  1. Packaged in cruiser mode eh? I think it looks nice. Does it look $150 nice? mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
  2. Actually the primary language in the Macross universe is English (note all the writing). They just speak Japanese for the sake of the viewing public. Then again, I skirted through, maybe you're mentioning something in this thread.
  3. Nani, what's your ruling on the color choice?

The strike has the fixes, I'm not sure on the one sold w/out strike kit. Anyone own a non-strike Roy? EDIT - have you seen how fugly the head is? It's terrible.
  5. I think naked Misa might pop up a few times. Look close any time you see a human monitor flicker some images inside one of the Ishkicks.
  6. My CF does this also. Basically the tab isn't rooted well (the indents in the plastic aren't deep enough or something like that) so the pull of the backpack unseats the tab with enough pressure to shoot it. It can be quite the scare 'cause then you have to find it. I can't remember but shouldn't the white neck collar help prevent it though? Anyway, here's how you fix it, you take a piece of Scotch tape, you wrap it around the inside of the tab that becomes a projectile and snip it when you get to the top on the other side. You put the tab now back into the spot it belongs and it will fit much tighter and no longer be able to generate the force to pull it free. Since it's simple tape you can always remove the part and clean the stick-um off it should you need to later.

I hope it won't come to that. Isn't Hikaru's VF-1A also the first 1/60 VF-1 they made? That's got trouble written all over it (not that Yamato doesn't have a stellar record with first releases). Besides, even the 1/60 supporters wouldn't DARE say that the 1/60 is HALF the toy the 1/48 is. They might say that it's slightly more poseable, they might enjoy its proportions better, but they can't ever say it's preferable to a 1/48. Well, I guess people who equate diecast with quality might like the 1/60 better... but that's like the guy who only digs fat chicks telling you your model girlfriend isn't cute. EDIT - Av3rag3, it's good to have a 1/60 VF-1 so you can pose it with any future items you buy since it's clearly a prominent scale now.

1/60 VF-1 doesn't even begin to compete with the 1/48. Please think of the 1/60 VF-1 as a learning experience for Yamato and nothing more.
  9. Let's keep it cordial here folks. Prometheum's logic is flawed though, after dropping $200 on a toy that is flawed would you rather keep it and be irked at it or sell it for a big loss and realize you just threw money away? You'd probably grumble and keep it. Does that mean you have no right to complain? No, you have every right to complain. People would only rush to sell their product if there was another company with a better product looming or if they had enough money they really didn't mind losing $XX to basically have rented a toy for a month, realized it sucked, and then moved on.
  10. [chauvinistic as s]Yeah, but how many times do you tolerate the same girl breaking down and costing you money before you move on to the next one? If we're going with Yamato and a girl analogy right now she's the kinda chick that looks hot at the club but sucks in bed... but maybe she just needs to get a little more into her comfort zone so it's too early to kick her to the curb just yet. Maybe you just bang her when she's drunk and cheap and hold off on the relationship until you can tell she's more ready or that her hot friend really isn't into you. [/chauvinistic as s]

When people say "you should use the search function" it's not yelling, it's guidance. Welcome to the "Wow, the Zero toys have crappy shoulders" club!

  13. I think two small elelments would be a slight shrinking of the items toward the rear of more angling with the intakes. I think those are the two elements that are currently causing the brokeback illusion... that and probably just the angle it's at.
  14. I may be mistaken but I'm pretty sure none of the broken parts are POM but rather all are ABS. ABS is used because it's cheap, very manageable, and "durable". I really don't think the material is the issue so much as the thickness of certain parts and the design of the parts themselves. It's much cheaper to have Yamato just be a little more thorough with their stress testing than it is to demand them work with more difficult materials.
  15. she's taller than I remember
  16. This response poses both sides to the coin: See, you're going about it all wrong. Don't swear off first releases.... swear off paying full price on first releases. Eventually someone here or on eBay will realize they've bought too many VF-0S and slash the price and sell them at a discount just to free up some cash or warehouse space.... that's when you buy yours. Spending $200 on a toy riddled with little problems (and they tend to be little, let's not get carried away) is a tough pill to swallow sometimes. Spending $120 on that same toy 8 months later? Yeah, that's a bit easier to deal with. Believe me, these retailers aren't invested over $120 in most of these toys so hacking 'em down to cost at some point will be worth it if they can get new stuff in that will sell at MSRP. Anyone who thinks Yamato is going to invest this heavily in new molds and engineering and then NOT eventually reissue or create a bunch of variations isn't thinking things through. Even if the first edition doesn't sell Yamato is smart enough to know that it's because they screwed up. That doesn't mean they won't spit out a bunch of variations to get those whacky first editions sold out before reissuing, it just means if you have Yoda like patience it'll pay off eventually. How many valks haven't been reissued at this point? Even if you include the Mac+ line there aren't many that are still in first release (M&M??).
  17. Going by the time the pic was posted, wouldn't there be a strong likelihood Graham is at work or sleeping? I dunno where Graham is but I seem to think his day is my night.
  18. It should be noted that it's pretty standard procedure for prototypes in the toy industry not to have clear plastic parts. Toynami always has blue painted canopies on their prototypes and always replaces them with clear ones on the final product. I think the frosted one shown above may just be indicative of a similar line of thinking. Of all the things manufacturers are concerned with in the prototype stage, the look of the canopy must not rank very high. EDIT - Broken backs are absolutely unacceptable and should never be an intentional compromise in a design. Look at how quickly the backlash was on Toynami's Alpha for its broken back syndrome. Nobody likes a plane with its nose pointed up... it ruins the fighter mode. Even an optical illusion of a nose pointed up is bad. I'm really just thinking what we're seeing is the effect of resin parts or maybe just a bad angle.
  19. I like the weighting on the word "popular." Popular then? Popular now? How do we judge popularity? Popular in the Japan? Popular in Macau? Graham's saying "popular" pretty much just means it's a show we've heard of, I don't think he went and checked the Nelson's before making his remark.
  20. broken back: someone karate chopped the center lifting the front and rear.
  21. That's the resin version right? If so I'll forgive some of the gaps. The broken back is a bit of a concern but still too early to be too concerned... that might also have something to do with it being resin and maybe not yet able to latch down properly.
  22. Maybe Graham didn't realize how badly some members want better Mospeada toys on this board. He didn't say anything that would make us to certain it was Mospeada like "a transforming 80s anime that featured motorcycles and connect-able fighters."
  23. It specificially says 0S but I'm still in the office so I don't have the link to Amenbo in English handy. It says something very similar to how I've written it above. Maybe it says "Fits with VF-0s" meaning plural VF-0. Either way, Amenbo says the drone can definitely be put on the Valk (if it fits on a 0S it has to fit on the 0A).
  24. Nope, Amenbo doesn't say. It just says something simple like "Attaches to VF-0S!"
