  1. She's drunk. Alto tries to tell Sheryl that he was lying about it being non-alchoholic but she's too busy chugging for it to matter.
  2. Don't forget, Ai Kun also destroyed Alto's paper airplane in a previous episode. I was confused, didn't people say earlier in this thread that Alto picked Ranka in this episode? I watched it and Alto says he's going to protect Frontier and those he loves even if he has to kill Ranka to do it. Then Klan says something about his love, Sheryl is crying, and I'm just friggin' confused but to me that seems like he's picking Sheryl. I'm guessing there were some hard to translate and vague statements in that last conversation.
  3. It seems like every time I check this thread it's off topic. Why are people talking about a 1/60 VF-4? Graham specifically said GNU Fighter toys and nothing else. I would buy them for review purposes only. I wouldn't buy them as a collector and I'd probably sell off these toys after reviewing them. Transformation is what makes Macross stuff cool and I'll forgive a lack of transformation in gashapon-sized products but that's about it. The Gnu battroids aren't really that impressive to me either but at least you can have a bit of fun posing them.
  4. Yes, the bugs probably were moths and yes, they eat boxes and everything else but usually only once the material has already started to decompose. The best way to solve your problem is probably to make sure you have some dessicants in with your boxes (those packages of salts and such meant to keep moisture away). Without the moisture your boxes should stay nice and dry which will keep them from coming apart and attracting bugs or mold. Some good ventiation wherever you keep them is also a good idea... somewhere cool, dry, and with good ventilation (or in a vacuum) is best. Yes, I know none of us can keep our stuff in a vacuum.
  5. Actually, if memory serves, they designed a lot more than 4 or 5 ride armors... but be happy they only used four. I'd agree with you though that the sabers are pretty silly gauntlets even if they do look really cool. I think Houquet having a big gun is pretty silly. Her ride armor should have had the built in gun that Ray sports, after all, it's supposed to be a light armor version so why make her tote around a giant gun?
  6. You know, the ditching Misa to hang out with Minmay moment isn't something I look at as being all that dense on Hikaru's part. I think it was really something he had to do to come to his point of real realization. He sort of knew that Misa was the one for him but he had that nagging doubt that that first love tends to leave with people. I can't speak for everyone, or even many, but I know that I thought about my first love well into my relationship with my second and I still went out of my way to spend time with her. It wasn't until I was onto my third or forth love that I finally had enough distance to see that I was extremely lucky to have gotten away from the first when I did. Kudos to Hikaru to being able to do it sooner... even if he had to take some big risks to get there. Hikaru definitely had his share of dense moments but most of them seemed pretty familiar. He should have pulled the trigger on a few occasions but didn't, he should have been more honest with himself, etc but most of that is just your typically coming of age stuff. Basara didn't care at all. What's the biker's name? Rex? She was delicious and threw herself at him but he didn't care. This thread should really be "Who is denser about love?" and Mylene should be the Mac7 choice for her back and forth wtih Gamlin and Basara. If Basara loved anyone it was Sivil. Alto just sucks. He doesn't have that boyish apprehension because he's young and unconfident like Hikaru did. It seems like he has more of the Basara "What's a girl?" attitude going on... but Basara didn't really lead anyone on and Alto seems to let that happen.
  7. the VF-1S hikaru has been spotted at a few shows so pics of it are out there. It's really easy, just a few detail changes and since the head is swappable the VF-1A hikaru being out there a mock-up isn't hard at all.
  8. I remember seeing this at RT.com when someone mistakenly claimed that this was the MPC Beta. It is a beaut, that's for sure. I wonder how he solved the cockpit issues.
  9. Well, you guys have fun being afraid of your toys. As for me, I'm going to have fun posing mine. Now, for a taste of things to come!
  10. To me all this shoulder talk is a lot like the BP8 talk with the 1/48. I had one BP8 break and I'm pretty sure it was largely my fault but I heard others who insisted that they had handled the part with care and that it had seized or broken for some odd reason. I've owned a LOT of 1/48s (I'm not Godzilla mind you) and while I was a bit more cautious with that particular part it wasn't anything I lived in dread of. I had a few "Whoa, glad nothing broke" moments when the toy would slip in my hand but that was about as nerve racking as it got. This could be opposed to Yamato's monumental failure, the VF-0 toys. Those toys break, and break bad, with little interaction needed. I think it's just knowing how crappy the VF-0 shoulders are now that is ruining a lot of people's enjoyment of these new VF-1S toys. Just take a deep breath people and remember the BP8. Yes, there is a part here that can break but know this isn't the VF-0, it doesn't have to break on you. If you have gotten yourself so worried about it breaking it don't blame Yamato, that's an internal struggle you've got going on. Relax, enjoy the hell out of this toy, a LOT of people bought it and there seem to be more people complaining about their fear of it breaking than there are people actually saying it broke. Until that ratio changes there's no reason to do silly stuff like trying to loosen parts or fixing things that aren't broken. All that said, if the number broken does surge upward I'll be amongst the first to grab a pitchfork.
  11. I'm pretty sure MH has only shown the sillouette of Houquet to let us know that they intend to make one.
  12. Here's a comparsion pic of the Takatoku Chunky VF-1J Hikaru next to the 2001 Bandai version: I don't have an Origin of Valkyrie yet but eventually I should have a post similar to this one. From the looks of it the new Origin line is just a reissue of the 2001 versions with the exception of the Hikaru VF-1J now getting a heat shield.
  13. I think you guys may be over-reacting just a tad... I have a ton of fun posing mine and the design of the shoulders makes them even more poseable than they would if they locked into place (although I do agree, it would be extra sweet if they had a lock that you could unlock for an extended range of motion).
  14. Did any of the 2001 reissues have heat shields? I'm under the impression none of them did but all of these "origin" valkyries will?
  15. Yeah, in that particular example you're probably right but I think it makes it clear how easy it could have been to wedge in just about anything. All you really need to do (as a director) is include a scene of Roy looking away and switch to a shot of what he might be thinking of (SDF-1, VF-1, hot scantily clad women, etc.).
  16. THere was also rampant speculation the VF-1 would show up, a Low Vis in particular to canonize Yamato's paint scheme (shut up, no one wants to hear it was Bandai who was helping pay for the show). It would have been easy to have either show up in reality. The SDF-1 wouldn't necessarily have to be complete. Here's one way of doing it: Scene: Shin and Roy talking on a carrier: Shin: "The VF-0 is amazing. Perhaps this war is coming to an end." Roy: "This is just the beginning, a test bed for the REAL fighter in development" (cut to image of a VF-1 fighter taking off on some desolate airstrip, perhaps with some obvious testing mechanisms. Return to two pilots talking) Shin: "Then the war must be coming to an end." Roy: "Regardless of what happens here, we have the upper hand. The alien spaceship is within our territory and before long we'll have a technological advantage the Anti-UN can not compete with." (cut to image of the SDF-1 under construction on South Ataria).
  17. I watched this movie for the first time a few years back when a buddy said "Holy crap, I just found Krull on DVD!" "Really?" I asked, "Let's watch it" not admitting I had no idea what the hell he was talking about. Then we watched it... I got bored with it half way through and got so hammered I ended up hooking up with a horrendous looking girl at some point during the evening. About a year later the hideous girl introduced me to her gorgeous sister (seriously, it's like Arnie and Danny D from Twins). I thought I was getting places with the cute one when she pulled the "Wait, you don't think we're going to hook up do you? I can't hook up with a guy who hooked up with my sister" line. In short: watching Krull ruins your odds of sleeping with hot girls. Oddly enough, I randomly kissed a girl a few months after being shot down by that cute sister during a Rambo commercial and have been dating her ever since. So, Rambo is the good in this world that cancels out the evil which is Krull.
  18. If there ends up being a super queen or king Vajra on that planet I totally called it and you "hives don't work that way" folks can shower me with apologies! Then again, I haven't seen the most recent episode and it may contradict that theory entirely... in which case I apologize to all of you for having brought it back up.
  19. How are those bigger wings going to work in Soldier mode? Looks much improved in fighter.
  20. Yes, the way things currently are the wings do get in the way and yes, the waist did function on the version 1 but it was limiited in its range (althought not quite as limiited as the waist on the 1/48 which is limited both by the wings and the swing bar).
  21. Nope, I can definitely think of ways to make a much more articulated perfect transforming toy. If I was much cooler I'd draw up diagrams on how to do it. You can make it so the waist turns and functions (you'd probably need a larger scale), you could make it so the wings recess, and you could make it so the knees could do more than a 90 degree angle.
  22. Simmer everyone, Save says there's no indication this is more than a custom.
  23. I'd much rather have a toy be perfect transformation and have some ugly bits than imperfect transformation ANY day. Non PT toys inevitably fall apart, pieces pop off and get lost, and usually they're not visually all that much better. Even in larger scale non-PT toys like the Yamato 1/60 V1 just suck. Yes, the Toynami 1/100 could look and function better in many respects but it's still a nice compromise in all three modes and gets the job done (the swing bars are TEENY in comparison to older toys although they do need a lock). As far as I'm concerned, if they're going to charge $39.99 for these then there better be a LOT of engineering going into them and that better mean they're perfect transformation. I don't think a Lego version of transformation should run nearly this expensive. If it's $39.99 and twice as nice as the Toynami 1/100 I'm going to LOVE this line.
