  1. The price of the accesory pack would vary then, depending on the amount of stuff in the pack. But the logic for doing it that way is that a person might not be interested in fold booster so they have the choice to just buy a naked valk. Similar to how some want GPB side parts and smaller-than-gbp-but-bigger-then-chicken-hands hands for thier valk but wish the side parts could be bought as seperate rather than with gbp. Just to go a bit OT: I think yamato should just release side parts with all future 1/48 vf1 releases. As it is you are forced to pay for a gbp to get side parts and similarly there may be people who feel they are forced to pay for the fold booster to get the 19. (and not be interested in using a light up booster and want to save money) but by adding extra stuff (beyond fold booster) in the accesory pack (like the heavy weapon thing for the 19, or the atmospheric booster for the vf11) people who want them can pay for them along with the FP parts; upgrading it to super version of whatever valk they want to "upgrade" to. anyway it was just an idea..
  2. Er..Yeah but I was reffering to when they get to the vf11 in the macross plus line. Each valk gets an "accesory pack" with things specific to it: -all 3 get the fold booster and maybe some extra hands (related to thier valk) as a bonus yf-19 gets: FP, fold booster, underarm weapon, hands etc vf-11 gets: FP, (different from yf19 FP of course) fold booster, atmpspheric booster, hands etc (this might be the more expensive of the packs just from what you get) yf21 gets: FP, fold booster, hands, etc (edit: fighter mode side pieces?) and so on... (unlike the vf0, do not include the FP. Just release them naked like the 1/48 vf1 line to encourage people to buy the fold booster with each valk) The fold booster is not specific to the valk. But the extra FP, hands etc are. Chuck all of this in the accesory pack (related to the valk the accesory pack is for) like they have been doing with vf1 line (the super and strike parts, the GBP with side parts etc) so that people can choose to only have the naked valk. (some might prefer not to want the fold booster and be forced to pay for it you see what I am saying?)
  3. Graham: Any chance of them doing the booster or weapon that was was seen in the anime? I would buy it as a seperate add on just like the super and strike parts set for the 1/48. Maybe it won't look perfect but think about how vf1j is suddenly more attractive to a collector when he knew a GBP was going to come out? Yamato can milk more of the 19 with accessory packs. As an example I am likely to want to get 2 roy vf0s just so I can display roy wearing reactive armor (assuming one gets made) and roy in plane mode. I don't normally buy multiples. So with that logic, if they made the accesory pack people are more enticed to get more than one 19. Here's my thinking: -include all the FP stuff in the accesory pack with fold booster and arm weapon. That would encourage people to get it more. -concentrate on tampo printing more on the 19. Leave it naked like the 1/48 vf1 This way people can choose FP and non-FP and they don't have to pay for something they may not want or need and giving everyone more options. Then if accessory pack becomes popular sell a FP yf19 in one box like the vf1 super stealth (came with strike cannon too ). Maybe include better robot hands (a special limited edition green pinpoint barrier fist? ) and some different pilots in the accessory pack. By the time they get to the vf11, they could repeat this formula: -put the fast packs in an accessory pack together with hands and maybe an atmospheric booster (used in the scene when dyson almost crashes into guld with it to keep up with his yf-21) And allow the choice for naked vf11 with no FP like the 1/72 line. (of course GBP would be a seperate pack for vf11 assuming one is made) heavy weapon pic for reference so people know what I am talking about: vf-11 atmospheric booster: ^ just add that into the accessory pack with the fold booster and space fast pack (with initial release being naked vf11)
  4. If anything I would rather that thing under the arm that appeared in macross plus: what was it that destroyed a fake monster? Yeah include one of them. Oh btw I was recently watching SDF macross again and the monster does get destroyed. (by a flying regult) episode 8: before: after: Just realised that the monster is actually a lot weaker than I expected. If the yf19 actually destroyed it in macross plus (not a fake one) I wouldn't be surprised now.. In the past people have said that the monster is the only destroid that hasn't been shown defeated like other cannon fodders or other destroids. This proves them wrong.
  5. I know I've said it about all of them but that looks great. Make sure to get them in the customs section of the site. I'm going to assume that is what roy's cockpit looked like and that the blood appeared on the seat regardless of if we never saw that in the tv series. Three holes in his back. He feels numb in the back assuming it was a scratch and doesn't notice the bleeding. Goes back to eat at claudia's and feints.
  6. Post some pics of the vf1a guts. I want to see it in all modes. Glad to hear there are no complaints about the toy falling apart so far. (aside from the stand cracking) Maybe you should complain and get replacement stands from where you bought them from? I still think it would have been better had they included FP though.
  7. Well it's no different from the animation mistakes in the original tv series or the "pointy elf ears" on mylene in some areas of macross 7 OVA. Maybe not enough time?
  8. The same thing happened when I revealed something in space cruiser yamato. I remember someone was really offended that I spoiled the story for him. It's not the poster's job to have to pander to the lurker who can't be bothered to even watch the show and contribute something to the discussion. I mean come on, if I said "darth vader is luke's dad" on a science fiction forum where an overwhelming majority has seen the movie, it wouldn't really be considered spoiler material due to how old it is, so the same logic would apply to older anime. There should be an expiry date on when people can complain to others about having a story spoiled for them imo. For animes of a certain age: it is up to the reader's to make certain they enter only threads marked "spoiler free" and assume that if that label isn't there, then it WILL contain spoilers so they enter at thier own risk. (and not the other way around: the poster's have to use hidden text to please the few) As for whether macross 7 is for kids: maybe it is because it is a lot more light hearted and hopeful than stuff like macross plus or SDF:Macross. In macross humans are grossly outnumbered and in danger of becoming extinct. People's dreams are crushed, misa's boyfriend is dead, hikaru has to write the letters to the parents informing them of the deaths of thier children, half the time the main characters have problems like turning up to a date late, the fear of dying in combat, the shouldering of more responsibility that it makes for good drama. In dyrl they play with the idea of men and women fighting with each other. In the original tv series there is conflict: kaifun vs the military, the military against aliens, defected aliens against their leaders, crazed lunatics against the alien sympathisers, humans and aliens vs the crazed lunatic's forces etc... lot of conflict between all the groups in the story so it is more complicated. But in macross 7, each episode had a "forumla" to it that it made it seem like a super robot show where the main character was pretty much invincible. I can't explain it. But you know when they fake deaths in marvel comics and it cheapens things because you no that know one ever dies in the marvel universe? Well they did it for the main characters like gamlin and basara. I think the episode is even titled "basara dies" just to trick you Now compare that to the death in macross plus (guld dying) or macross zero: victory is more bitter-sweet. There are huge losses, people suffer, and the world continues and they sort of bounce back. But the danger is there and it keeps me watching the show because I wonder: who is going to live through it? If you watch macross for the first time, you might wonder: Will hikaru live through it, right before he says to minmay that he loves her and he might not come back? (because it looks like there is a great chance that he won't) As a watcher you keep watching to see what is going to happen: will he live? So I didn't get that feeling in 7. The story took a much lighter tone, deaths were cheapened in a "marvel comics universe" way and they stretched the story out to too many episodes. Similar to how sometimes a movie compresses and simplifies a story too much and we miss out on stuff, but the opposite of that: taking too long to tell the story and making the series feel like there is too many filler eps. Sivil going into hibernation was one of the more boring parts for example. She just sits in a tree for aaaages and the whole story is just one guy singing to wake her up. Same thing for when she fell asleep in a mountain and the whole ep was about just them climbing the mountain. The pacing felt a bit slow, like they were stretching it out.
  9. I have just been watching megazone. When the bike transforms does anyone think the sound effect for the transformation is stupid? it goes "worrrrp, wop-wop-wop" (like it is laughing or something) That doesn't sound anything like what I would imagine a tough robot bike which can crush other cars with its body to sound like. that doesn't sound too good... Hope they send it soon. I still want to get it but the shoulders make it sound like transforming it for the first time is dangerous.
  10. See if you can figure out the mystery of how roy's love interest got injured.
  11. Comparisons of the size of the gunpod would be nice.
  12. Nice poses you got there. I read the review. With regards to the fighter mode: it is possible to squeeze the whole handle of the gunpod between the arms (not inside the little empty chamber) while the arms are locking together. Nothing will snap since it is flexible enough that you can squash something between them. (the legs will brace the arms together tight enough so it won't fall out) Doing this means the gunpod actually sits a bit further forward though. And the head lasers do move but they bend so you might want to grip them as close to the base as possible before trying to pose them if you don't want them to bend. I have similar problem with the gunpod for the bandai 1/65 vf-19. You actually have to shave some plastic off so it sits closer to the belly.
  13. If they do give us pics in a different mode, hopefully we get a few in various angles. Anyway, take your time yamato. Don't want a toy that is too brittle, or floppy now..(plus it takes time to save for these)
  14. I will end up watching it, but not get my hopes high. Will be interesting to hear what the robotech fan has to say after seeing it. "We will wiiin!" <--that was actually a pretty memorable song for me. And as for cat robots: I just got the idea. Why don't they clone that thing from gundam seed destiny (gaia gundam) and make a variable cat robot that doesn't shatter? The problem with the sentinels mecha is they didn't have enough armor around them. That is why they kept breaking. Sort of like the toynami valks.
  15. So the magazines can say: "Scupuda!" And be the exclusive source for new info? BTW if this thing is skinny, I won't mind that in battroid mode if it means a slim fighter. I just remember how chunky the 1/72 fast packs were on the VF11. urgh. But I will still buy it like I did with 1/72 as it looks like a big enough improvement in most everything from those. (assuming no loose joints misplaced magnets etc)
  16. What yamato should do: ask the floating head which is canon: droopy wings or straight wings? He might pull a macross zero on us and say they never were sloped or something. Maybe the yf19 was really grey instead and that the ova was just a movie documentary as Macross Plus the "movie edition" was the real version of events etc etc.. Oh and exedol never had hair or given hands.. since the movie version is the correct canon design... any toys made then of him from the tv are kinda sorta canon since SWI was real but the animators were full of crap and didn't draw them as originally intended ...
  17. some of the reader comments are pretty harsh too: ..meaning the robotech fans will buy multiple copies (like the original robotech dvds) to keep it alive to get the shadow alpha toys made. Just kidding robotech fans...
  18. Ah I see what you mean. Never noticed it before. I wonder if the next mag scans will show us a head on fighter mode pic? And the gunpod too. I want to see how large it is
  19. That is the closest for lineart I can find to head on. Don't know if they should be straight or drooping and which is canon and which isn't. (since the pic isn't perfectly straight and we are looking at an angle from below..) edit: ...but it does kinda show the beer gut that graham was mentioning..
  20. Here's an image of the vf1D in ep2 of the tv series: looks pretty similar to me
  21. That reminds: someone (I think it was kin?) was going to make a papercraft PT Legioss. I wonder if that ever got completed yet? Never built one. But you can find more pics here.
  22. Me too! But I want new stuff: Yamato you did the garland, now do Mospeada. Or is that now impossible because HG owns worldwide rights to Mospeada? (or was that only international except japan?) Aaaah imagine a proper tread? That would really piss off the robotech-only purists (waiting for thier nontransforming beta whose diecast content would make the connected alpha split into a million pieces like a cat robot as they try to hold it) It would be funny if there were like bootlegs made of the alpha which were much higher quality and much cheaper than MPC stuff.
  23. Cool. Toynami should have just made thier alphas plastic, (no diecast) which you build yourself (no fancy box) and which is cheap enough so that when it eventually falls apart you have some spare parts to replace the broken alpha if you accidently snap something. (no shipping cost to people who need repair) Forget calling the toys "masterpiece" already. Just make snap fit versions of model kits (ie like gundam)
  24. But just buying one says to them you will pay a huge price. (because they are pretty expensive co,pared to other toys as it is) No different from those who bought toynami MP at thier "normal" price when they first got released. That's what the fan and collector market is about really. Make a small number of the item. Hope someone (diehard fan or collector) will pay that amount for the item. Wait until enough have sold. Then reissue the ones that are most in demand. (thus all the roy reissues) Even if the toy isn't all that great, so long as it is the only thing out there, people will pay what something is worth to them personally. Take the macross plus toys that were going for 1/48 prices for an example. Imagine if that was say, the vf-4 or a vf-2ss and there was no indication for a long time there would ever be a release of it: I think fans would be prepared to eat whatever price the seller set under the right conditions. So if vf-4 was really hard to get, and the fan community knew they can't all have it due to limited number: that's when money ceases to become as important than the hobby and the prices for it start to become less an issue for them. This is just an example. Something genuinely a pain in the ass to find, will understandably be worth it personally more to the fan who searched far and wide for it. So I used the "water in a desert analogy". Not because we eat it or drink it. (yes these are luxury items that humans do not need for survival) But to say: "this is hard to find" (like water in a desert) It's all easy for you to say "I will not pay a high price for something" now, because for sure we are living in a golden age of macross toys, but I bet that attitude would change if it were a different time. (say when it was really hard to get anything) As an example when I bought the Qrau I knew I was going to eat the cost and felt it was kind of overpriced on first release, but because it was my fave enemy mecha I had hoped to support it so I still ended up getting it out of fan "duty" for other types of unpopular mecha. This is the mentality behind fans and collector. You sometimes will buy stuff more than what it is worth to others, to have something that is personally valueable to you. Money isn't the issue in those extreme instances when you have limited choice or are impatient or eager to have something now. I know people who can't stand selling old items because to them it is like "work", so what they do is trade in all thier old games or pawn thier items for very little value. These people are wasting so much money just for a little convenience instead of getting the right value for things they no longer want. To them, it might seem like "junk", so they can say to themself: "this is worthless to me personally so I don't mind selling it cheap". Now I reason: The same logic can also apply in the other direction: a fan might really really value an item much more than it is really worth for varying reasons. Some of the reasons might be: -It takes a lot of work to find the item so they eat the cost to buy it at a higher than normal price -the item is the only thing they need to complete the collection -valuable to them personally -maybe they are scared if they don't buy it now, it will just keep rising and rising when interest in the line wanes over time and goes out of print, never reissued, or is too unpopular that it would be risk to make such a thing again Just the opposite to the guy selling the "junk" at the garage sale who has no more love for the old things he has bought and cluttered up his house with. (but which might be ultra hard to find to the diehard scavenger who has looked all over for it and desperate to get, due to all the "work" in finding it)
