Those screenshots definitely make the game look better. A Darkstalkers remake? I believe a new Morrigan sprite is universally considered to be the first sign of the Apocalypse.

Excellent, looks like I'll be picking this one up then. The optional frameart also sounds great. -

Did Sega clean up the graphics at all? From the screenshots I've seen it looks like a straight port, in which case I'll stick with my Saturn version. The online feature is nice addition, but I'm worried that in true PS2 online fashion the load times will far exceed the match times. It's still nice to see the original on another console so that other people can check it out. -
It's absolutely worthless. Everyone knows Toynami's are where it's at.

lol! Actually that is a good question! They're probably said "We hate our Western customers, they always complain about their toys not being bulletproof. Why can't they just be happy with endless Minmay figures like our native customers!"

You're right, Graham wouldn't be in violation of his NDA if he were to say X, Y and Z are not going to be released. But Yamato isn't legally obliged to correspond with Graham either, if Graham does go ahead and say that Z, Y and Z aren't going to be released then Yamato can simply choose never to meet up with him again. I remember a couple of years ago one of our members posted a fake picture of a 1/72 YF-19 "prototype" and Yamato got severely pissed at Graham even though he had 0 involvement, it would seem that Yamato can be very testy and it's best that Graham not push that envelope.

With regards to live-action movies, I don't think Japan will import ours since ours usually don't have Japanese subtitles or dubs. As for anime, that's a good possibility. I guess the only deterrent would be the chance that a Japanese fan's favorite anime may not ever see a US release, or if it does then they'll have to wait another year or longer for it to be released here. -
I didn't think Rondo was hard, I cleared it in my first sitting. It's difficulty is on par with old-school Castlevania games, but since I grew up playing those games I probably had an advantage. With the exception of the Grim Reaper and Shaft's ghost, you can pretty much beat all the bosses with constant attacks, there's no real strategy involved. If the game does give you problems then play as Maria with her turtle familiar, nothing's going to stop you then. The hardest classic Castlevania, IMO, is on the X68000 (re-released as Castlevania Chronicles on the PS1).

The Xbox 360 Thread Elite Edition

http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/08/10/news_6130691.html Overall, I'd say it's a niche market for arcade sticks. But I think the primary reason is that all 3rd party controllers have to pay royalties to Microsoft. There are also a lot of other annoying stipulations involved with the licensing, but I think royalites are still the main culprit. As for some companies that've reverse engineered their own controllers into working on the 360, I've heard rumors that MS has sent out (and will continue to do so) dashboard updates that locks out these unlicensed controllers. -

I don't know about the rest of you, but I personally hate the d-pad on the 360 controller. My disdain was cemented when I played Street Fighter 2 on XBL Arcade, I had such a difficult time doing simple QCF and charge moves. I gave it some time figuring it's just a learning curve, but after a few weeks I still felt the d-pad was inaccurate. Instead of paying $70 for a stick, I replaced the 360 d-pad with the d-pad from the old Xbox1 S-type controller. It's a perfect fit and was easy to do, no soldering or glue required. But be warned, in order to replace the d-pad you'll have to disassemble your 360 controller which will void its warranty. The 7th screw to remove is covered by the SKU, so you'll need to remove or punch through the SKU to unscrew it. Your white controller will also look a little odd with a black d-pad, but hey. -
Good question. I think 360 add-ons are just gamertag specific. Chowser, if you can download the add-ons for free on your son's console could you also see if you can access them if the 360 isn't online? Xbox Live Arcade games are another story, they're console and gamertag specific. If you paid for and downloaded, say Contra, then your xbox died the next month, you'd need to slap your old hard drive on your replacement system. The game will still be stored on the old hard drive but you won't be able to play Contra on your new console until you sign in to Xbox Live with your gamertag. Sadly you'll have to do this each time you want to play Contra from then on. I guess Microsoft doesn't want people selling hard drives loaded with games.

I wish! First off, the backgrounds are still going to be 2D and in all honesty they look pretty juvenile. Second, the new backgrounds are going to feature less animation than the original. As for the character sprites, they're going to feature the same number of frames of animation as the original game, so don't expect SF III fluidity. All they're doing is redrawing the sprites, backgrounds, and I believe include remixed music. There's also going to be an additional mode that's going to be more balanced than the original, but again the game still won't have any additional frames of animation or 3D backgrounds. The Double Dragon XBL game employed the same technique: redraw the old sprites in HD but keep the frame count the same. Let me just say that it sounds much better than it actually looks. http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/digital.p..._w_first_bg_art

It depends on your locale. I remember talking to Baraiburu Faita over a year ago and he said that Hikaru, who went for $50+ in the US, could be found for about $10 in Japan back then. Conversely, the numerous Minmay figures that weren't worth much in the US all sold for a pretty penny in Japan.

LOL! Now Capcom of America is saying that Capcom of Japan is developing the game. http://www.capcom.com/BBS/showpost.php?p=3...mp;postcount=52 I hope it's true, but then again COA did say that Guile's brother was Gunloc from Saturday Night Slam Masters and COA was an inch away from including Sheng Long in the Street Fighter: The Movie arcade.

It's official, SF IV is going to suck. Capcom of Japan explained that they're not involved with SF IV and it's basically a Capcom of America project. Hello Final Fight Revenge and SF: The Movie! "The title is fundamentally a development on the American side. There is nothing that we can domestically comment at the current time, including its platform or release period." http://www.gpara.com/article/cms_show.php?...27&c_num=14

When was the last time a demo helped push system sales? I remember Zone of Enders and Crackdown sold very well due to the bundled MGS2 and Halo 3 demos, but I don't recall anyone buying a PS2 or 360 just for those demos. -

http://www.isuppli.com/news/default.asp?id=6919 Here's a breakdown of the cost of each component in the PS3. Mind you these number are a year old so it's safe bet that some of the components have gone down a couple of dollars. And now that the Emotion Engine and memory card board are gone Sony has saved themselves quite a bit of money, I'd estimate they're probably losing $140 on each system now. This is definitely much better than the $241.35 they were losing at launch. And to Sony's credit, the PS3 is a rock solid system so they're not wasting money on thousands of system repairs, unlike Microsoft. -
Before you guys get too excited just remember that Capcom has lost most of their old 2D programmers. Most of the talented staff that gave us Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and SF III 3rd Strike are long gone. The only ones left gave us...Capcom Fighting Jam But I will say that I'll be looking forward to seeing sprites done by Udon. By all accounts Capcom is very pleased with Udon's work and I'm pretty certain they'll be involved with SF IV's art. I also have to give props to Capcom for sticking with the "IV" numbering system instead of calling it something like SF: A New Beginning. I'm just worried this game will have beautiful 2D Udon sprites with the gameplay of Mortal Kombat 1.

Nah, thanks to aggresive compression CD games can retain their full soundtracks. Castlevania SOTN was about 95mb on the 360, and if I'm not mistaken SOTN has even more CD music than Gate of Thunder.

I agree that the 360's are pretty crappy when it comes to durability, a few people are still claiming to be on their release day system while others have easily gone through 3 replacements, but we'll see if the new 65nm CPU helps out any. As for me, I purchased a 360 two weeks ago. When it came to choosing between the PS3 and the 360, the choice was obvious: 360. While the PS3 is a very robust system that probably won't ever crap out on me, there just aren't any games that I want for it. I wouldn't mind giving Heavenly Sword and Resistance a while, but those seem to be games that I'd rather rent for 2 - 3 days than actually own. Furthermore there are definitely going to be more pricecuts coming down the line so I see no reason to plunk down money for this system. Perhaps in another year or two the PS3 will shape up to be a worthy contender with a healthy library of games, but for now there's absolutely no reason to buy one at a higher cost and a smaller selection of games. When it comes to the 360 there are a lot more games that I'd be willing to purchase because they are great games and/or have excellent Live support, such as Halo 3, Ace Combat 6, or Katamari. As for the lag, I've yet to see anything of significance on Halo 3 even during Big Team Battles. The 360 also just witnessed a pricecut last month that I was able to take advantage of. There may even be another pricecut for the holiday season, but nothing's guaranteed as the 360 is currently selling very well and MS doesn't need to give us another pricecut to remain competitive, unlike Sony. But I'm not going to kid myself, statistically my system will probably 3RROD after a year. It's going to suck having to pack it up and mail it back to MS, but I've got plenty of other games on my PS2 that I can finally complete during the 360's hiatus. Hopefully the free 360 I get back will have the future Jasper board, but if it doesn't I'll just trade mine in and use the store credit towards purchasing a Jasper 360 which should be out by then. Just an FYI for anyone who doesn't know, but the Jasper will feature a 65nm CPU and GPU. If this doesn't solve the 3RROD then I don't know what will. -
