  1. The Fellowship Extended set with the bookends does include another disc, but IIRC, it's National Geographic look at the filming locations or something like that. I'd expect RotK to have both theatrical and extended editions, though I should hope they can come out at the same time!
  2. The 22 doesn't have morphing wings? You can clearly see in the animation that Max's VF-22S' wings are normal AND go into the "high-speed" configuration that Guld used to both drift with engines off and then later ram the Ghost... Now the "flexing" the Guld did on pre-flight could have been something linked to the BCS/BDI... but there's definately SOME variable geometry there... gonna have to check the Compendium...
  3. Did the unpainted proto ever go on sale? Kinda like a "low-viz" Prime. Wasn't the "Return of Optimus Prime" gray or white? White I'm thinking (remember wanting to track down an Ultra Magnus to use without all the extra parts)... But anyways, the mouth is silly but its kinda like the radar on the 1/48. It's cool to have there but not gonna see it much. I'm definately gonna want a clean Takara... but thinking I could grab a Hasbro one too as a "beater"...
  4. Nope. They're still underway in M7 Dynamite, though u can apparently see the skeleton of a new Battle 7 under construction... M7 was a series, not an OVA? That's the whole joke (and last line) in the M7 series in the special ("Plus?") episodes.. In M7D, apparently she's chosen... but can never quite catch up to Basara to talk about it... except passing him at the end (she's coming while he's going, with Gamlin chasing Basara). Well... did Basara ever show a sign of knowing this? She just screamed and ran off IIRC... Exactly.
  5. Damn why can't Toynami beat Yamato to the punch and do a regult and glaug? Looking at that bookend makes me wish SOMEONE would do Zentraedi mecha.
  6. Heh, but Fifth Element did it good. Almost a parody (if not exactly that!). Especially with the big list of equipment and skills required.
  7. I obviously watched some. maybe even a good portion of Voyager, just not religiously and mostly through re-runs. As a kid I memorized most of TOS when it was at 11pm on Ch 13 here in LA. I watched most of TNG with a bad taste in my mouth, with the occassional exception. Watched increasingly less of DS9 and the least of Voyager. And only 2 eps of Enterprise. I'm saying that as a non-trekkie Voyager is not much better, if at all, than TNG... from the somewhat-outsiders perspective. If I had to rank them... 1) TOS, 2) DS9 with the rest eking out mediocrity and living on their franchise name and reputation. Stargate? I just wish they had used different characters when they switched up actors. Was there any reason not to? Especially when the characterizations of Richard Dean Anderson is so different from that of Kurt Russel. From what I've seen of the series I like it. Though the Nordic ones seem kinda silly.
  8. Is it given that the 19 is more manueverable than the 21? With its variable shape wings (without external control surfaces, flaps, etc) and particularly the high-speed "mode" (wings curled down, vertical stabilizers turned in), I would imagine it should be quite maneuverable. Speed, the 19 wins pretty easy according to the compendium... 21 definately wins in Battroid IMO. U notice these guys dont use Gerwalk as much as the VF-1 seems to? I go with the 21/22, myself. It's far more advanced. What i'm curious about is why the UN Spacy hasn't built a light fighter based on that platform. One engine would work with a design like the 21s... smaller, nimble, and more importantly cheaper. Apparently the UN Spacy doesnt have significant budget restrictions as they ended up going with BOTH Supernova variable fighters...
  9. I'm not a trekkie or anything... besides a few episodes I don't think the bulk of TNG was any better than the bulk of Voyager. Hardly watched Voyager and didnt' watch DS9 at all until they got into that war, which was cool and not typical Trek 'solve it after the last commercial break' bit. I was hoping Enterprise might have a TOS jingoistic attitude to it (should be even more pronounced IMO) but it's typical PC technobabble schlock. At least in the 2 or 3 episodes I've seen.
  10. Getting the extendeds as they come out. Watching my impatient friends' in between theatrical and extended releases. I wish they'd just release both at the same time... i don't think they really need the extra time, after all. I wonder if they're holding out on special material for an ueber-box... or if it might just have both cuts (theatrical and extended versions) and a gimmick like the Argonath bookends, artbook, film cell, etc)...
  11. Billions? Where did you get billions? Morpheus clearly implies there are only 250,000 people in Zion. As he says the 250,000 Sentinels coming in are "machine thinking" of one for every "man, woman, and child" of Zion.

    YF-21 FP

At first I was removing my shoulder pad things for fighter and gerwalk but I leave it on now and haven't noticed any changes. It's tight fit for fighter, but nothing "bulging" or anything. AS far as the leg covers... make sure they're rotated appropriately (flat). The "front" of the legs (with the longer portion of the feet) are facing outwards from the center of the fighter.
  13. M7 IS a better series, for reasons that have been stated. And it has almost every valkyrie to ever see time on the screen in any Macross (except maybe the VF-4... the VF-0 and SV-51 didn't yet exist in Real Life). And I think the plot is pretty cool and agreed, greater than the simply the Zentraedi. I like the shifts in strategy as we finally find out what the Protodevlin are after. Great story there. And character development particularly in Gamlin (starting out as rookie in Diamond Force to the leader).

    VF-19 Strike Valk?

fast packs are for space.................... Tell to the guys who did the Real Thing for the F-15. The "real" Fast-Packs for the YF/VF-19 aren't that big and bulky for a reason. Check the compendium, M+, or M7 to see 'em.
  15. Having feminine women (especially the heroine) be as strong or stronger than any of the huge brutes oppossing her in hand-to-hand combat. Yeah if it's someone like Vasquez and Veffidas then she can kick some ass and take some names. But to see some of the whimpy Star Trek women do what they do... sheesh. Hominid aliens. I know there are budgetary restrictions... but Babylon 5 and Farscape had good potential but were ultimately letdowns in this respect IMO. The former had that mantis crime-lord guy... the latter had the puppets (even though they were mostly hominid, too). Yes, some hominids is fine... but I'd like to see a starfish-shaped thing. A pachydirm. A blob (the ST shaggy carpet over the stunt-man version would work, but having CG / sfx psuedopods would be cool, too).
  16. Carrie Ann-Moss looks bad out of the Matrix because it looks like she has minimal/no make-up. I think she looks pretty good when inside the Matrix (though I'm sure they could do something other than the slicked hair... still it fits with the motiff). Monica Bellucci is definately quite tasty looking. Gonna have to put in the Brotherhood of the Wolf DVD again and see her nekkid Animatrix? I really liked only the 1st one. The historical type ones were kind of neat... Though I found too many of the major points extremely implausible (why would the human nations have allowed 01 to entrench in anyway? Especially in THAT region... not a lot of spare territory...).

    VF-19 Strike Valk?

Eww. I think there's a reason that the actual VF-19 FP dont need boosters. It has enough speed already. And those things would certainly screw up atmopsheric performance. Nice idea, though... Needs more detail on the boosters exteriors (no way these are a MAC II super armor pack), though thats a LOT of missiles in the missle pod! Definately looks based off the Bandai mold (probably one of the bootlegs?)...

    1:60 GBP-1 !?

Or there wasn't any other way to do it that would satisfy the sculpt. Possible scenario: GBP is already sculpted. Original shoulder pieces go over existing 1/60 shoulders. Someone finally puts it on... and its looks dont pass approval. "What's wrong w/ the shoulders!" "Ok well THIS is what we can do..." Or it was too expensive to retool shoulders when all they had to do was slip covers. Who can tell? It will come off with the armor anyway to transform, so does it really matter?
  19. Hell yeah. Two girls at the same time, man. I still crack up watching him Sing Basara's song. Big ol buff dude singing along. Aside from the singing, it was very similar to Roy's DYRL death. Kinryu's bang was a helluva lot bigger, though...

    1:60 GBP-1 !?

I really wish Yamato would sell the armor seperately. I already have a Hikaru VF-1J and would prefer to be able to put the GBP on any of my 1/60...
  21. Just buy the Reloaded DVD and u can have the preview for Revolution at the end (on its own DVD chapter) where it's supposed to be.

    PS2 Macross

Some nice pics but I believe u should look at the sticky on top of the page.
  23. Very interesting perspective, Monkey-N. I wonder just how much the "gray market" US sales are compared to their Japanese sales. I would imagine they'd have an English language website if it was as significant as you say. Unless they want us relying on babelfish. Like Haterist, I found the Yamatos from MW, which I found after a search for Robotech items. I remember being excited over the MPC's first announcement. Then debated between the "fragile" nature of the Yamatos vs the sturdiness of the chunky-monkey Bandai reissues. I chose Yamato and have never looked back. I really wish they would just come to some arrangement with HG. Slap an HG logo on there, call it the Rick or whatever. Allow "plain" Japanese/Macross versions as collectors will want through ordinary channels... It's all about money. HG probably wants too much. BW doesn't want to give up any (whether they should or not is best left to the dedicated thread in Other Anime/Sci-Fi)... I just want affordable Valkyries. As is, the 1/48 and probably the monster will be too expensive for me to get too many more of.
  24. Heh. It's no secret that I like the prequels. Maybe even more than the originals, though I do still love the originals, of course. The original Matrix ended on such a high, and was such a departure from other movies of the time, that it's hard to maintain that level. I still think Reloaded was better technically and expanded on what they had done before. It's just suffering from being the middle act and its abrupt ending (which was refreshing to me).
  25. Yeah but he never fully gave it up. He still stays in shape. It will be the same in movies IMO. I'm thinking when he's done with Governor (term limits), he'll go for the Senate. Or at least I hope. If he decides to do King Conan and THEN run for Senate, I'll be happy with that, too. B)
