Star Trek Into Darkness, in theaters May 17, 2013
Kelsain replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Are we past spoiler point now? Cuz I can't do those on huge phone... Over all. I loved it. A few things here & there were rough. Liked the new take on the bad guy. Heck, if everyone assumes that's what you're gonna do, might as well meet them head on! Moths of Prey looked fine in context. Engine room/shuttle bay looked more reasonable this time. My big ?: if they removed the torpedo fuel in exchange for the "cargo", then how were they supposed to fire them at Kronos?- 1020 replies

Honestly, it looks a lot better in battroid than I though it would! Hope to see things moving forward from here!
-
All it needs are some sunglasses on the back of its head & a puka shell necklace. Well, maybe some plaid cargo shorts too.

Yeah, Duymon - do you have 3 VF-17's that you could have facing the other direction? You know what you crazy multiple-buyers should do? Get a bunch of foam-core & make a 1/60 Guantanamo carrier!

Klingon? No no, that's clearly a Narn ship. Honestly, I can't tell the front from back... Hope it looks better in motion.- 1020 replies

Oblivion, in theaters April 19, 2013.
Kelsain replied to Lobizon's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I see what you did there... I enjoyed moon & oblivion. They have similarities, but are not the same story, nor had the same goal. . Moon was a great personal exploration of the ethics of cloning in a realistic science fiction setting. (although, why didn't they just recycle one Sam into the next, rather than have a basement full of them?) Oblivion was a big scifi (note the contraction) movie, with chases & aliens & pewpewpew.- 90 replies

See, all that stalking of the Yamato lobby paid off!

If it is a PT Valkyrie, I think the battroid mode is going to make people appreciate the aesthetics of the VF-19 Kai a little more. Yeesh - it's not gonna be pretty.

GGemini, was it you that sold the leg & torso super parts from your 171EX? If not, you could always paint them lighter gray and put them on the 171CF, like these guys:

I honestly thought the HP score got better after Williams left. That could be related to my general dislike of the 1st 2 films, though. On SW, I agree, it wouldn't be the same without him. The score was the best part of Ep 2&3. But we've already seen positive adaptations of the SW theme in games & clone wars. And if it comes to it, I think Michael Giacchino (incredibles, star trek) is really good & has a history w JJ.

Oblivion, in theaters April 19, 2013.

Just got back from seeing this. Very nice. As others have said, a little predictable, but some other good twists. Technically great though, in the aspects I really enjoy in film: music, design & pacing A+++. Adding in a stunning redhead, even better!- 90 replies

Aha, I can't see people's locations on the iPhone. Figures there seem to be a lot of good movies this summer, during my wife's 3rd trimester. Come to think of it, I still haven't seen the Avengers...
-
This is out already? When did summer movie season move to April?
-
It may look a little odd, but I rather like how the legs & wings reconfigure.

PZL 230 F SKORPION the real life VF-4 predecessor?
Kelsain replied to Model-Junkie's topic in Model kits
That would give it better shoulder articulation. (null) -
Haha, yes! Preordered my set too.
-
Wouldn't it be cool if the pilot name was Kolchak?
-
I just emailed them too. Only about $12 difference - but hey, it's still $12!

Intriguing... But breakfast is my quiet time, before the 3-year old morning monster & pregnant wife take over... <but love ya, girls!> -
Wears hippo hoodie-footie jammies, trips on sprinklers, bangs head on microphone, falls on stage... Just sayin'

Yeah, I've heard a little - but no real specifics. Don't spoil me, bro! Going in, I'm taking the approach that, in a story - you want the characters to do the right thing. However IRL, people sometimes do the right thing, but seem to do the wrong/dumb/selfish/weak thing just as often. One of the reasons I'm giving this series a chance (aside from being a nifty concept & design) is that it seems like the director is willing to let his characters take the latter approach.
