dude... that is a sweet collection you have there... I have to say, those bandai's do look pretty nice. The 1/60 set looks better though, the smaller head works better to sell the massiveness of the armour, IMO.

hmmmm, that does not sound good... I was hoping they would keep it under Macross and not edit it. But if they are going to release it under Robotech then I'm guessing it will be edited pretty heavily, footage and story. oh well, pretty much what I was expecting. Guess I'll be hanging onto my bootleg DYRL DVD a while longer.

Electra has been pretty central to DD since the beginning and continues to play a big role, even if not directly. Frank Millar's run on DD sets it up nicely if I remember correctly. Electra DOES get killed but a magical ninja secret society called the Hand bring her back to life. Electra has her own comic series but she's had one shots with wolverine and of course many run ins with DD since her return.

Well, I'm not roy, but just my two cents... this isn't a robotech forum... so really, wrong place to expect a lot of concession to MPC talk... and since the pinned MPC thread says to post ALL MPC related discussion there.... Also, since the toy section is under the Macross Discussion section... as JBO says, it is an implied thing. 'Sides, don't knock on Roy, he's been more than fair and patient with us unruly types.

some more caution on the use of sharpies... even just applied sharpie black isn't a mat black, it's more of a deep dark purple and it is shiny. it looks very much like ink. I wouldn't recommend using sharpies to do any detail work on models and certainly not for panel lining.... and especially for larger areas like on 1/48s...

well, I wouldn't go so far as to say I won't buy *anything* with HG or robotech on it.. just nothing that was macross related... I think I might spring for an alpha...

New X-men under morrison was a great ride... though the last arc, to me, was kinda flat and silvestri has lost his chops, some of that was pretty incoherrent. But spidey under the B5 guy (sorry name escapes me and I'm too lazy to look it up) has been pretty good. I wouldn't mind seeing some of those arcs used for the last few spidey movies. maximum clonage was a mess though... but some of spidey's web usage was a bit reminicent of ben riley though... hah.

I don't think it's big west that would be the deciding factor... more likely the fact that HG with toynami already has their own toy line up and having yamatos come in would lessen demand for their product and lower the value for their wares as well. plus, HG would probably want license fees from yamato driving prices up... oh... and... no way am I buying a macross product with "robotech" slapped on the packaging.

saw it last night, thought it was much better than the first. as for the doc oc battles... it's a comic book movie. seriously, just enjoy it for what it is... cause you know, brain powered mechanical limbs alone would have won him a nobel prize...

there's always the Zeta gundam, which transforms into a spaceship form... and my favorite, the RX-178 mk 2, titans version. The mk 2 is nice as it has some more posability around the waist, and the titans colour just makes it look fierce.

Where exactly did I state for a fact that the Japanese hate themselves? Like I've said before, and reiterated again, "I get a feeling." It doesn't mean it's right. Feel free to do so when I run around spouting racial slurs. Until that point, though, read my posts carefully to realize that I give an uneducated observation, not an opinion. Sorry, I didn't realize for you there was such a distinction between feeling and thought. I feel that japanese hate the way they look. It has better not be, because I'm just pointing out something I observe, it has nothing to do with race or how the Japanese may feel about themselves. As far as I know, most, if not all, Japanese are very proud of themselves, their heritage, their genetics, et cetera. I did not say for a fact that they hate themselves. I just said that it's a feeling I get from anime. Take it or leave it. FYI, I'm Asian. Please, yeah I'm talking to you. You start off with: I get this distinct feeling that the Japanese, while proud of who they are, hate themselves for the way they look and thus want to manifest their ideal looks through their character designs. And then you say that you're not saying they hate themselves... please, if you hate the way you look, you hate yourself. And frankly, I don't care if you're asian or not. As long as you run around spouting the same racist, stereotypical nonesense, I'll lump you in just the same, based on you attitude and beliefs. You're still expecting asians to be lumped in under a specific look and when they don't fit that look or attitude you say they must hate themselves.... how is that any different than saying japanese people must want to be white? Really, this reminds me of mallrats: "They're saying deep inside, we all want to be white!" "Well isn't that true?" difference is, mallrats is a comedy.

you need to also keep in mind the asian stigma against manual labor... dark skin is indicitive of day laborers... something that chinese/koreans/japanese both look down on... it's no more saying they want to be white than saying that caucasian facination with tanning means that they want to be black. And why would people of african decent show up in anime? It's not like they show up in western shows... how much ethnic variety was on Friends? Frasier? Seinfeld? You can pretty much list the asians shown on western tv on one hand. And it's not like westerners portray asians in some sort of enlightened way either... and we're talking about a racial diverse culture/society that has been dealing with race issues for 300 years. Why then, why are you looking for racial diversity from a mostly homogeneous society in a product that was intended the same society? If anything, why aren't you asking why american shows, which are heavily syndicated and sold to other other countries, don't have more racial and cultural diversity? Honestly, these same arguments are NEVER brought against western productions.

please, this topic always comes up every so often, and it always seems like it's non-asians that bring it up. Frankly, this just smacks of stereotypes... there are many different asian phenotypes... even among the japanese ethnic groups, there are people with varied ancestry there are japanese with large eyes with smaller eyes, short asians, tall asians etc. Why should animators be forced to draw asians the way YOU prefer, short with slanty eyes? Maybe with opium pipes? doing laundry? Perhaps there weren't enough bonsai trees for you? Maybe we should rename all characters Chan as well and put them in chinese outfits with top knots so that you'll feel better about it? You never hear these sort of things levied against white people why do white people keep animating their women as small and waifish when the average white woman is large and overweight? it's like they want to be asian or something... why do blondes dye their hair brunnette from time to time, aren't they proud of their nordic ancestry? why are they trying to be asian? Why is a half asian playing lana lang on smallville? Perhaps white people don't think they're attractive enough and need to cast an attractive asian in that role? And yes, "attractive japanese" don't show up to promote things. They're far more likely to be off in a library studying or trying to find a nice white man who will treat them right.

yeah, the size does bother me... which is why I refuse to pay retail for it... and i'm hoping that toynami will get around to releasing a linkable beta for it... which will go a way to justifying the itty bitty hyper small size of this thing... really, it is in the 12 dollar trannie toy size range right now. the size is really just one of many complaints I have with the toy... those large clown feet, that awful sculpt on the sensor pod... the monstrously ridiculous retail price.... hmmm... why did I want this thing again? nostalgia...
