Custom Bandai/Matchbox 1/3000 SDF-1 Macross vintage
jenius replied to Ranka-Killer's topic in The Workshop!
I believe he was banished for selling recasts. -
1) to be as tall as other DX toys 2) because someone else is actively selling 1/60 vf-1 toys

Rush? It's been brewing for how long? There's no rush there... In fact, it looks like they're going to miss 2018.

You scared me so I checked, I could login and I see my one PO still outstanding.

Negative, +24 hours.

You have to wait until 4PM Japan time on the pre-destined date, then stalk the retailer of your choice refreshing constantly, and try to put it in your basket and check out before the site crashes. It's fun!

Oh man, the licensing conversation is always just reading tea leaves with this hobby. That said, I was told long ago that all licenses get re-bid when new shows are made so basically, forget what you know and what you've seen because all that might be changing while I type this. Of course, Bandai didn't care about Macross Zero last time around and it's a good bet they still won't so that seems to be a lock for Arcadia. Destroids though? Not that I don't want them but they sold horribly and almost certainly lost Yamato money so I wouldn't expect them. Yamato teased doing assembly kit destroids, I wonder if that'd be a possibility?

I hate to be all doom and gloom but I believe "picking up the pace" in the face of competition that has an edge in every conceivable metric is just a way to go out of business very quickly. If I were at Arcadia, I'd be making the push to pick up a new license that Bandai doesn't care about... like they didn't care about Macross 15 years ago. Then I would just pop off a Macross reissue as demand dictated so I knew it would just be printing money.

It has improved instructions and mine feels great. No smudgy wings and no rattle where the two pieces of metal come together. I haven't had to glue anything back together yet either... though I haven't applied the ordinance yet.

inspired me to look at mine. 29/300. I wonder why it's Macross instead of Robotech on the front?

So it says this is an early release, does that mean they're going to be doing another release like six months later of the same scheme but maybe without a display stand and a different box?
-
Agreed... those gaps! really hope the final version is much tighter.

The take on that is really just that the older ones came in nicer boxes and are hotter collectibles, the reissues had more painted on detail rather than hastily applied stickers. If you're shopping for a 1/55 and you don't care about it being exactly the toy you had as a kid, it's much smarter to go with a reissue. It will cost you less and it will most likely be in much better condition. I believe someone said that "1/48 scale" is said during the commercial.
-
I'll be doing a full photo dump later tonight. I got some great hi-res photos of this statue and the 1/72 CW VF-1.
-
Arcadia already said a 1/48 V2 was cost prohibitive and, seeing at what they've been doing, it seems a 1/60 V3 was also cost prohibitive. It's going to be very interesting to hear the price on this thing... if it's close to existing DX prices than Arcadia is going to have a hard time justifying a lot of 1/60 V2 releases. They gotta tell us the price soon right?
-
Looks pretty standard to me.

While it may use that system, it does make one wonder how the nosecone can look so short while the head is simultaneously in the correct lower position, like there must be a gimmick just behind the pilot's seat allowing some of the mass there to move out of the way as the head swings up to avoid the Yamato V2 priest collar.
-
I wonder if the feet can extend for additional articulation.
-
I hope it has the twist at the gerwalk joint, that has been a clever addition. We need a full spread soon!
-
I talked to a sideshow guy, that is an early mock up and they expect to make minor revisions, like to the hair.
