  1. Every Robotech Masterpiece ever released? I would think Toynami.com would have that but I might be able to do it off the top of my head: Series 1 VF-1 1) Rick Hunter MPC VF-1J 2) Ben Dixon MPC VF-1A 3) Roy Fokker MPC VF-1S 4) Max Sterling MPC VF-1J 5) Miriya Sterling MPC VF-1J 6) Jack Archer MPC YF-1R A) Rick Hunter Super Parts B) Max Sterling Super Parts C) Miriya Sterling Super Parts Series 2 Alpha 1) Scott Bernard VFA-6H 2) Rook Bartley VFA-6Z 3) Lancer VFA-6I 4) Sue Graham VFA-6X 5) Maia Sterling VFA-6ZX Series 3 Beta 1) Rand VFB-9H 2) Annie VFB-9Z 3) Lunk VFB-9I Series 4 Cyclone 1) Scott Bernard VR-052F 2) Rand O'Keef VR-052T
  2. I've got one of these toys on order, I'm hoping for a shipping notice soon (with my Grace VF-27 and DX display stand). I've got line art and similar toys waiting for comparison shots so I can get a good review of it done.
  3. I can't remember who, and digging through these forums could be a bear. IIRC, this person modded the v1 GBP to fit the V2 just prior to Yamato's announcement of the V2 GBP.
  4. Looks pretty darn good there... I see they went with the least efficient packaging possible though. "Let's spread things out and make the box bigger to make people feel better about dropping this kind of cash."
  5. someone has already modded a v1 to fit a v2... they should have all the answers.
  6. I think I'm actually going to dub this the first V2.2 release. What do you guys think: V2.0: Rainbow canopy, original crotch/hip connection V2.1: Rainbow canopy, Updated crotch/hip connection V2.2: Clear canopy, updated crotch/hip connection Is that too nitpicky?
  7. I think it's a mixed bag. If you have some valks with the treated windows then you probably would want the first edition... it's not like the old crotch system didn't work and the 1A Max/Hayao allegedly had okay shoulders.
  8. I would really hope that the re-releases have the improved crotch and removed rainbow effect.
  9. It may not be so much about the intelligence of the viewer but also the culture. It may be more a western cultural philosophy to try to interact more with the viewer (especially in children's programming). This might not be from the presumption of stupidity but rather from the fear that a child will wander to the next channel or form of entertainment if they aren't being constantly engaged. You might say that western producers feel that western audiences have a shorter attention span so a narrator spoon-feeding the plot to the viewer has the dual benefit of interacting with the viewer and simplifying the events.
  10. I'm really eager to see how the hip joint functions in my hands. Having it be able to extend away from the body could hugely improve articulation but if it comes at the expense of making the hip harder to angle that'd be a shame.
  11. This movie was pure win but I bought the original DVD and that's good enough for me.
  12. Finally did a review of the character figure set on anymoon.com
  13. Regardless of what version you got, it sounds like you got a real lemon. Even my v1 VF-0S was put together properly in the packaging.
  14. It's kind of funny to say it's because of the scale of the RD line because I coulda sworn the RD line is a non-scale line.
  15. Could sworn it sounded like a Faw-ker to me but that could just be my knowing how the name was spelled and hearing what I expected (in a Japanese accent no less). The point remains the same, Robotech is allowed to have different names and different pronounciation of names because it's an adaptation, not an attempt at a faithful translation.
  16. What doesn't make sense? His name in Macross is Roy Focker (pronounced "Fawker"). His name in Robotech is different, it's Roy Fokker (pronounced Foe-ker). It's not that his name in Robotech is mispronounced, it's a different name just like Hikaru Ichijo is not Rick Hunter.
  17. OOh I just remembered another one I loved, a game called Warsong. I heard it had lots of sequels (and maybe predecessors) in Japan and I always wished they would be brought over to the US.
  18. In Robotech his name is Fokker, not Focker, and is pronounced as it is in Robotech. If you're not upset that they keep mispronouncing Hikaru as "Rick" then you shouldn't have a problem with Roy's last name. As it's been pointed out, Fokker as it appears in Robotech is actually a more accurate homage to the Fokker airplane. I like Robotech. As a cartoon for kids in the 80s it was one of the better examples. Are you an adult right now critically analyzing an 80s cartoon? Well, chances are then you're going to find LOTS wrong with it. It does suffer from technobabble, macguffins, terrible animation quality (at times), plot holes, occasionally awkward voice acting (although I've seen MUCH worse), and what I think is a pretty terrible second generation.
  19. shooters: Gaiares (i think I'm spelling that right) was one of my favorites
  20. Who is Tasha Yar? Was she the security guard who slept with Data? That rerun was on the other night.. HI-larious.
  21. I concur. I hope to buy the Blazer some day, I prefer it to the Kai, but since I have the Kai I'm going to try to score the blazer at absolute bargain prices.
  22. yeah, that category was invented long after that post and I had forgotten to update it until you mentioned I should do one.
  23. http://anymoon.com/blog/2007/05/22/yamato-160-q-rau-max-miria-versions/ It's a very old post, desperately needs some updating to compare it to the Robot Spirits toy and the line art. Updating the post is on my "things to do" list. Originally I scored this toy higher.

  25. I hear Bandai is not going to bundle the super parts (but almost certainly will release them). The idea is that the economy in Japan is not very good and there seems to be a toy buying threshold just above where they're going to be selling their Hi-Metal VF-1. The price + super parts is viewed as above that buying threshold. So, I'm not expecting to see any bundles until this line picks up some momentum. The same logic is also why the VF-19K toy has had so much after the fact development. They figured people would balk at the idea of purchasing it for just a tiny bit more than its MSRP but if people really liked it they might pick up the extras that might have otherwise come bundled with a more expensive toy separately.
