  1. Thanks for the feedback and good catch, I was referring to the Macross SHF so I should clarify there. As I wrote the review, for the Rick content more specifically, I got the feeling I was being a bit nit-picky and was afraid I wasn't doing things right (like all the issues I had with the hair/visor/helmet conflicts). Tonight I'll pull out some other items (like the RIobots again) and do some group shots which should be fun. I'll probably elaborate on the conclusion a bit more too. Overall it's a fun toy and well built so I want to make sure that comes across despite all the nit-picking. EDIT - and I just figured out a little issue with my helmet hair that was stopping it from pushing in all the way and was creating a lot of the problems. So yay, I'll re-write the stuff about the hair causing helmet problems.
  2. Anybody with a KC Rick Hunter want to proof the draft of my review? http://anymoon.com/blog/?p=13891 I still have more pictures to take and add and a video to shoot but I've been playing with it for a bit and want to make sure I'm not missing something.
  3. A little caveat there, I generally try not to buy from Yahoo japan unless it's a very rare item, generally the international stores would be cheaper. For this item, I would wait until release, try to snag it from a retailer, and if that failed, grab one from Yahoo Japan at close to retail (domestic shipping, tax, and other fees will then bloat the price but save you a bit from NY's current rate.
  4. Generally yes, watch out, you generally pay for domestic shipping, bank transfer fees, frequently domestic tax which is going up to 10%, plus the third party commission, then international shipping... For most new items it doesn't make sense... Unless it's being scalped.
  5. I use fromjapan
  6. It's nearer retail on Yahoo Japan.
  7. Sounds crazy, Arcadia is probably going to send out feet to people, just be patient.
  8. Right, so disassembling the foot is a fool's errand at this point right? The move is to remove the entire foot and trade the entire foot with someone? Sounds like removing the foot just takes two screws so we should be able to get a little foot market place going?
  9. It requires people removing the whole foot and swapping with each other right?
  10. Question for you guys that got the Rick Hunter figure as I just start to play with mine: There's a fun little flip down visor in the helmet but that only works when you don't install the hair that goes with the helmet right? You have to have the figure completely sans hair to get that visor to work? Every time I try to have the visor down and the hair on they mash into each other.

    Hi-Metal R

The ones in the back must be standing on some really strong crates!
  12. All the usual suspects but you need to wait until it hit shelves and then hop on one of the listings as soon as it goes live.
  13. I still can't believe that the TV Max paint scheme was the second DX release....
  14. Yeah, I have one that was a very similar experience to your own that I glued in fighter.
  15. If you want a permanent fighter mode one to pair it with, let me know!

I want them to re-engineer the 1S head so it's a ball joint like they did for the other heads and then re-release Hikaru as a 1A/1S and do the same for Max.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Yep, much to most people's chagrin.
  18. Love that intro shot.. I haven't opened my MP-44 and at this rate, I'm not sure I ever will. I think I might have to stop collecting MP Transformers... I just don't have the time.

Actually the Hi-Metal VF-1S Focker is a DYRL release (came with strike parts) so the 1As are color matched to it. That's why Kakizaki came with the four pack box: The lighting and sea of white is tricky but here's the group shot: Hikaru 1J is brighter white.
  20. I'm in no rush at all, I like that they're doing non-canon, LE stuff. I have tons of canon valks in every other line. That's not to say I wouldn't mind some canon releases but Rick/Hikaru is set for December and that's good by me. If they do 4 releases a year going forward, I think that'd be great... even if only 2 are canon. The black & gold says it's worldwide limited to 600... is this different from the HK run of 660? Like, there are now a total of 1260? If anyone orders one, can you post a picture of the label on the box? I just want to make sure I reflect the appropriate thing on anymoon and I'm not going to order a second one to find out
  21. It's coming soon, but that is all. Sentinel isn't a huge shop and they have a lot in the pipeline. A few delays like we've seen with Yellow's ride armor probably means a whole lot of reshuffling on their end. I did hear that Yellow was essentially made to order. It's possible that after they closed the order window a few retailers came back to them and asked for more stock so they decided to increase the production run. That happened with Stick and Ley and, in that instance, they did that second release a few months later.

I honestly didn't do much for the HMR Hikaru VF-1A because I assumed we'd be getting Max and Kakizaki's DYRL VF-1A toys shortly there after and it'd be more fun to review them and shoot them together.... but obviously I guessed wrong. The color difference is the same as it was for Roy/Hikaru though:
  23. Could you swap the feet with each other once you got it to that point? L to R and vice versa? Would that solve it? EDIT - I guess that would only solve it in the very specific instance you got them installed opposite... but if you have two of the same you'd have to trade with someone first.
  24. I probably wouldn't be so kind to the MPC Alphas but, with exception of those awful hands, they are generally better than the Aoshima toys. It's a shame, Aoshima had some good ideas but they allegedly let Toynami choose the factory to outsource everything to and the result was a disaster. Aoshima toys have way more paint flaws and warped parts than the Toynamis (though MPC alphas had their fair share of crooked landing gear and ill-fit). Maybe because the Aoshima toys are newer, or maybe because Aoshima re-worked the intakes, I haven't had any Aoshima toys break in the center of the chest like several of my MPC Alpha toys have (that breakage seems to be way more common with age as I've handled lots of MPC alphas but only recently had them all start splitting in the chest. As for Maia Version 2, I've never transformed her so I can't say, but it stands to reason that she should be the best of the lot. That said, I've been warned in the past that she has many of the same faults as earlier MPC toys. Can she hold the gun in battloid?
