and then do it "right" (and more limited, detailed, and bling) at 1/48.
  3. Chuuuunky! Would a pilot be able to put his valk in such a... "mode?" Old TV style controls, I could see someone not moving the lever all the way or mixing them up ("G" and "B" part way), but dunno how a DYRL-style pilot could...
  4. I think I'd rather have a variation of the FAST packs in Low-Viz scheme. Maybe something like the "real thing" (for the F-15) that maintains aerodynamics but is add on fuel and sensor type stuff... in the form of armor for the valkyrie. That would basically mean the boosters would be gone IIRC. But leg and arm armor of some type would still be possible, just a bit more aerodynamic...
  5. 7. VF-19S and VF-19 Kai, VF-22S, VF-17D/S, VF-11C, Armored VF-11, Varuta mecha and most of all what I want to see... Battle Seven! But I'd probably be happy with a compromise VF-X/2 license.
  6. Definately GBP. Though my 2nd choice is a Low-Viz VF-1J. 3rd... Regult, definately Regult.
  7. Heh, yeah pretty funny, but even funnier (?) is that i'm actually getting used to it (looking all over Yamato's web page, in addition to other interests... Honda Japan, Mugen Co, Ltd, etc). I think one can get the basic point from babelfish... and get a good laugh in the meantime. I saw the next pages but just posting a translation here woudln't work. Someone needs to translate each page with the captions next to their respective pictures. You're welcome... well wasn't much effort really... just a copy and paste.
  8. Well lacking the problems of the -1A. Or more positively, having the improvements of the Max and Low-Viz.
  9. Nice. Looks pretty extensive to me... Here's what Bablefish says: With little remodelling and mark VF-1 in perfection deformation! Technology it does not enter. If with just guts you can remodel (the husband) there is a tool of that appearance simply anyone, even nature it does not need! As for remodelling method with next explanation/learning explanation/releasing. A low vis VF-1J?

    Yes, definately give me a Low-Viz VF-1J!
  11. Loving my Low-Viz (and planning on either Hikaru VF-1S or Max 1A if I can get a good deal on the latter), but 1/60 is still my "main" line. Not only are the 1/60 more affordable, but they're also more portable. Having neglected my Hikaru Super VF-1J since I got the YF-21FP (and more recently the Low-Viz), I was recently playing around with it and noticed how cool it was too. And its alot smaller, fits in your hands, and all that. Course, it also sparked my thread on why not improve the 1/60 line with 1/48 type improvements (air brake, flaps, etc). They're not as refined as the 1/48, but thats kinda the point. Yamato has to give us more when we pay more (alot more in the case of 1/48). I want a SQUADRON of nicely sculpted valks small enough to not gobble up my shelf space (and destroy my bank account ) and the 1/60 are perfect for that job IMO. PLUS, they have a large variety of relatively low cost toys and will have enemy mecha in scale.
  12. Definately 2051+ with the VF-19 as the cannon fodder and the VF-22 as special ops with the new next generation Valk(s) coming out. Though an OVA about VF-X2 sounds cool too.
  13. The "boobies" were where Mylene's speakers were. Man, I don't even have to make any inuendos with that!

    New and Improved 1/60

Why should Yamato be stuck on one size/scale? If the 1/48 are the "Perfect Grade" of their Macross line (in price, size, and quantity), why not have another line thats more affordable, etc? The 1/48 is incredible, and I love mine, but far to expensive (and even a bit too large) to compete with the 1/60 in any of those 3 quantities. The trick is in the exact numbers, of course, but Yamato would best be served by having multiple lines aimed at different niches. A banpresto-esque line of minimal size and price, aimed mostly for the kiddies. Mid-level line (1/60). And high price, large line (1/48) for the collector (and baller). The best possible detail and quality at each level would be desired, if not just for company pride, then simply to make sales they otherwise wouldn't. Having one exclusive line (especially the 1/48) is just gonna leave some people by the wayside who would have bought less expensive and/or smaller versions.
  15. Hmm... are you interested in how many FAST packs we're gonna have, Graham? Or is the other thread sufficient for that?
  16. Only noticed one thing wrong with my Low-Viz so far and thats one of the landing gear "lights" (orange clear plastic piece) falls out. Simple fix, but thought I'd chime in for posterity.

    New and Improved 1/60

I don't mean resculpt the 1/48 in 1/60 scale (though that would be really cool IMO!), but add tweaks like the airbrake, flaps (though i'd prefer seperate flaps and ailerons). removable radome, intake covers (with intake detail under, of course), and backpack antenna to the exiting 1/60 sculpt for future releases (and/or re-releases). I was playing around with my Hikaru Super VF-1J and noticed there shouldnt' be anything about the smaller size that would negate the possibility. Hell, even Bandai 1/55's could have the airbrake. Same with the intake/turbine detail and the intake covers. Even the telescoping feet could be done on 1/60 sized legs, though naturally that would involve resculpting and retooling them. Though that would lead into just using the 1/48 design at 1/60 scale. Which I wouldn't disaprove of, either. This naturally assumes the 1/60 line is not dead after the Q-rau. Any thoughts?
  18. I'd like something 2051 and beyond myself. Maybe seeing Isamu... or his child or something and the "next generation" valk. Maybe a more mature UN Spacy with "cannon fodder" VF-19B's and "special ops" VF-22's with a new experimental VF on the scene... Enemy... some strange alien (naturally with transforming mecha) or something. I've never been much interested in "filling in the gaps" in VF development (VF-4, etc), though. I'm kinda doubting this is a macross series, though.
  19. Wow, I was all ready to scoff at the original post... but now Graham's post is making me raise an eyebrow.
  20. Definately. Midnight showing on an IMAX screen (though not in IMAX format, it must be said). I'm not as miffed about Shelob being absent from the Two Towers movie as I am about Gandalf (and company) returning to Isengard (and the whole lacking of any hint of Saruman's betrayal of Sauron, but that's a larger issue). I'm really not expecting the Paths of the Dead to be on screen at all. The rest of the Dunedain of Arnor... I don't believe there's been a single reference to Arnor in the movies. It's always been "just" Gondor. So I don't expect to see Halbarad at all. RotK is really a much shorter book if you don't count the appendices. Most of the Arwen/Aragorn tale seems to be inspired from there. Replacing Glorfindel with Arwen was atrocious IMO, but unfortunately understandable. Just as bad was the deception of the Ents instead of their conscious decision to enter the conflict... and the replacement of the huorns with the elves. But I won't even get started on the fact that Aragorn STILL has not reforged the sword!
  21. Definately the second pic for Low-Viz. Nice work.
  22. You can read Graham's rewview of the Hikaru VF-1A and find that the intake cover and a whole missile cluster (disassembled) will fit in one of the "boxes" of the UMM-7. I've independently tested this and can confirm.
  23. I agree on the VF-2SS and VF-2JA but still think the Metal Siren looks cool, too. As far as the looks of the Metal Siren, I rather like them. Very Gundam-ish looking but not without reason. The head-sheild, for example and the other assorted weaponry (particularly the melee weapon thing that goes on the nose in fighter and gerwalk but on the arm in battroid for stabbing and that plasma ball effect thingy that destroid the Marduk cap ship). Seems to me to have everything a future advanced valk would have (well except for a fold booster, internal or no). Though I'd prefer a head laser or 4.
  24. Damn... might have to get another Low-Viz while the getting is still good. Anyone go to Frank & Sons yesterday and still see it there? I was JUST thinking that I wanted a "wingman" for my Low-Viz... I'd be willing to buy another Low-Viz in another head, too.. preferably -1J IMO. As far as non-limited... I would hope it was the same "shade" of "low-viz."

    Macross Zero

You might as well make a post, since I'm also curious what's wrong w/ the Hasegawa... not that I'm interested in models (non transforming particularly). Me, I'm inclined for a good 1/48 F-14 mode and use a sticker or two of the UN Spacy "kite" emblem that were extra from my low-viz...
