  1. Yup. I'm interested to see where there going with it. It's no Star Wars prequel or anything, tho.

    Yamato Destroids

I want em all. Well I want Macross II's Phalanx II more than anything. But having virgins deliver them by hand rules. The Monster is too big, though, so probably won't get it. EDIT: Unless it's relatively cheap. If it's ordinary 1/60 valkyrie price... (it should be mostly plastic... it doesn't transform... how much detail can the thing have?)... if it's more expensive than a 1/48 simply because it's big, then I think it's too expensive. I'll MAKE room if it's worth it's price IMO. I definately want them in 1/60 scale!
  3. Heh. Supply and demand is all it is. They'd get much more reliable figures on what they could charge in better ways than eavesdropping on an internet forum that is hardly representative of their main market (Japan). Now if you're talking HLJ or the Valkyrie Exchange... there would still be better ways. B)
  4. Exactly. Having Ivano Gunther be a girly man is much more logical (and consistent with anime) than Geperenich needlessly alterning Ivano's body. Other than being "merged" there weren't any visible alternations to Ivano's body... it'd be senseless for female breasts to be removed. The tentacles were extensions of Geperenich's "normal" Evil series body. As far as the armor... it's not like Ivano Gunther wore armor like that before possession, so thats not relevant to whether he was a man (much less woman) before. I know they talk about Ivano Gunther during "Spiritia dreaming"... are there any gender pronouns in the Japanese as the two talk about him (Irane and whatever the guys name that Gigil possessed?)?
  5. Chuuuunky! Jetfire back in the day. Was all set to get a Bandai reissue Hikaru VF-1J... but decided against when my gf got me the Yamato 1/60 Hikaru Super VF-1J.
  6. Um... it would be the very last episode. You clearly see the upper half of Ivano Gunther's body while "joined" with Geperenich, particuarly when Sivil attacks after rescuing Basara from the crumbling VF-19 Kai IIRC. I'll have to check it when I get home in a couple hours to be more specific than that... They looked like firm male pecs to me (he must've worked out before Protodevlin possession)... not nice female breasts. Man, just typing that almost makes me feel dirty.
  7. Yes, it's great. It's the international edition, so the ending is slightly different and one or two scenes (it was just just edited out of the American version supposedly). Extras... the commentary is hilarious. Arnold starts by introducing himself as John Milius (the director) and the other guys fakes an Arnold accent. Then he Arnold says something like "... and if you believe THAT, den you believe dere are Richard Simmons JUNIAHS running around too HA HA HA!!!" And he also calls the director a "Sick Bastard" at the infamous "hand soup." And he also makes a comment along the lines of "I get laid alot in dis movie!" The included documentary, "Conan Unchained" is very nice too. I'll only offer one spoiler. Milius recounts that when Arnold met Dino de Laurentis for the first time... his introduction was "what does such a small man need with such a big desk??" or something like that. Its great. Good details of the production, filming, reactions... and also about John Milius' original intent for what was to be a Conan Trilogy (it DIDNT include what became Conan the Destroyer).
  8. Ivano Gunther was male. Though looked quite female. I dont know if the Protodevlin could be considered as having a sex. Sivil certainly seemed female... Gigil male... and Goram and Zomd seemed like male and female... well one of 'em each. I could Glavil going either way... the monstrous ones, Geperenich and Guravil don't seem to go either way really...
  9. Crawling around this site (and using babelfish) gave some interesting reads. Particularly where it translates: <<- The protagonist is inaugurated as the captain of the purple platoon! The protagonist character which becomes the offshoot of the prayer, as a 7th machine pilot of the terrestrial unified command skull battalion appearance to the game. When the game advances, it is assigned in the "purple platoon", becomes the captain.>> I've left off the worst of the Babelfish Engrish... though a bit about the "aggressive controller Emma" has an interesting connotation to it...
  10. OMG this game looks incredible! I liked it looks before, but this movie with the DYRL music just brought it home. And I'm LOVING that you can apparently use the VF-0, SV-51, YF-19, and ***YF-21*** in the game, even for a Versus mode (which would be more appropriate). It would be even better if there were other valkyries in there too... VF-19A/F/S, VF-22S, VF-11B/C, VF-17D/S just to make it complete... Maybe this game IS what we've been waiting for. Now I wish Bandai would import (ram it down HG's throat if necessary). this game so i can know what the hell is going on and enjoy the story of the game, as well! Nice.
  11. Well the Meltran's list didnt have the GBP in it, for example. But yeah, let's not go there (at least to rehash the controversy bit). I do wish she had hung around here, though I don't miss the "insider" bit. Still any source of Yamato news is nice because Yamato had to be such a... well... Japanese... company. I really want 1/60 scale M-Plus (and VF-X!) Valkyries. 1/72 is ok to keep me happy until then. 1/48 is just too large given the size of these things in proportion with the VF-1. What I want FIRST is something we should already have. VF-22S, VF-X2 edition. Parts are already sculpted. I should hope these could be 2004 after the YF-19FP (along with a VF-19A based off the new YF-19) and a VF-19S FP. Then give us a VF-17D and S. These don't have to be in M7 schemes though that'd be nice. The best thing is that even a VF-11C should be done pretty cheaply off of the existing VF-11B FP mold. Use white plastic and minor sculpting/tooling differences. Then we have we have the Full Armored VF-11C. THEN all of that can be re-done in 1/60 with all the detail and gimmicks of the 1/48 valks.
  12. I'm only collecting 1/60 and 1/72. I do get the occassional 1/48.
  13. I'd definately want a version of the SE. Just w/o the stuff I don't like and the stuff I do, of course. 5.1 (and/or DTS though I'm not sure if LFL does this?) and THX cert will be w/o a doubt of course... even if it just going by the official release standards of Ep 1 and Ep 2. As far as what mean and you want... that doesn't matter at all. What George wants to put on the DVD, George is gonna have put on the DVD. And I'll bet you still buy it.

    YF-21 FP

Um... It's pretty simple. They only go in and out from the "open side" of the Fast Pack, though. To push out? Start at the barrel end. Closer to the end, but for the sake of simplicity I'll say on the very tip. Just push it straight, as hard as u need to. On mine there is no resistance at all beyond the "click" it needs. Then the back just falls out. To put in, makse sure u put the back/stock end in first and then push it in till it "clicks." Just FTR, the gunpod should be collapsed. Um and "edge" end out. Dont wanna insult your intelligence or anything but just making sure. I really don't see how this is an issue unless u have some sort of defect or something...
  15. I really DON'T expect there to be a bunch of super duper limited different versions of the SW DVD's. IIRC, the only time a different VHS edition came out was when the previous one was out of production, usually with something a little different to try to entice new people. There won't be any spoilers/sneak preview this time to entice anyone. As a purchaser of bootleg SE DVDs (best $40 I ever spent for the 3!), they're just holding me over until the Real Thing is out. I fully intend to buy the platinum encrusted Limited Edition set with 1-6 in widescreen, of course, with all the features and more of the Ep1 and 2 DVDs. Noone can deny there is good content on those things. As far as the SE themselves, I like them for the most part. [fanboy/] I dont like Greedo shooting first. I do kinda like the Jabba part (even though it's redudant). I love the improvements to the dogfighting over the Death Star. I like seeing the ice monster thing, even though its impotent roaring is kind of silly. I didnt like the woosie Luke scream. I missed Vader's simpler "Get my shuttle" line instead of the bit about getting his Star Destroyer ready. I like the original thing better than "Jedi Rocks." I like the "yub-yub" song but also like what they replaced it with. [/fanboy]
  16. Damn it. I KNEW I should have grabbed one of the old ones with the fiery shroud off ebay. Even for $150.
  17. T2: We can change the future. T3: Kinda, but you're wrong. To like the ending of T2 you have to ignore the fact that if they stopped judgement day, then there would be no reason to send Kyle back to save John's mom from the first terminator. Well T2 deliberately changed its ending from its original/alternate (which most of us SHOULD have seen the Ultimate/Extreme edition DVDs, right?) so that the ending was specifically ambiguous instead of "happy." As Cameron himself explains in the commentary of that alternate ending, avoiding Judgement Day wasn't going to be a one-time thing but a never-ending battle. As Max pointed out, it would create a paradox to avoid it completely. What I liked about T3's ending was the misdirection. I didn't like the retcon that Skynet wasn't centralized. But I can live with it. IIRC, it contradicts something Reese said about destroying Skynet itself and about how they had already won the war, which is why the first Terminator and T1000 were sent back in time to begin with. Plus as Reese also said (and that I can specifically recall) is that there would have been NO need to kill Conner in the future because they had already won. Thus why did Arnie bother to kill the future Conner? Maybe Skynet got spiteful? There ARE things I didnt' like about the rest of T3, too... mostly continuity/retcon's but they CAN be explained by time travel gobbledygook, I suppose. Still, on the whole I think it's a great movie and I liked the ending.
  18. It's basically a direct sequel (of sorts) to T2. IIRC (been awhile), you're visitors at Cyberdyne. They have a rep who talks down to u as a bunch of the great unwashed on a tour of their facility. As it happens, Sara & John Connor do a terrorist raid on the facility. But the T1000 comes and attacks them during it. Arnold's terminator comes, of course, to save the day again. They get caught in some sort of temporal thing that sends them to them to the future at the same place (IIRC), Cyberdyne where Skynet is housed (IIRC, in contradiction to T3's unlocalized 'iNt4rW3B' Skynet). Um... then the "T-X" is some sort of T1000 that's huge and more like an octopus. Arnold's terminator manages to blow it up (along with Skynet), which happily sends the audience (and Sara & John) back to where they came from. Basically its' similar to T2. John is kinda brave (or lost) and the Terminator keeps protecting him while they're being pursued by the T1000. Then they go from the frying pan into the fire (first to exoskeleton infantry types then to the T-X). They have screen clips of the "real" actors telling stuff to the audience while the stunt-extra's lip-synch and run around.
  19. I'd like to see 1/60 (yes 1/60) scale low visibility -1A and -1J.
  20. I have both. The plastic on the bootleg is cheaper IMO. Plus they got some of the "detail" (such as it is) from the Bandai wrong on the bootleg. I also got the wrong head (a VF-19S head) on my boot "Fire" valk, but I thought that was a good thing. IMO, it's what Milia's VF-19S would look like.
  21. My gf got me the 1/60 Hikaru Super VF-1J and the 1/72 YF-21 FP (seperately). Yeah, she's great. To get it right... i babble alot about what i'm interested in and "wow, guess what's coming up now" along with the occassional hyperlink to HLJ or the Valkyrie-Exchange to get them at. IIRC, she got both at the latter (thanks Kevin!). We've recently been hitting Frank & Sons, too.

    YF-21 FP

Hmm oddly enough I've never had ANY transformation problems with the YF-21FP. Not the ones here or the ones Graham had in his review. Well Gerwalk is awkward but I dont like Gerwalk much in the M-Plus valks (and it's my fav mode for the VF-1). Easier than 1/60 VF-1 IMO. Backpack. Make sure it's secure. Then use the back latch thing that the leg covers attach to... bring it down over the other part of the back, and the pegs act as a sort of "locking mechanism." Hopefully that makes sense. Legs? "Snap" in battroid? AFAIK they just hang there. Unless u mean the back clip to the front of the torso? To get them IN the fuselage for fighter, (open then covers of course): 1st make sure they're turned around the right way. Basically should be turned 180 degrees from the direction they would be to be facing "front" while in battroid mode. 2nd. Bend the knee so its one or two "clicks" bent with knee forward (so "calf area" clicked back). 3rd, put the long end of the feet in first and then straighten the leg out. It should be inside the rear of the fuselage. Lower the covers. Voila. HTH

    1:60 GBP-1 !?

First, it's important to remember it's NOT a $140 toy. It's a $90 toy that we have to pay 150% for to import in and let everyone involved make a living on it at the same time that we get our toy. Second... there ISN"T a problem IMO for the DYRL valks but the TV valks should probably have a solid molded heat shield. I'm not sweating it that bad, though. On topic, I think this 1/60 looks great. Not as good as the custom pictured above, of course, but damned good for a 1/60 scale mass produced toy. Better than the 1/55 version IMO on proportions (naturally). I should hope Yamato has a gimmick or two up their sleeves (internal detail/removable covers like on the 1/60 Fast-Back boosters, for example). And when the 1/48 comes out, I'll expect removable missiles, thank you. But for 1/60 it's not necessary (though it'd be nice! at least in clusters of 4 or something!).
  24. No kidding. Apparently they're already talking about T4 going ahead without him, and his abscence from Hollywood will hardly help King Conan get the green light anytime soon. T4? It ain't T without Arnold. <_< In Reese's flashback from the original Terminator movie, that Terminator didn't look anything like Arnold. I think they used different ones now and then and after the first one, the "Arnold" versions were probably special models meant specifically for John Conner. I rather like the idea I read a year or two ago that hinted T3 might have the *human* that Arnold's Terminator was based off of. Make it something tragic. Older hero of the resistance maybe slightly out of his prime, but copied by the machines first to undermine and then to demoralize. And I liked T3. Especially the ending.
