I'm a huge fan of the Hi-Metal toys. I think they're well worth MSRP. I'm really bummed to see the line die because with the newest VF-25 V2 toy costing 75% more than original with shipping and currency fluctuation, now seems like the perfect time to invest in a smaller scale line with a much lower MSRP. As far as Toynami goes, they weren't sophisticated enough to deliver good Robotech merchandise and they shot themselves in the foot with the brand and now can't make money with it. Since they can't make money with it there's no incentive to release the toys even if there is a minority still wanting their remaining products badly. I'd love to see the Glaug and the 1/100 VF-1 toys make it to release... but I know there aren't a whole lot of people like me.

I hear that release date is 'optimistic'. Someone asked me if I wanted it and said they expected it out q1 -

Sadly my motherboard (Rampage III Formula) only has two SATA III ports so if it's the port I'm hosed. There is good reason to suspect the port though as I originally had my SSD connected to this port and my computer wouldn't boot from it. Switched ports and everything was hunky dorey (I assumed that was just a quirk about port priority that most bigger computer buffs would know). Ran a quick diagnostic, no errors. So, the only possibility it sounds I have much control over is the cable. Do you happen to know if the SATA III cable is the same as SATA II? The only reason I question it is because my motherboard came with wires specifically labeled SATA III but that may just be marketing junk. I have lots of SATA cables to swap out if they're all the same. -

I don't know what "large" is but I have folders with hundreds of pictures in them and there's no instant re-sort of how things are listed. I do have a neat problem of my own though: I have an SSD as my primary boot drive and for the programs I want to fly open (photoshop for example). I have a SATA III Caviar Black 1TB drive for all my documents. Occasionally, without any warning or obvious reason, my computer stops detecting the Caviar Black. So, I'll be photo-editing, go to browse my photos, and I have to reboot the computer to find the drive. A reboot always resolves it. Any idea what might be causing this? It's been fairly consistent since installation. No odd sounds or errors. -

My Win7 doesn't do that... -
Curse my lack of cable! You can only watch on Cartoon Network if you have a cable provider and Youtube has some badly broken up bits and pieces (which I watched and looked good). When will this go on Hulu?

Ha, you mean one of these looks closer to the line art than the other? -

I think y'all are crazy... Ball joint ankles offer way better articulation which makes battroid way more fun. Stiffening up joints wouldn't be difficult but maybe i'm spoiled since my 19 is still solid as new. -
If Yamato has taught us anything it's that we should expect reissues when demand dictates it. I would never throw too much money down on a Yamato product... it almost always will burn you. I would LOVE to see a Yamato 1/48 V2

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
jenius replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Thanks, glad you like the review... I spent a lot of time photo-documenting the upgrades from the VF-25 and VF-27. I would give the edge to the YF-29 for the broader appeal but, from a scoring perspective, I gave it the edge because it comes with a stand. I had my VF-19 out while doing this review and I REALLY enjoy that toy... but for like $100 less the YF-29 is hard to beat. I also HATE the VF-19 GERWALK mode (not because of the toy... but because I think the GERWALK design of the VF-19 sucks) and I really enjoyed the YF-29's GERWALK so that's another thing to consider. -
It's gotta be the sound booster... maybe it comes with the whole Fire Bomber band?

Okay, I'm late to another party... but my review is up: -
I'm not sure how to get the replacement wings... but the difference is so minor that I don't even think I'm going to put them on my toy. http://www.yamato-toys.com/after/info/info110607.html

Did anyone hear about the replacement wings Yamato offered for the VF-19Kai? I was told that there was a paint issue with the original wings so I requested a pair. They arrived today... and it looks like the "paint issue" was that the red and blue tiny tips on the wings were reversed. That seems like the most minor "paint issue" I've ever seen in my life. The good news is, other than the few of us who heard replacements were offered, there should be a way to tell first editions from second editions (should second editions ever be made).

I saw an episode last night. Just some random episode. I should watch a random episode of classic Voltron to compare to. My memory of the classic show was that it was utterly terrible. The new Voltron seemed fine enough for a kids cartoon compared to the other rubbish they get to choose from these days... now to go watch the first episode of the new Thundercats.

yes, v2 is third gen.

I've done a couple reviews that I believe would cover what you're looking for: Yamato V2 Yamato 1-48

Some hold their values better than others. I think Yamato got hit pretty hard by the economic collapse and so they over-estimated quantities and are still wiping out that inventory at reduced rates. I would guess smaller runs will be made of future releases which should limit the 50% off sales.

Anyone know where I can get some good line art for my review? -
Doubtful, I don't think I want a Phalanx THAT much. This will require pensive fingers to the chin for a while.

I currently have six destroids... And no modeling skills. Not sure what i'll do about this...

the solution is to put a dot of Elmer's glue, nail polish, or something else on the ball or to tighten a screw (where possible).
