  1. LOL. Can we all just say both are fugly and move on? Man, I just checked RT.com and MEMO is pointing to a video where Tommy says "Studio Nue has the rights to the story, Tatsunoko has the economic rights to the TV show" as proof that Harmony Gold has rights to the story... sigh.
  2. Did I say that Kawamori hates MacII? I don't remember saying that, although I may have to irritate you over at RT.com, but I believe the company line is still "Kawamori never bothered watching MacII." Also, don't we know that Kawamori had nothing to do with the music in Mac7 but that was some other guy who worked on both projects (name totally escapes me)? Another point, the SAP was just an adaptation of a Kawamori design as reimagined futuristically... wouldn't it make sense to you that when Kawamori later does his own futuristic adaptation of his own work it might bare some similarities to his own design, and thus, the design that was also derived from his work? Finally, the similarities are far over-shadowed by the differences. This thing is organic looking and seems integrated into the VF-25 like the way it extends the wings both outward and back. The SAP carried more of the original fast pack elements as big chunky add ons. I'm not really trying to disparrage the VF-2SS (which I'm not a fan of) or the SAP, I'm just saying it's a bit short-sighted to think that Kawamori is deriving his inspiration from the work inspired by his work rather than his own work. You're kind of starting to sound like those Robotech fans who think that Robotech helped shape Macross sequels.
  3. Take a time out... stop fixating on MacII... then realize it looks almost nothing like the VF-2SS.
  4. How does that heatshield even work in the world of anime? That thing is huge. The only way I can imagine it working is if it was tucked in somewhere beneath and behind the cockpit in fighter mode and then swung on top in front of the head during transformation.
  5. Has OD raised their shipping prices or has the dollar taken a dump? I think it's the dollar since OD doesn't handle currency fluctuations as smoothly as HLJ.
  6. I love Overdrive and use them nearly exclusively. The only exceptions I make are for items they end up not carrying like some of the CMs Mospeada products.
  7. I know I'm way behind on the new releases but I just posted a review of the DX Armored Ozma. Here's a sample pic, head to anymoon.com for the full review:
  8. Destroids are awesome but a bit pricey. If you haven't checked out my reviews on anymoon.com I highly encourage you to do so.
  9. Forget the massive plot holes. What really pisses me off about the Haydonites is their terrible character and mecha designs. Okay, so Robotech has never had a good alien character design (Zents = humans, Masters = humans, only invid we see = humans) but hell, even the MASTERS had decent bad guy mecha designs. The Haydonite designs look totally budget minded. "Make the easiest to recreate enemies possible... we can't afford to animate anything else."
  10. Amen. My GF told me long ago that she'll never tell me what I can and can't do but that she'd appreciate me never getting into motorcycles (she's worked with law enforcement for a long time and had to deal with such fun activities as measuring how far apart different body parts of one biker have made it in a traffic collision). In my youth I built a road race Lingenfelter Corvette (Now THAT was an expensive hobby). These days I'm content to play with toys and nobody is complaining. That said... I get the feeling I'm going to be selling a bunch of toys off in the closet to make some room and free up some cash for future purchases.
  11. I got a package yesterday 1) Bandai Ex Gear Alto 2) Bandai Fold Effect Alto VF-25 3) Yamato 1/60 VF-1S LV 4) Yamato 1/60 VT-1 Hmmm... I feel like i'm forgetting something.
  12. Metalocalypse is fantastic. ATHF has its moments. Venture brothers is pure win. They have a lot of misses but occasionally they get some pretty good stuff in there. Thanks for these links... I don't have cable anymore so I need people to point me in the right direction every now and then
  13. Well they did add a stand so that's nice.
  14. They come on a blister card now huh? Did they drop the retail price? EDIT - I really hate Yamato's milking sometimes. They've shown pictures of GNUs with fastpacks/strike parts. Why are they now selling the toys without them? So they can double dip later. Weak.
  15. I agree.... this is boooooooooooooooorrrring. It takes all the blandness of the DYRL paint schemes and takes away the minimal trim.
  16. I go back and forth on the Toynami legs. Are they supposed to be extended in Battloid? I think they look better extended, like how you have them, but it seems like that's not how they're intended to be.
  17. I gotta imagine we'll get one. The VF-25 had lots of paint schemes to go through and the options don't really exist for the VF-27. It's a lot of work to make a toy for just one paint scheme.
  18. Yeah, what Ginrai said. Shadow Chronicles had no budget because there was no toy manufacturer sponsoring the show. Of course, not every show has a toy sponsor, the sponsor could be a network or just about any company with something to gain (Cup O' Noodles anyone?) but I think Shadow Chronicles was made using completely private funding.
  19. I can't surf toys daily but if it comes with a little stand I don't mind it not having landing gears so much. They were in a no win situation anyway. If they made it have landing gears you could plug in then people would have sniveled about how the landing gears weren't integrated. If they integrated the landing gears they would have looked hideous and small and people would have complained about that.
  20. So the VF100 line is dead huh? If the VF-25 was any indication of what we could have expected from future releases, I am anything but sad. Let's hope this new 1/100 Hi Metal line ends up being what we all hoped the VF100 line would be.
  21. 'Tis true... I bought all the original releases being a hardcore completist but just couldn't convince myself to get the "improved" version so you'll probably never see a post on it on my site unless I find one dirt cheap some day.
  22. Glad to hear it as I'm not overly impressed.
  23. This is definitely looking like a far superior DX to the VF-25 toys.
  24. I agree on the hand but I don't think the hips are convincing either way since the VF100 hips were awfully similar to the DX hips for the VF-25 toys (in so far as how they appear). That's a very unglamorous pic of that toy, whatever it is.
  25. I know I'm way late to the party but I finally got a review up of the VF-25F Armored edition VF100 toy.
