  1. i don't see how. I'm not talking about making spare parts specifically but simply using the production line for regular valkyires (1/48 in this case) a few extra parts. Even if they didn't paint them it could suit us well. And they wouldnt need to produce extra of any ancillary parts like landing gear and cockpits. I'm actually not bitter at all about spare parts, though it would be a good customer relations feature, especially for one that has known QC issues. The 1/60 FP upgrades is another story. <_< But mostly because the only reason I bought a 1/60 Roy and Max was because I thought there would be upgrades later on... And HLJ's sale was pretty good.
  2. If the analogy was being compared to Lucas' jackbooted thugs (former federal agents and police fired for excessive brutality) breaking into peoples homes and smashing their VHS and LD collections, it would be apt. As is, it's not. If Father Time destroys the VHS and LD versions and/or the media become obsolete, that doesn't obligate LFL to produce a version for those who want it, however much they excercise their right to complain about it. I'll be more precise in my point. You're saying Lucas is obligated to paying for the production of a DVD (and/or whatever future format(s) you should desire) of YOUR preferred version of his movies. You're entitled to your opinion, of course, (and it'd be absurd for me to say otherwise), but you're doing more than expressing your distaste of the current versions. Even though I agree with some of the particulars (Greedo shooting first for one), I disagree when you say you're entitled to a specific cut of the movies, even if it's the most popular (NOT that I'm conceding that by any means).
  3. Haven't heard anything of the sort, though it would be cool. Where did you catch this rumor? Anyone else hear anything along these lines or is it just the obtuse jerks out there?
  4. I don't think the Marduk would be so much a direct creation of the Protoculture but as they'd be a sort of illegitimate descendant... or something not directly related but benefiting from their technology kinda like Earth. But the thought of them being Supervision Army is interesting. Isn't it assumed that the Supervision Army were mindlessly following their Protodevlin directives? Or is there room for them to have developed independently or maybe have had an offshoot? In either case, the Zentraedi of Bodolza would have be descended from Protoculture control but some of the "other fleets" could well be Marduk maybe...
  5. The thing is that you seem to think your kids... or even you... have some fundamental entitlement to the movie you remember. You don't. Your kids don't. Jack is chillin at Skywalker Ranch with the Great Plaid One. The pseudo confiscation business is pure hyperbole, if not the antithesis of anything logical.
  6. Why sell parts when it could interfere with selling whole valkyries?
  7. Whoah, just saw this in the Toys forum, Hurin. Good advice. I immediately thought of this thread. Substitute "LFL" or even "Lucas" for "Yamato." Hmm... Well I want to postscript saying that I don't intend this with any acrimony. I really like your stuff and think we're even close politically, from a brief browsing of your site. I just think it's silly for you to be so vehement against the newer SW stuff. So no hard feelings.
  8. lol. Confiscation from those who don't have it yet? Are you reading what you're typing? You're not making any sense man. My point was that YOU seem to think Lucas owes u personally your own DVD version of the originals and I'm saying he owes you Jack and crap and Jack left town (if you'll excuse the colloquialism... I love Army of Darkness ). Period. Playing DIRECTLY into my point now. I think your girlfriend is humoring you. Seriously. The SE have far far better SFX than anything from the '77 Version of Star Wars. Or even the 80 (?) version of ANH. It looks horribly dated now. You're looking at this as classic cinema. But it's pure 50's schlock. And I love it for that. And yes, each movie gets better. Nyuk. You want to get started on Midichlorians? I tackled this pretty handily maybe a week or two ago. I'll find the link for the thread for you to warm up on as courtesy. :cracking knuckles: Basically... it is your own preconceptions messing them up for you and I will PROVE it.
  9. I'm speaking more to the "emotional" ownership of the film. Lucas had alot more invested in the first movie than you or I. He'd be nothing if that had tanked, not the multimedia king he is now. For your hypotheticals, if the painter/author etc would be justified in redoing their work if they kept legal ownership of the individual pieces. I like that analogy, as it sort of plays directly into my point. Lucas is not confiscating the old VHS and Laserdisc copies of the SW movies. Same with memories. But for people to demand the original versions, as if Lucas owes it to them, is preposterous and smacks of a gigantic amoount of hubris at that, IMO. Your contention that he's lost his touch is just as ludicrous IMO. The only thing keeping you from seeing it is the enormous amount of nostalgia that's built up for the originals. I love the originals too, and most of the Special Edition overt alterations are questionable, but you let it deep deep under your skin while I'm unfased. And the starfighter battle from ANH is far far better executed. I wish they'd redo the strafing scenes of the Death Star surface, in fact, as well as at least pieces of the trench run with modern special effects. Mentioning "critical acclaim" in the context of ANY Star Wars movie, outside of the technical and special effects, is an oxymoron. There are NONE that I'm aware of. You speak of fan preferences AFAIK and nothing else. Which are far against Lucas own creative and financial interests. Anyone wanna debate midichlorians and the Force? :cracking knuckles:

    Latest 1/48

Nice, I like the box, but still think the Low-Viz is better. Hikaru 1J box looks nice, too. I'll decide if I can live with the head/face seem or not and can find a good deal....
  11. I made no provisions for "rabid fans." No fan racer for me, thanks.
  12. Definately 1J. Low-Viz 1J! For CF, I hope it's darker brown of the TRU 1/60. And in BOTH 1A and 1J (maybe semi-limited 1J) 1/60 is nice but not quite relevant in this discussion. Let's look at 1/48: 1A: Hikaru, Max, Low-Viz 1S: Roy, Hikaru 1J: Hikaru Yeah Max and Milia are likely but haven't been announced yet.

    VF 1J GBP release

Nah they'll have to showcase the GBP. Maybe this will be one of the first post VF-1 Valks to be package in Battroid again? Please offer it seperate, Yamato. has it been confirmed the Hikaru-1J with FP is a seperate box? Or just a bundle?
  14. Because fans want war valkyries not show valkyries?
  15. It might have been better form if you hadn't gotten your last word in and THEN opened this thread. You should kidnap George Lucas and make him remake his movies like you want them to be. Or rather how they fit your preconceptions? They are HIS movies. Not yours, not mine. Not collectively owned. His. Thanks to some guy who is/was employed by 20th Century Fox and thought it was a good deal (at least for SW). I think Lucas is doing ok with success. Wasn't the much vaunted Empire Strikes Back the least prolific, money-wise? And Phantom Menace (with Jar-Jar) the most profitable? Even adjusted for inflation... He's laughing all the way to the bank. Everything below the "dashed line" made boku bucks. Except Howard the Duck. I didn't like "Jedi Rocks" much myself but it doesn't get under my skin, either. Kinda corny, but that's stock and trade with Star Wars (and Indy) humor IMO. Same thing with Greedo shooting first, the girly Luke scream, etc I think each Star Wars (and Indy) movie gets better than the one before. Yes, Phantom Menace is better than Empire Strikes Back. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk. Jk. I like ya man, we just fundamentally disagree on this. I think u read waaaaay too much into Indiana Jones of the first movie, though. I do agree about the "frontal lobotomies" of the Indiana Jones characters in Last Crusade... at least Brody. But I didn't mind it much.

    VF 1J GBP release

Nice. I really wish they'd release it w/o the VF-1J... Waste space? It's all about Yamato saving mula. The box is the same size as 1/48 boxes. Simple. They probably got a deal on one size of box or soemthing.
  17. Are the fansubbers gonna get to this commercial or what? I'm dying waiting for Ep3...
  18. I agree with Hurin on the SDF Macross/FB2012 ending. I also like the thought of SOME great mystery out there. I disagree with Hurin on Indiana Jones (Last Crusade is easily my fav of the 3) and Star Wars (each one gets better IMO, including the prequels ), though.
  19. Already half way there. You wanna lay odds whether Project M begins at this point or not?
  20. Nice... I'm gonna have to see if there's something I can order one of these days...
  21. The real funny thing is she (The Actress) was not latin at all. I think her name is Goldstein or something like that...

    1/48 customs

Well he's probably starting with Hikaru -1A or Max -1A's and paying alot less than we are. Even the older 1/48s aren't exactly affordable for customization at import pricing... And I definately see a CF there. Looks pretty good, but not as good as the Low-Viz. Interesting that he did the MPC thing with the red tipped missiles... And a CF VF-1J, too. Nice. Don't like the metallic Max 1A. Not only is it too metalic, but it's the wrong shade... more turquoise than blue, especially under bright light, IMO. The Milia is better... I love this shot: Did you check out his Legioss? Looks damned good and in scale! Hope this doesn't get anyone here sick:
  23. They already have with the Anima Spiritia portions. All those flowers and such moving in response to Sara's song... And that was joined at the hip with the Protodevlin in M7... Symbolic sum of the works? That sounds possible, but I think there might also be an in-story reason why this is a prequel... and given the spiritia connection, it's definately gonna be along M7's lines...
  24. Yeah but why come up with all that stuff when you don't have to? What happened to Amelia Earheart? That that they're missing and unnacounted for means UN Spacy doesn't know (or is just saying they don't for conspiracy types). They could well have kids who didnt join UN Spacy. They could all be dead. THey could be in some dreaded Star Trek time-space anomoly... They could be on Tirol.
