  1. My box is mint. I saw some horror stories over on the TF forum. Smashed boxes. I guess mine was on top of the pallet or something.
  2. Soundwave Superior... Packaging Inferior.
  3. Whens this go up for preorder, and where?
  4. Yeah I check with my landlord with anybody who might have access to my place. And I always try to be there if anybody is home.
  5. I think just raising the price is enough... I see no reason why they would deny Hasbro distribution. They already sell so much of their stuff. They aren't going to turn away a few extra boxes. The stores stock price wouldn't change, they could just charge more and make more. If it's $200 a pop scalpers wouldn't be able to make any money. I doubt anybody would pay over $300 bucks. You factor in $30 bucks for fees and $15-20 for shipping there isn't enough meat on the bone. Less would be scalped, more would be in stores, and more people who want them would get them. Hasbro and TRU need to wake up and realize that the Adult toy collecting market is a thing, and if they don't cater to it they're going to just be moving money into smarter peoples hands. $120-140 bucks is not the market value for these toys! It's nice to get it but it's not what the market is demanding.
  6. I live alone in an apartment in a pretty nice neighborhood. Usually the only people who come inside are girlfriends. The girl I've been dating lately likes them and she doesn't mind my endless talk about finding a good deal or the new toy I got. She also got some flight pose stands for me, which was nice. I go out of my way to present things with some class and not have a lot of clutter and dust. (I'm picking up a new detolf today off craigslist as I need to expand! haha) Anyway, I don't hide it. I enjoy telling people about what I'm into and letting them why I like the hobby. I think I've used this line on the forums before, but I sell it as "Art you can interact with." I have friends who buy crappy local paintings for hundreds of bucks and just hang them on their wall. You can look at it, but that's about it. At least with high-end toys you can pick it up, transform it, pose it, and really live with it. I also got my love of collecting and hunting for deals from my father. He always used to call it "the hunt" kind of like things I've read about Japanese collectors. It's also motivated me to help clean out my parents basement. I'm about to start digging into our comic collection and re-invest that money back into my toy collection. Also, If I ever met somebody, or a girl, who put me down or was negative about my hobby, it's like having a heads-up that they are a shallow and closed minded person. If they don't like who you are, they'll try to change something else. Thanks for the red flag a-hole! haha
  7. I'm stoked because I never bought a Roy, other than a VF-0.
  8. Looks like some have shown up in Cali. I bet they got into the trucks early and just started selling them. My local store said they wouldn't have any until the 2nd. So ebay will be flooded with soundwave listings from california! haha
  9. None have been shipped to stores. The 1000 or so that were up last week were kind of a special promotion to coincide with SDCC. The "real" release won't be until August. I'm thinking mid to the end of next week you might see some in stores or online. Who knows if their will be a price increase or the quantity.
  10. Who actually used the chair lift? for anything? haha Show of hands?
  11. That's the best looking 19 I've ever seen... never much cared for the robot mode, but that's a design problem
  12. I'd like the Bandai stands just fine if they weren't black. Clear plastic would be nice.
  13. Acid storm should be in stock next week. Skull - I hear what you're saying, but I think you underestimate the power of Transformers popularity, especially fan favorites like Soundwave. Every kid in the 80's either had or wanted this guy, so it's a big deal. It far eclipses any sales of Macross items, that's for sure. Hasbro releases generally are cheaper than Takara releases, I will agree with that. I know my MP-10 from Hasbro had much looser feet and arms than the Takara I picked up. The only one that I would prefer over Takara, paint wise, is MP-08 Grimlock. The Hasbro version actually looks better in my mind. Anyway, the cycle of these things is pretty crazy. It's pretty hard to get one at retail unless you're johnny on the spot. Compared to the number of people who really want one, the amount of savvy people who can get them at MSRP is in the minority. It's a lot to pay for a figure that is just out at retail, but some people don't have the time to check Toys R Us every day or stay up late waiting for an online order to pop-up for 20 min. It's not really for kids. Kids buy the cheap transformers that they have in Target every day. These are for older collectors generally. I think a lot of the problem is that Hasbro doesn't even understand their own market. They price these things too low and it creates too much of an opportunity to flip them. They want to price it so that Dad might buy little Johnny the expensive soundwave, but that's not really the case. They need to realize it's for an adult market and up the quality control and detailing and charge more. If they charge more it's not as easy for scalpers to buy up all the stock, and the flip value is compromised. I think this release should be at least $175 out of the box.
  14. That looks like crap. I don't think that's G1 accurate! haha. I was looking at my Takara, the back of his feet aren't painted and part of his upper thigh. Maybe I'll keep my Takara! Can't decide haha
  15. The yellow is brighter on the Hasbro around the tape ejector. I THINK the hasbro is a brighter blue. I'll let you know tomorrow hopefully.
  16. You have to email them and ask to cancel the order number.
  17. Keep in mind too, the VF-11's were right at $180 bucks and they just had tiny fast packs, a gun, and a pilot. It's just the way collecting is going. Materials cost more ... and it's a luxury item. Plus the economy is a lot different than it was back in 08.
  18. Yeah I called toyfreakz directly to made sure they got off their ass and got my refund going. I'll never order from toyfreakz or buy anything with MP's name on it. Because they design SOC's? Every SOC I've had was fantastic. They don't transform though, so they are pretty hard to screw up. As long as the joints are there.
  19. They are trying to get casuals to get a lot of money. Rare and obscure valks aren't going to get produced unless the casual valks sell through the roof.
  20. Apparently Bandai almost got the rights and were going to make an SOC... which would have been the best thing ever... But Toynami got the rights at the zero hour. Tough time to be a Voltron fan. Vehicle voltron is a shady sh1t show, and Toynami threw some lights in an old mold and called it good.
  21. I'd be happy with Line art and a decent design package.
  22. I'm done with NY. the dumb bastards won't even combine shipping for me. Once I fulfill the PO's I have.. if I don't say screw it and cancel them, I'm going to avoid them at all cost.
  23. Mine was in NYC customs for 3 weeks. I saw some miss-scan where it went back to japan the next day? but I don't think that happened. I want to know why 10 bucks more means you can bypass customs? and if so whats the point of customs?
  24. OzmaLee74 - sal?I had a valk lost for 3 weeks because of sal. Don't think I'll use it again.
