Checking with HLJ, it seems only the ff. are available to me: Air Small Packet, Air Parcel, EMS. I was pretty sure in the past that FedEx was ok lol. But I was using EMS pre-Covid and it was acceptable. Hopefully more shipping choices become available once Kawamori's book is out.
  2. I just resolved not to get gunpla anymore this year. This is so tempting We'll see if shipping normalizes (and I change my mind). I fear more shipping backlogs as I assume people will be ordering more online than going into stores for Christmas--and this backlog might continue until next year.

Is there anything wrong right now with HLJ shipping? To be honest I haven't ordered anything from Japan after March so I'm not sure about state of shipping from there. I've only ordered from the US but I'm using a forwarder so I am confident they will deliver to my place.

LOL I'll be glad if Amazon just lets me pre-order this.

I'll stick with HLJ for the Kawamori book. For the other books I will hold off pre-ordering for now and see what happens in the next few weeks.

Kawamori's book on HLJ is now on order stop. Now I noticed CDJapan also has it: https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/NEOBK-2523883 I would have loved to get the Hobby Japan Vintage Vol 4 from Amazon JP but some other books I want don't ship to the Philippines. I wish this trend would stop...I wonder how they decide which books can be pre-ordered for international shipping or not.
  7. While reading I was wondering if it was paid for. They seem to have a lot of RT-related articles. Or if not maybe they're friends with someone related to the comic? That would also make sense.
  8. I purchased some Humble Bundle Comics and when I realized it was from *that* publisher, I thought 'eeewwww'. But some of their comics are good titles, specifically the ones from European artists/writers. Several are on my wish list, but so far down it's unlikely I buy them unless my income goes up considerably.
  9. Thanks! That gives me some idea about the shipping cost.
  10. How big is a SOC box (esp. with shipping box)? Amazon has listed the Voltes V dimensions as 2.5 x 20.3 x 35.6 cm but I doubt that's the whole package. Any ideas?
  11. lol already unavailable from amazon. Thanks for the links!

Finally! PO'd And before I was just procrastinating on ordering via buyee haha
  13. I tried to watch the 1st season but I was just getting angry thinking she should do something more proactive about her work (like resign or look for another job?) Does anything good ever happen?
  14. Hopefully 2025 is covid19-free. I wonder how crowded this is going to get.
  15. The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) announced on Monday that it has named anime creator and director Shoji Kawamori as one of 10 co-producers of Osaka's Expo 2025. Eight of the producers will each develop a focus area that follow the World Expo's theme: "Design Future Society for Our Lives." Kawamori is working on a focus area that revolves around "making the connections of all 'life' living in our universe, ocean, and earth to protect and nurture one another." Expo 2025 is scheduled to take place from April 13 to October 13, 2025. This will be the second time Osaka has hosted a World Expo after Expo '70, 55 years earlier. Kawamori visited Osaka's first World Expo when he was still in elementary school, and he credited the event with inspiring his lifelong exploration of world culture, science, and science fiction. The Expo's other nine producers are planner and producer Masaru Ishikawa, architect Sosuke Fujimoto, biologist and professor Shinichi Fukuoka, award-winning film director Naomi Kawase, broadcasting writer Kundo Koyama, roboticist and professor Hiroshi Ishiguro, musician and mathematician Sachiko Nakajima, media artist Yoichi Ochiai, and professor of medicine Hiroaki Miyata. Kawamori is perhaps most famous for being a key creative planner in The Super Dimension Fortress Macross anime series. He designed most of the franchise's iconic transforming "variable fighter" mecha, and oversaw most of the main installments in the franchise, including the latest, Macross Delta. Kawamori has also created the Aquarion, AKB0048, and Arjuna series, and most recently was chief director on Jūshinki Pandora at Satelight, the anime studio for which he serves as a board director. He has contributed mechanical design work to Patlabor: The Movie, Patlabor 2: The Movie, Eureka Seven, Outlaw Star, Ghost in the Shell, and more. He is credited as the original creator of The Vision of Escaflowne, Basquash!, and Nobunaga the Fool. He has worked in anime production as a director, screenwriter, mechanical designer, and storyboarder. Outside anime, he designed one of Sony's Aibo robot dog variants and contributed to the designs of Takara's Diaclone Car Robot toys, which eventually became Optimus Prime, Prowl, Ironhide, and other toys in Hasbro's Transformers line. His game contributions include the original mechanical designs for the Armored Core franchise and the Devil Breaker weapons in Devil May Cry 5. Small Worlds, the company behind the world's largest indoor theme park of scale miniatures, appointed Kawamori as its chief creative officer. The World Expo is held every five years and can last in for up to six months in their host city. The themes of World Expos are designed to raise awareness of and find responses to universal challenges of our time. Milan, Italy held the most recent Expo in 2015 with the theme "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life.” Dubai, UAE is hosting the 2020 World Expo, which the BIE General Assembly postponed to 2021 due to the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19). https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-07-16/anime-director-shoji-kawamori-to-co-produce-osaka-world-expo-2025/.161923
  16. Without looking at specs normally I would choose Nikon for the quality control, but the other 2 seem to claim being waterproof and fog proof so I'm not so sure about Nikon anymore. Whichever you choose maybe just make sure of the return policies if the product turns out to be defective.
  17. Thanks that cleared that up for me. I'll wait a bit see if there's any opening from HLJ etc.
  18. So what happens if it gets taxed? Do I pay Buyee or DHL (this is my preferred option) or do I have to go pick it up and pay in person? With Covid-19 around I don't want to go out (yes I think it will still be a concern next year.)

This is not in limited quantities right? It doesn't ship to my address, so if I really want to order now I'll have to use a proxy. I could wait, but I don't wanna miss out too.
  20. He can do battle with Godzilla??? Too bad I don't have space for doing such sets. One thing I wish I had a big house...
  21. I was about to order last night and Amazon JP slapped me with 23k+ yen import fee! Info says they will refund it but the total amount was too much for my credit card I don't have any experience with local PO, I'll have to do some research. But at this big amount, I'm inclined to go with my usual suki sellers. I'll also probably check out US stores (as suggested), though I'm not in a hurry anyway.
  22. Thanks! That's a jaw-dropping 4k+ pesos for the shipping hahaha. But of course I've spent already thousands in shipping fees just in this toy hobby alone (not to mention on books and other stuff). Hmm let me just re-align the items I budgeted in advance for my Xmas bonus...
  23. Ok, saw Gleipner eps 1-2 but it seems a bit too violent for watching out in the open (family members passing by). I'll just save it for later. Which rules out Tsugumomo... So I went old school and am watching Yu Yu Hakusho
  24. Sh!t I don't log in for a few days and I miss this! Damn you Bandai How much is the shipping for DHL/Amazon JP? I wanted to go with HLJ but it's order stop now @_@
