OK guys dont make me get one and go the whole 9yards with the seam filling, screw patching, low vis paint, stenciling and grubby combat weathering. I might just enjoy it too much.
Did some more work on the Xwing today. Got the wings attached and some more underside weathering.
Those mechs look great, Too bad noone makes a 1/35 scale vulture
I freehand mine and always use a low presure on my airbrush. double action helps. Theres a good example in the thread linked below. All it takes is a little practaice and youll get the free hand soft edge pattern down no problems.

No i think im at the same level of geekdom as the rest of you. Its the people who buy TOYS and disassemble them just to rebuild them and try to call themselves modelers that are bigger geeks.
IM NOT A GEEK IM A MODELER!
Ill take mine with or without. Its big enough i ought to be able to stencil the major markings on it and use random small decals for tiny detail stencils. Id just need a scan of the full size sheet to use for a stencil template.
Im hoping that what you say is correct on the not needing anime magic Honneamise. If it i strue then i will not be gluing certain parts to my VF-0S /w Booster when i build it so i can swap the boosters between the 2 using magnets in the parts.
I left my Fast pack engine bells off till last so they could be painted seperately. Actually i did this with all the thrusters on the packs. The areas the vernier thrusters sit in will need a metal color in them as well. I used testors Jet Exhaust for mine.
Actually 3 SV-51s are in work 1 is the balsa prototype to see if the airframe was even flightworthy(it was) and the other 2 are even better foam models, hand made by Luke(IAD). The man does wonderful work and if the weather is good his first foam airframe is going up for maiden flight testing this weekend.
The second foam SV will have any needed changes incorporated into the design and then will be sent to me.
I dont know if luke will do it but there have been plans in work at his RC acft group for a YF/VF-19. A few different variations of the VF-1 have been done but they arent too aerodynamically different fom an F-14 without horizontal stabs.
Wow. Need to educate the wives guys. Mine knows the diff between a VF-1 A,J,AND S, Also knows the diff between a VF-0 and SV-51. Then again she likes macross alot too and watches it with me. nevermind.
