Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)

I'd say the heaviness is perfect. The metal is in good places... where it can't do any harm by weighing on joints. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)

Yep, exactly the same tab broke on mine... I'm guessing the japanese instructions say "Be careful not to go too far!" but that didn't help me. It sucks because you really want to get it fully extended to get a good GERWALK pose so I can see lots of people breaking that tab not just in the first transformation when things are super stiff but later when they're trying to pose the toy in GERWALK. Having the tab broken actually makes GERWALK more fun to pose... but that doesn't make me feel much better about it. On a 1 to 10 scale? If I hadn't broken mine I'd probably give it a 9 or 9.5. Fighter mode has a couple parts that can move freely during handling which is a pet peeve of mine. I couldn't give it a 10 because of the lack of truly perfect transformation. Since it costs just south of a billion bucks and it broke on its first transformation I might be more apt to give it an 8.5. Still a great toy and if people learn from the mistakes of us early converts a lot of people are really going to love this thing. -
Yep, I think the lack of Robotech on Robot Chicken is two fold - obscurity of the reference and crappiness of the merchandise. When people hear about my website they more often say "what's a Robotech" than "OMG I totally remember that show!"

Got the first hunk of my review up... broke mine already but I think it's a good toy none-the-less. -

I actually got a version of that malware on my work computer just before a big deadline. I think it was XP Security 2011. SUCKED. I picked up from going to msnbc.com. I probably clicked on a story that led to a different site where the malware had managed to get hosted. I didn't choose to run anything. I was pissed. So anyway, my IT guys decide to image my computer instead of removing the virus to some image from YEARS ago. What a pain. -

I'm afraid it just means "I don't really know." If I ever get an upgraded Maia I'll be happy to let you guys know my impressions. From what I've heard from surfin' the web it seems like most people think it's better than most MPCs but that's not exactly the highest praise. On that note, of all the Legioss toys I have ever reviewed, the best scoring one just got an updated review on my website. -
Sofubi Zentraedi character + remaining destroid giftset FTW!

Well I just ponied up and sent my money... seeing that charge on the credit card statement will definitely help reduce my enthusiasm... let's hope this toy kicks major tail. Of course, I'll be sharing my opinions with you all -

If HLJ carries it, I'll probably buy it.

it looks like there's the soundbooster in the background, do we have more pics of that?

Glad you like the site! I would pick up a reissue of the Maia MPC but I'd have to find it at a very steep discount. I'm not much of a Shadow Chronicles fan but I heard they're decent as far as MPC Alpha toys go. -

Both are dead due to poor sales. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force

Even if it is a D you'll be getting your S later and I'm pretty sure we all have a long while to save for this bad boy. -
Ooh we've entered the irrational exuberance phase... this is always the best time. Let's hope it's not followed by the "did anyone else have an arm snap off?" "OMG AGAIN?" phase.

Glad you like the site. If Yamato says they are selling a YF-19 with fast packs then they are selling both boxes together as Renato has seen in some stores. They never did release a version with the toy and the fast packs in one box. The box with the fast packs also includes "upgrade" parts. These parts let you attach the fast packs and also increase the articulation of the figure.
-
That makes sense. HLJ had the upgrade parts sold separately, that's what I had to do to get them.

I have never been able to do those magic eye things. 3D movies work fine for me though.

I just double-checked to verify, the Beagle Ride Armors have the Tatsunoko seahorse on them so Tatsunoko still has domestic rights. Even if HG owned both Japanese and international rights Yamato could still play ball. BW's licensing agreement doesn't prevent the companies they work with from dealing with HG entirely, it just prevents them from dealing with HG for Macross-related goods. -

Get three HPZR24Ws! Run all three in displayport! WIN WIN WIN! That was my plan... but then my job got insane and when you're working 70 hours a week there's not much time for gaming any more. -

Yamato can make Mospeada merchandise without issue. It's BigWest that prevents the Macross deals from working. Yamato(or any other company) would have to license the Mospeada goods with Tatsunoko for domestic distribution and then arrange a separate licensing deal with HG. This is the same for Macross but with Macross when a manufacturer asks for the domestic rights BW structures the agreement so that the manufacturer in question agrees not to attempt to merchandise the same or similar products internationally. Tatsunoko would make no such stipulation and HG would be extremely eager for any licensing income. Of course, that's not going to happen. The 30th anniversary for Mospeada is only a couple years away. I've heard that this is generating some interest... but I think it's more the "sweet resin kits at Wonderfest" kind of interest rather than the new toys kind of interest. -
I have two reviews up on anymoon.com, one for the toy and one for the upgrade parts sold separately. The upgrade parts are sold separately, they do not come in the same box. So, if someone says they have an upgraded version for sale they should also show two boxes.

The Hi-Metal Bandai line is a wonderful second choice... I hope that line doesn't die.

It depends, initially the replacement parts people were sent were from the initial production run so they basically sent you the same shoddy part. I remember I received two replacement hinges and before I even put them on my toy one had broken in its little baggy. They sent out more replacement parts when they did their next production run and those seem to be holding up just fine. I was burned by saying "Yamato V2s should be safe now" once before (then Yamato shipped out their VT-1 and Hikaru GPB with problematic shoulders) but I think we may have finally rounded the corner on these issues.

Gauging interest for 1/55 MOSPEADA FIGURES!!!
jenius replied to Jasonc's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Jason, do you have the CMs toys? They come with some figures you should check out. I haven't measured them but they should be very similar in scale. - -
Assuming pristine condition, this would be my approximation of value: I also have seen a pristine Strike valks go for $300-$400, Elintseekers and SuperOs are more like $600. Obviously it only takes a couple keen bidders to make this way off if you go the eBay route.
