1. I like to know, too. The nose, legs, and arms are a lighter shade of gray on the promo shot. This paint-up is more uniform gray ... like the anime-correct CF scheme, but darker (Yamato, don't let HFH see this un-approved scheme! ).
2. These are good points - without the swing bar, the shoulders can fit higher into the fuselage, but the 1/48 shoulder connection/ball socket joint design is needed to make this happen. You'll notice the shoulders on the 1/60 still hang pretty low because of the more primative shoulder joint. Without all that unecessary leg die-cast, I think an improved locking leg connection to the nose would be enough to keep the legs from falling off.
3. I'd buy them only if they used CAD CAM, and redesigned the bulbous canopy and low hanging shoulders of the 1/48. I'll never get bored of the VF-1, but I can't afford to be a completist or waste money on mediocre toy lines.
4. It's too big and too chunky to be Hase kit. It's probably a painted-up Focker with a new head.
5. Relax guys, that really is Graham, our resident Nick Cage look-alike (and his kid). And no, I have no evidence that he has 3 pre-production YF-19s stashed in his flat, so don't be spying in every funky pink building in Hong Kong hoping to get a sneak preview.
6. Please tranform it an tell us if the knee and elbow swivels are loosey goosey. This is supposedly what Yamato "fixed" in the second issue.
7. I think you could squeeze another 10-15% vallks if you kept the backpack folded back and locked on the legs, with the tail fins down . edit: damn you , you changed your post .
8. Yes, the arms are a pain because they do not seem to lock into any postition between the legs. 426123 The arms are supposed to lock into pegs along the insides of the legs (see attached), and then the legs are supposed to, er, "lock" into the backpack with the lower pegs. With everything in place, the hands should fit into the backpack, although they may only cooperate with the wrists twisted in 1 exact position and the fingers folded a certain way.
9. What happens to meat in the vacuum of space? Does it get freeze-dried or preserved in any way? All that needs to happen is for the meat to freeze instantly (which it did), and then you need to apply just enough heat for the ice to sublime into gas, which is really easy in the vacuum of space. This could have taken weeks, but seems like something they could have done in a heated but non-pressurized section of the ship. Viola - instant astronaut food!
10. I'd tend to agree with that, and that's what I'm hoping for. You never know what Yamato will or will not do (esp. if HFH laid down the law). I mean who would have expected Angel Birds before TV Max -1A? They can also do a bunch of non-canon variants like the LVII and Stealth to milk the mold.
11. It's still not exactly Shin's version. 1) The Yamato 0A has dark stripes on the wings, Shin's 0A doesn't according to Hasegawa and the anime. 2) Shin's 0A has a white chest stripe, the Yamato doesn't. 3) The area around the sub-air intakes is white on the Yamato 0A chest plate, but not on Shin's anime/Hasegawa 0A. There are other differences as well. Graham 426064 Yes, I an aware of these and other differences. I was just thinking if Yamato were to only release one 0A type and someone wanted an anime-accurate 0A toy, it would be easier to convert this to a Shin type than a true CF type.
12. Mine (2nd issue) had some problems with wobbly knees. Not Toynami MPC-floppy, but the ratchets had a bit more play than any of the other 1/48s I've handled. I haven't heard anyone else complain about this, so I must have a dud. I managed to fix the knee problem, and it is still the coolest un-modded toy I've owned. If you have never seen a 1/48 up close, just be prepared for the fact that the paint lines may not be as crisp as you're used to with 1/55s.
13. Gawd, I forgot about those beauties . Nice work (again). How well has the Krylon held up to transformation?
14. Max is tough - his blue and the standard FP "greeny-blue" sort of clash. I like the Stealth scheme for Max, as it compliments his color scheme better (but it's not anime-accurate).
15. Those look nice! I wonder if a clear smoke or clear dark blue (does someone make this?) would be subtle enough to darken the stock greenish FPs to something more anime-correct. You's also get instant panel lining.
16. Cool! Any figher mode pics? 425500 No stickers yet, but here you go. If only they made these in all gray
17. drifand - The 1/60s never looked so good. I'm in awe of those pics
18. It's got sort of an Orguss mecha charm to it - just a big, f*cked-up pile of parts folded over each other with little wings sticking out - Presto! A fighter! I challenge anyone to find a VF-1 toy more objectionable that this thing. We may have our winner... Totoro242, And how the frack does this bling bling transform? I'd wear it around my neck with a big chain, or use it as a hood ornament...
19. I haven't seen a pic posted of Hikaru 1S in Stealth FPs, so here it is...
20. big F, This thing has a hay bail for a backpack and the blue plastic is actually yellowed. Congratulations, you've made this grown man cry.
21. What's sad is that although we laugh now, these were the pieces of crap that we were stuck with as kids because 1/55s and transformers were too expensive. For all of those who were stuck with these gumball machine turds, eraser valks, and pencil sharpeners, I salute you
22. I could not find a pic of the Taka/Converter in G or F mode, but here's the back of the box.... EEEWWWW On the bright side, the fighter mode does a damn good Legioss+Tread imitation
23. Worset fighter (all-time): Matchbox very-tech This thing doesn't transform and it still has swing bars. At least it could hold GI Joes. Worst gerwalk/battroid (all-time): Takatoku Henkei/Converters/Macres Bootlegs Just fugly in every way. Worst fighter (recent): MPC This thing is up-bowed, has the most inaccurate nose section, and the worst chest-plate/canopy transition – for a 1/55 scale toy, that’s a disgrace. Worst gerwalk (recent): 1/60 Without a proper A-stance, a gerwalk just isn’t cool in any way. Worst battroid (recent) MPC An anorexic, huge-hipped, big-chested, stretched out abomination derived from the already inaccurate HCM.
