Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - <<Season 1>>
Twoducks replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You and me both. But, judging by recent CG mechas, the level of a 5 year old high budget OVA is still way out of reach for a weekly series. Of all the Gundam Evolve shorts, I think I've only gone "wow!" with the Nu Gundam one. They all look low budget. The stiff way they move also goes in favour of the more organic valk movement in MZero. Igloo on the other hand worked really well with the solid UC designs… but it was also an OVA. The Gundam designs in Gundam 00 would have looked really boring in weekly CG IMO. -
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - <<Season 1>>

Nice animation, not to keen on so many pretty boys but the story could turn out nice and best of all NO F*$%ING CGI animated Gundams. Just because of that I’m starting to warm up to the designs. Funny that Gundam, the king of milking, is one of the few shows that still doesn’t go all CG with the mecha scenes. Macross Frontier should learn about that. -
The beauty of Macrossworld. If some group of fans do something for fun BUT label it robotech they get the smack down. I guess people get points for doing so (what do you get in exchange for all the robotech battying even with it has NOTHING to do with HG? No really? Do you think HG will magically die a horrible death because you pick on a fan work that has nothing to do with them?). Well, this very forum has a section called "fan works". If you can call what these guys are doing "poo", them stop on by to that subforum and have fun labelling everything there poo. Hey, it ain’t Kawamori But look. If you label whatever you are doing "Macross" you get nice replies: Double faced comments

Oooooh! Finally, the return of the PG line! Seeing how much Bandai's technology has advanced (just look at the recent MG), the Freedom could end up looking very nice . Wish they milked the PG Strike frame by doing an Astray.

You mean there were other gestalts apart from Devastator? Opening him up on Christmas morning when I was a kid was a dream come true. The bugger was really a pain in the ass to form though. Ended up playing more with the individual constructicons

I agree with what almost everyone is saying. The Yamato "bastards" have made such a good looking 1/60 VF-1 that it will be dificult to resist even for those that already have old 1/60's and 1/48.

Needs more black... but she sure looks pretty. Hope they correct the colours. The gold looks great, hope you don't need to point to much light for it to glow like in the photos. Where are Ivanov's ejection seat yellow and black bars? Can't see them in the Nora cockpit.

Very interesting. I still think they could make a movie sequel. The Anti Spirals were the defenders of the universe and to them all the stars were the enemy (those that house spiral beings because they can potentially end the universe). When they were destroyed they gave the torch to the humans/Gurren Brigade (“make sure… to protect the universe”), so technically, they will have to fight off the Spiral Nemesis. All the stars are friends… for now.

Nice ending, bittersweet, but nice. Many manly tears were shed (Simon saying ouch! But he did say that he was going to pierce the heavens, not go up there). Gunbuster’s still had a better ending but this series was loaded with fun and great moments. A special mention should go to how charismatic were all the characters, even when the great majority didn’t have more than a few lines of dialog. Really weird how one episode has Boota evolving and the next one has no mention whatsoever about this. Maybe they saw the series could be milked more and decided to postpone the fight showed in the first episode. The one episode Boota/human with a young voice would be a little appetizer. Gainax left a pretty open ending. They can go back to Genome’s war with the anti spirals or go forward and address the inevitable Spiral Nemesis/group of spirals evolving too much. Spiral that evolve past were the antispirals stoped Sadly the guy in the first episode would no be Simon. Maybe a protégé of him or the kid that got the drill (don’t remember his name).

I'll have to stay away from this thread until I watch it. Wait a few days for the avi sub and watch it when I have less work or download the raw and watch it today... ? Screw it, awesomeness can pierce through the language barrier anyways. Download? yes please )

The way you narrow it down, you are probably right. Not very "wow!" considering all the other cool vf designs out there but even with all the vf-1 "saturation" (Toynami, Revoltech, andai, Yamato...) many will gladly bend over and get "penetrated" by the most beloved valk design. If they are just like a 1/48 only smaller and cheaper I might get one and a two seater if they don't take to long to make it.

So Studio Half Eye is still the only source for a perfect change Getter... Speaking of SHE and Chogokins, the price tag on the upcoming Dancouga Nova makes the limited edition Chogokin Dancouga look like a bargain: 84,000 yen (some $730) for resin and some metal screws!! But it sure looks awesome : Link Don't have a clue about the D Nova series. They dropped the animal form and just turn into vehicle, robot and body part now?

Poo, sounds like it will take a long time for VF-X2 repaints... if ever I'd pick a VF-22 over the YF-21 anyday.

Your weakness has been exposed: to summon you we don't need Yamato questions, only a Gundam thread. The current MG have pretty much catch up with the PG. Look in dalong.net and you'll see how close the MG MKII ver.2 or the Zeta ver. 2 are to their PG counterparts. The first one even steals some of the moving leg armour plates from the Strike PG design. From the MG Gundam O.Y.W onward, the MG line is pretty much a mini PG line. Less pieces but the overall result is close. The PG are still great fun to build. My PG Strike is in storage but I had a blast building the sucker and it sure dominated the display space.

Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone

Sooo, manly chests with flat diamond shaped colour marks = boobs Now I know, And knowing is half the battle (the rest consists of slapping butts). -
Well, I was thinking of selling Gunbuster after month of displaying. While downsizing the display space in my house I decided to put it away in a closet. For two months it sat there until I felt like pulling it out (blame Gurren Lagann), and boy did the novelty rekindle itself! I had forgotten how awesome the figure is and how fun it was to transform. All thoughts of selling it have gone away. Long story short: I'm going to rotate the stuff on display every few months or so to keep it fresh. Right now only Gunbuster and MP Starscream are out of their boxes and a leader movie Prime just arrived. Soon I'll reopen the 1/48 and the wave SDF and after that the Gundam stuff.

Cool stuff. Makes me want to load up on lego's and try to make them myself.

Hell yeah! That would be the most awesomest way of being proven wrong
-
Diebuster who? oh yeah, that big robot girl that fought "space bugs". Though that was a long bug repellent commercial. They just need to to win the most destructive mecha award along with biggest mecha and most awesome. I really liked the last two episodes. The gatai in 25 was memorable thanks to Kitan’s help. Without him they would have lost and the homage in Simons glasses and chou-ginga gurren-lagann lower face specs were a nice way to acknowledge this. Anybody else think they might follow up 27 with an OVA? The whole Galaxy Whatever they talk about in the first episode hasn’t even been mentioned yet. Another series would force the whole formula but one or two OVA’s could work. I would prefer for it to end with 27 though.

Here’s a review from someone that has both (scroll a little bit down or use word search): http://primetoystore.com/Toys%20for%20sale/reviews.htm And some feedback from some forums: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.p...9592&page=8 http://www.sgcollect.com/forum/index.php?s...6079&st=225 Basically all say that the wing stress marks have been solved with Skywarp. Some also say that the plastic feels like it has better quality (some have said this may be because of the glossy finish). No more diecast has been included. I have MP SS and I’m really happy with it. I’ve transformed him numerous times (I really like to go back and forth with this things) and have had no problems with the wings. This is because I read, before it arrived at my doorstep, about how it is better to start the transformation pulling out the piece with the airbrake to relieve pressure from the wings. Curiously, on the tfw2005 forum they speak that you should NOT try that with the new Skaywarp. Something about the brake metal bar being dangerously too tight.

Really like you made.

Yep, it sure looks a lot better than the clear one.
