  1. I need help too. Someone tell me what all those shows were. Some of them look bad-ass yet totally unfamiliar.
  2. I've always preferred a small scale, so 1/60 is better for me.
  3. Wow, that butt shot is driving me wild. I think I'm in love.
  4. Awesome! Thanks Area88. I can't wait to see Fandora subbed, though I think I've seen it raw. Anyway, are the other 2 parts of Violence Jack not as good?
  5. Ahh dammit, the numbers are different. I forgot. Reality continues to screw me over. Oh well. You know, those 1A heads are cool anyway.
  6. Right. I really think adding 1S heads to the DYRL Hikky & Max 1A's would change the general fan reception from "Meh, this again" to "Sweet holy Jebus!" And judging from the forearm-mounted fuselage gimmick, the heads are detachable anyway.
  7. Yamato, Include an interchangeable 1S head with the Hikky 1A and nobody gets hurt. Love, The cash-strapped members of MacrossWorld
  8. A-freaking-men. Although the Hikky 1A looks great, it's the last valk I wanted to see. Anything but another DYRL valk, unless it's a two-seater.
  9. Man, do you pick fights at funerals too? What I feel about this event is what most regular folks would feel about a mass killing in Disneyland. Akihabara should be the happiest place on earth, not the scene of a massacre. Very disturbing.
  10. Not that anyone else really doubted it, but Graham has confirmed to me through PM that the new VF-1 indeed has an integral heat shield.
  11. Hey, here's something nobody ever talks about any more. You know how the backpack is way too far back in gerwalk mode on the 1/48 (and also the 1/60)? Well, the Toynami 1/100 had a simple solution to this. It had a sort of double hinge, so the piece connecting the backpack to the rest of the valk could be in two positions. In one position, the backpack looked good in gerwalk because it was pushed forward, and in the other position it looked good in battroid because it was pushed down. I think it only locked in the high position in battroid mode, which was backwards. But it was so simple. I wish the new 1/60 used that idea.
  12. It's just me, don't worry. But yeah, still no post from Graham on the subject. And damn, VF5SS, that model is fugly.
  13. Wouldn't it be? Seriously, I agree with you. In the strictest sense, PT requires an integral heat shield. But PT is really a marketing phrase, and it's been used plenty of times before when small attachments were still needed to complete transformation. Like, weren't the 1/55's always considered PT? That's actually pretty comforting. I never knew it was just sliding in grooves, and now that I know, it does seem too simple to leave out. (I saw a more complex integral heat shield design in some hobby mag once, so I always thought it was complicated. ) I wonder what's so different about the new 1/60 that will make two-seaters possible.
  14. And boy would I like to see some prototypes for that line. Hopefully, if it sells well, they can also include valks from older Macross shows -- or even experimental valks!
  15. Cool, so there's really no visible mechanism. I still think the commercial is inconclusive. It does make it look like the heat shield is integral, but commercials are supposed to deceive us into thinking stuff we want to believe. You know, a post from Graham would clear this up right quick.
  16. I saw that, but it means nothing. I mean, it shows lasers coming out of the strike cannon, but that doesn't mean it really shoots. The heat shield mechanism itself isn't shown, so it could just be "special effects". I've never messed with a 1/48. Is there any mechanism for the heat shield like a hinge or swing arm, or does the heat shield just slide through some grooves?
  17. Don't worry guys, my question was semi-facetious, and I would be shocked if the thing came out on time. Or ever.
  18. So I searched the thread last night and couldn't find any confirmation from Graham that this new 1/60 has an integral heat shield. The question was asked multiple times, but he made no mention of the heat shield whatsoever. That's somewhat suspicious, and combined with the statement about the new 1/60 being designed from the start with two-seaters in mind, I wonder if an integral heat shield is simply not part of the design. Would make two-seaters easier.
  19. So guys, is there any news about the Toynami Beta? It's slated for 3rd quarter '08, which is coming up soon (July-Sept, though I'm sure it'll be September or later).
  20. This commercial? I don't see any integral heat shield demonstrated.
  21. It's the thingy that covers the canopy in battroid mode.
  22. Hey Graham, does this new 1/60 retain the integral heat shield from the 1/48 design? I don't think that question has ever been officially answered.
  23. Yep! 'Sup guys! I rarely post in the models forum, but I was looking at the color art posted for comparison above, and I think the nose of the fighter in the biggest shot is very stretched out, appearing very long because it's closer to the "camera". If you look at other shots of the fighter (or the guardian mode shot), the nose is not nearly as long. So, basically, what Chas said.
  24. So am I the only one not particularly impressed by these two gimmicks? I really don't care one way or the other about the rainbow coating on the canopy. It doesn't bug me, but it doesn't get me excited at all. Same with the arm-mounting of the whole nose section. It's definitely not a feature I see myself using, and I actually worry if the integrity of the whole valk will be compromised (though I doubt it). But most importantly the black mounting clip is big and ugly. Maybe it would be cooler if it was transparent. Actually, there is one reason I'm excited about the arm/nosecone attachment: it hints at the release of the 1D. Of course the new 1/60 doesn't need gimmicks for me to buy it. It's totally sweet anyway. So now comes the weeks of waiting...damn, I can't wait to get this thing.
