  1. its cool man. i wasn't calling you out on it specifically(even though i quoted you) sorry about that. its just the same old tired excuse why its alright for XYZ company to charge so much, therefore we should just suck it up and deal with it. honestly, its not like a 20 year old cartoon license is all that expensive to obtain in the first place but people like to throw that in there as a reason why its an acceptable to get ripped off, same with the BS cost of R&D. bottom line, small company, small production run, whatever, even at wholesales price these mofo's will be making money hand over fist.
  2. totally see your POV. i just think at this point, macross fandom has grow considerably from what it was in just the past 5 years and a lot of it has to do with toynami releasing their MPC's(shadow what?) and companies like yamato that took the VF-1 design to another level. i can understand companies wanting to take the safe route and go with things that have done well in the past but i think yamato has been in the game long enough to take some chances and start releasing more obscure things for the diehard fans/entire customer base. i started out as a everyday casual fan but coming here and finding out all the info, seeing all the mecha and everything macross related, made me a diehard fan. i had no idea what the VE or VT was before coming here, while it seems like they're not in demand, every single time a company annouces they're taking on the macross license, the first thing everyone says, "are they going to make 2 seaters?, enemy mecha? destroids?". sure the VF-1 is timeless, but the diehards what something other than more VF-1's and yamato's whole(well majority)customer base are diehard fans, not casual fans. i mean no one is shelling out $200+ because they think its "okay".
  3. i don't see the average anime fan buying anything macross but you see them buying yet another version of a super poseable VF-1? i think this entire line is for macross fans not your average anime fan. anyway, the point i was trying ot make was, if they released more obscure stuff, lets say a VE or VT in battroid mode, would you as a macross fan buy it, seeing as they would be unique and never been made before? as overweight as these guys are, i think the majority of people here would pick them up with no questions asked and i think the same could be said for enemy mecha and destroids. please note: i'm all VF-1'ed out so you'll have to excuse my however flawed reasoning.
  4. and that right there is going to be how most people feel about the line. if had they released the more obscure stuff first, there would definitely be a buzz instead of a *makes fart*.
  5. as funny as it is(his laughter was killing me!), jerry f-ed up. cruise is way more connected than he'll ever be in both TV and in hollywood. i'm willing to bet that we don't see jerry getting into any movies in the near future and his TV career will be at an end after crossing jordan. in any case, too much funny!
  6. i'm so sold on the MH ones, someone sign me up already. i don't care if its PT or not, the toy itself look very well made and comes with tons of coll little accessories. also, i'm sort of reconsidering the CMS ones. when you think about the old gakken ones that are around the same size and sell for around $50 with none of the features, it doesn't seem like such a bad deal for $60. i'm still kind of on the fence with CMS but i'm definitely in on the MH ones as long as it doesn't have a legioss/tread price tag.
  7. in graham first post.... they're definitely cheap at 1,500 JPY which equals 14.0548 USD but who know how big the boxes are and what the shipping will be? IMO, yamato kind of f-ed up on how they're releasing these. if they were smart, they would've released enemy mecha and/or destroids first since macross fans haven't really seen those made. i think the majority of their customer base would've bought them in a heart beat and inturn creating a stir for the new line. the people who picked up the enemy mecha/detroid would then be more inclined to pick up the VF-1's as well as the other valks. the way they're doing it now, its bound of fail(just like toynamis super poseables) even with the $15 price point(just like toynamis super poseables).
  8. this reasoning has been used for every "small" company out there and each and every time people bring bandai/takara into it to back it up. its nothing against you, but its just annoying how people keep comparing every toy company out there to those 2 and only those 2. yamato was a "small" company and because of macross, now they're a big company and still sell the same damn toy for the same damn price and each of their releases is only getting more expensive, not cheaper. if its small, that means they have less operating costs, less expense, less employees to pay out, less everything. also, making 1000 pcs costs them the same as making 5000 pcs. taking it to production is a flat rate, they just have to cover the cost of materials. so no, that small company excuse doesn't fly with me anymore and the bandai/takara comparison is getting mighty old on these forums...actually every toy forum.
  9. it can be mean 2 things... quoted for truth or quite fukkin true. it depends on what the comment is but works either way.
  10. i had one of these a couple of years ago. a member here gave it to me just to be a nice guy, then after i enjoyed it, i passed it down to another MW'er. they're not great by any means but nothing beats free.
  11. well you're not welcome in my city any longer buddy! if i see you coming this way, i will unleash the wrath of the aliens, robots, giant monsters, earthquakes, and zombie vampire virus's on you!
  12. they already spent time and money getting it to the point where its at now, so theres no way they'll take a total loss and can the project. besides, they gotta know by now that the pricing is what turning people off more than anything else. thats the main reason here and i'm sure thats the main reason on all the other messageboards where this toy is being discussed. i'm sure they're looking, i'm sure they're reading, now the just need to crunch the numbers again and adjust the asking price to something more reasonable/affordable. i'm sure positive reviews will help push sales but not for their asking price $300+ shipped.
  13. if you don't like what you read here, just stop reading, start lurking, or find another macross site. if you didn't notice by now everyone complains about stupid sh!t. the whole internet is about bitchin and moanin about every little thing that bothers them. i have yet to visit one messageboard in my life where people aren't complaining about something. its a fact of life my friend, either get used it or stop visiting messageboards. this is macrossworld! bitchin and moanin is part of our hertitage.
  14. last i checked it was $87-ish without the shipping but the way the dollar is tumbling, it could end up being even more expensive than anyone could've expected. misterryno, you posted that like its your first time here, welcome to macrossworld.
  15. you pretty much said everything M. Night Shyamalan said when he was hosting an airing of Signs on cable a few years ago....which was a terrible movie BTW. if its that obvious that thats what makes a good monster movie, then everybody would be doing it. it worked the one time but hes been doing the same schtick in all his movies and the majority of them have failed to deliver IMO.
  16. not that i'm panning ot buy this but you know... when someone places a preorder at some ridiculous price, the price will remain ridiculous. when no one places a preorder at some ridiculous price, the manufacturer will lower their asking price and in turn the vendor will as well.
  17. ha! only saw this post today. its not that i'm cheap, i'm just not going to pay $10 to see it when i can watch for less(sometimes for free) and in the comfort of my own home. i like kicking back and drinking a couple of brewskis as opposed to trying to get there early just to get a good seat, only to end up sitting in an uncomfortable chair in the second row, 2 feet from the screen, sharing an arm rest with some fool i don't know, all the while not drinking a brewski. somehow that doesn't seem like the movie going experience i'm looking for. anyway to keep things on topic, i hope theres an alternate extended ending on the DVD that i won't be buying.
  18. theres so many reports coming in, whos to tell what the truth is? as with most drug related deaths of famous people, we'll probably never know the whole truth. the sad thing is, i'm sure the media is having a good news day over his death. people say RIP, but there will be no peace til the media is done tearing his life, his wife, and his daughters lives apart.
  19. ha! i don't have to clean them, i got an air purifier and an ionic breeze in the same room as my macross stuff. i was thinking about moving them(AP and IB) to the living room and getting one of those Oreck purifiers instead. i hear good things about them, more so than the ionic breeze.
  20. i just posted this on AP. i guess he isn't playing the joker for the next batman film(not the upcoming one). its really too bad, i thought the guy was a great actor.
  21. like a typical M. Night Shyamalan film. its like going to a massage parlor to get a happy ending but not getting the ending.
  22. i can't really disagree with that. i just think a lot of movies are using/abusing the shakey cam thing as of late and in all the wrong ways. the reason for my disliking it is because i can never tell whats really happening? a lot of the time it leaves me sitting there like WTF just happened?, did anyone catch any of that?, what did i miss? i mean, its one thing when someone says that during a horror flick, it almost a given that people would ask those kind of questions; but its whole another thing when someone says it during an eye candy based action flick like the borne films.
  23. think of it as the blair witch project, only this time its a monster in 2008. BTW, the hand held camera filming has been played out already.
  24. while some of the improvements are good, why the heck would they make the lower fin on the legs hinge? i'm sure it for the GBP but won't that hinged fin eventually get loose over time? and whats up with the ridiculously oversized red dot on the S head? hope they make it smaller as it draws attention way from the head itself.
  25. just a copy and paste from a previous thread... i started with a 1/60 because i didn't want to shell out for a 1/48. the main reason i picked up the 1/60's is because of its diecast content giving it the feel/weight of a real toy. its pretty much why i haven't sold any of them even after hearing the news of the newer 1/60's. i prefer diecast toys in general and i already own several versions/scales of the VF-1 in plastic. i'd also like to add that the original 1/60's are the first transformable VF-1 toys made since the 1/55's. its like owning a piece of toy history in my eyes. while the price may drop after the PT 1/60's, these will still be valued by fans for years to come. and just because something is newer doesn't make it better as far as a from collector POV. its same reason why people pickup the bootlegs(galaxy defender anyone?) and other weird varients(joons, TRU CF, etc).
