OOWWW!! Nice big scale. I wish I had the backgroung to do this I only learned the basics of CNC whilst at college/aprenticship. My brother would be the man as he has acccess to RPT and to cad/cnc equiptment in his job but no time or real interest to do it.

I only loved it for the mecha. Ral Partha was only just down the road from me so I could buy direct from the factory, I just had to wait for the right molds to be in casting. The story books were good and the Tech manuals too. It wasnt until the advent of the PC games and then later and better Mechwarrior 4 that the gaming side of it was at its best. The board game took hours to do and got a bit boring. the Xbox game while graphically good, game play was too kiddie-fied and just plain old sucks. D and D may also be a bit on the dated side but as hoard of school kids take it up each year and only really requires a pen paper and a adventure book to play makes it sooo much easier. BattleTech needed so much more to make it worth the bother.

I thought Reprolables was out of business. I was looking at making my own as decals once but now i'd be happy for just enough for my own needs.

Easy way to doge the copyright issues involved with Fasa's orginal line up which robbed from almost all the Mecha franchises of the time. Definatly a lot of Kawamori-esq designs in there, even the ones with out his squiggle on.

The decals look like a real PITA to me. The tips you gave are gonna be helpful when I get round to doing one

Well they are zinc plated zytel and although its cheaply done it does polish up well and if you seal it it stays that way. It tarnishes in a matter of days. it really is cheap crap metal, but widely used in the toy markets, lesney matchbox springs to mind.

The PE parts really do add some depth to the kit IMO. The only bits I didnt use were a couple of the thruster/handle bits as I thought that the plastic was detailed enough and once the decal is on top they would stand too proud.

Me too The covering old ground in new threads can get tiresome but with the ammount of new users this forum gets each year some repeate questions are gonna happen.

I used a bit of metal polish and some Scotchbrite and then sealed it in a light coat of Future. Rust free after a couple of years.

I really wish someone would make a proper sized SDF1 kit. Something more than 30cm (12inches) long a decent sized scale with lots of details. mmmmmm!!

It would make sense to have them on more cars but I'll bet it has to do with money. Years ago ABS and Air Con were seen as luxury extras now most cars come as standard with them. It will only be a matter of time. BMW now have it on some of their range so the other German car Co's will do the same and then the rest of the European ones will follow. Once big hitters like the Japanese and the American car cos do it it will become normal...
