That's the most eloquent representation of Macross collecting I've ever seen -
It's a nice compliment to her military uniform SQ figure. Next time I'm in Japan I can see me picking one up.

I think the Gerwalk is by far the best mode for this figure, it's really the main draw for me. It's so aggressive looking.

They're the Perfect Effect Scouting Force X. PE started out with small-scale figures before their Warden, Leonidas and Carnifex size figures. They're pretty out of scale with the rest of the cabinet, but they're adorable so they get to stay -
Ugh, seeing some of these shots and that recent HMR 35th VF1 in Messer's colours, I might cave and get this... You're weakening my powers of resistance, photographer-types... :/

Man, that is gorgeous! Grabbed 2 at Amiami. Thank you MacrossWorld Forum! Now if they'd just announce those MII VF-2SS HMR's I could really go to town. I know they're the unwanted step-child of the Valk family, but they were my introduction to Macross (outside of Jetfire) and I unashamedly love them.

I'm tempted to pick this up but trying to hold out for Mirage's 31C, assuming it comes up for air again after the insane pre-order rush. Hayate and Mirage will do for me in this line, although I am a tiny bit jealous at the full set some people will be showing off next year, lucky buggers.

I do like the rare stuff - it's amazing how much anime collectibles have come on since I started back in '93! As I've been running The UK Anime Network for 20+ years (www.uk-Anime.net if anyone is curious) I've picked up a lot of oddities in my time, but only really started getting big on Macross in the last few years. I think I picked up that Mylene around 2000. I picked up the resin kit years ago, a friend made it for me and added the Gubaba as a little extra. It's resin, not vinyl as stated in the listing: https://myfigurecollection.net/item/33049 the story I was told was that it was limited to 300 and available only with preview tickets to the Macross Plus movie, but whether that's true or not I couldn't say. The listing says it was exclusive to the Macross 95 festival, which seems more likely.

Heh, I live in the loft of an old enamel factory by the river in North England. It's really not as grand as it sounds, but I've lived here in my man pad for 15 years - all the retro consoles, Transformers and anime figures are subtly deployed

I like to think all these awesome collections give me something to aspire to. My Macross collection is pretty paltry, but thanks to some new display cabinets, what I have is now proudly on display in my lounge

I think the problem with an international market is just that - these are built for the Japanese market, we foreigners are really snagging product not intended for us. If Bandai could set up decent overseas distribution, or a dedicated international store, I'd be all over it. It doesn't help that premium stuff like Chogokins is just catnip to scalpers. I paid about £90 over retail for my VF31J, but it was one that I really wanted. The Draken III hasn't reviewed so well, which makes me glad I couldn't pre-order it. I may jump on anyway now that it's available retail (the Gerwalk mode is what sells it to me) but it's nice to make a considered purchase, a rare treat really.

Looking at the photos, it looks very red on the highlights, not the purple I expected. Is this just me?

Doh, missed it. These pre-orders are hell on GMT. Hopefully more stock will get allocated at some point. It's not easy being a Macross fan!

Thanks - they have held up pretty well. I tend to pick up a DX on my yearly trips to Japan now. The 30 was the last one I picked up from the shelf, I just saw it on display and fell in love. It's like a cross between Macross and Patlabor given the colour placement so I couldn't resist! The 31J I'd like to keep in plane mode as it's such a gorgeous silhouette, I think the Detolf's are going to be insufficient in terms of space unless I just give the figure its own shelf. Which I may well do if I move the collection around, sometimes just having one/two figures to a shelf can really emphasise how special these things are. So far only 3 shelves have enjoyed that luxury: The Gundam Freedom Metal Material figure that stands alone, my J Scott Campbell Mary Jane and Gwen Stacey statues, and my Hot Toys Iron Man Mk III and Pepper Potts. Time Macross got the same love I feel! Though having seen some of your collections, mine seems a bit underwhelming to say the least!

I only have 3 Chogokin Valks right now (well technically 4 but my original 25 yellowed like nothing I've ever seen!) and with the 31 landing I may have to remodel the display.

Oh I'm sure they'll all awesome as a set (and bloody hell, that's a sexy pic right there!) but given my budget I think 2 of these is my limit. Short of Mirage I'd go for Arad's 31S, as the colour scheme appeals, but really it's the 2 lead pilots that will make the best display for me. The only thing that puts me off Messr's 31F is that the colours are a bit too similar to the VF30, which I have sat next to Alto's VF25. Taken on it's own though, Messr's is by far the most menacing looking of the Delta squadron and I can see why anyone would want one.

Cuh, I missed it again as well. I've popped a watch on it at AmiAmi to see how that works. I picked up the Hayate version from Ebay for about $270, and the only other one I really don't want to miss is the Mirage version as I think it's the best compliment to Hayate's valkyrie. Given the release rate of these I guess we could be waiting until the end of the year if she's last in the queue. Have a feeling I'll have to sleep with my phone by the bed to catch that one!
