Yep! The sad part is, they already figured this out on the 1/48. It would be great if they locked, and people who wanted to do extreme poses could just not lock them. I wonder if it would be too hard for Yamato to add a lock to the design. Yamato and their stupid shoulders.

Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!
danth replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
No it's not. I'm telling you the universe will come through for us if you just believe, damn it! I was just talking about the tail fin hinges, so there. Specifically, tell me why those won't work. -
FOR REAL. That was one of my favorites ever. Nothing beats playing with your friends. And the real time combat beats selecting "fight" from a menu any day.

I wonder why. Why are those hinges so fragile when the tail fins hinge on the Toynami 1/100 aren't. I mean, there's a pretty big bulge on the bottom of those VF-25 tail fins -- perfect place for a hinge. -

I'd rather have a slightly incorrect valk with perfect transformation. I'm looking at the SHE kit trying to figure out the transformation...I wonder if it's even possible to push that canopy down without hitting some other mechanism required for transformation. -

I don't know why people are so willing to accept parts-formers. If some fan scratch built a PT VF-4 kit years ago, without a big budget or CAD, than Bandai damn well better be able to make a PT VF-4 toy. -
You'll probably see what's wrong with the shoulder hinge if you...LOOK AT IT. It's a super thin piece of plastic around a metal bar. Of course it's weak.
-
My thoughts exactly. The one thing most Legioss toys and models really need, this kit included, is a way to retract the legs further so they don't stick out so far back in fighter mode.

Universe, are you listening? This is a great idea! (I thought the SOC Gunbuster was done like this) -
Well, nothing you say is wrong. The only real options are to shave some thickness off the arms or backpack, or let the backpack sit higher. If you did all three by a millimeter and a half, you could get the arms almost half a centimeter higher. I've seen people make transforming VF-1's out of the Hasegawa fighters, and they have pretty thin arms. I think they look fine, but they definitely don't look like the chunky arms in the line art. I'm okay with making the sacrifice for the fighter mode, but others won't be, I'm sure.

Seriously! I don't get why so many Macross fans don't love the MAXL. Have you ever heard someone say "This thing is so cool...the only way it could be cooler is if it had tits"? Well HELLO!
-
Do you remember George Costanza? Sometimes it means "I don't accept your apologies," and sometimes it means "No need to apologize." I was using the latter meaning. Yes to all! But a MAXL would be especially boobalicious.

What I want to see is a backpack that can sit further forward in gerwalk mode. The Toynami 1/100's backpack hinge is long enough that you can push the backpack forward or rearwards, although it only locked in the forward position, making it too high in battroid mode. But they essentially solved the problem, they just needed to add a lock to the low position (or rearward position in gerwalk). I also wish the arms in the VF-1 toys would sit higher in fighter mode. They are supposed to be recessed quite a bit in the line art. I think the toys can't achieve this because they always make the arms too fat. Also, it seems the VF-1S head should be hidden more on the Yamato valks. I guess the hip bar gets in the way.

Universe, do NOT listen to this guy. Vifam7, geez man, do you understand the point of a transforming toy? You were complaining about the Toynami 1/100, and now you want the Bandai version to use different nosecones for different modes? Oh wait, here's an idea. They could just swap the WHOLE TOY for fighter and battroid modes. That solves ALL the anime magic problems. F*ck this transformation thing. -
Stuff your sorries in a sack, mister! I too demand a VF-4. And it better be PT!

Thanks. I was going to have my list be "EVERY F*CKING VALK -- DON'T FORGET THE MAXL" but I didn't want to push my luck with the universe. So I have no objections to getting a VF-17. Quoted for absolute truth. I wouldn't go that far. I liked the sculpt besides the big shoulders and the big chin on the 1S. The intake area in fighter mode was off a bit, too, but I still liked 'em. And I had no quality issues with mine. -
Amazing that the VF-1 is in second place. I chose the VF-4, though the VF-1 is my second pick.
-
Revoldouche is cool, but I really like that white VF-19 custom! Can we get some pics of that thing?

That's what it says on the sign. But let's not confuse the universe. Let's all focus on my list...and chant. -

You know...I have to think that the universe is trying to give me exactly what I want, but it has some trouble getting the specifications right. So, let me make it clear. PERFECT TRANSFORMATION. NO PARTS SWAPPING FOR TRANSFORMATION! PERFECT TRANSFORMATION. NO PARTS SWAPPING FOR TRANSFORMATION! PERFECT TRANSFORMATION. NO PARTS SWAPPING FOR TRANSFORMATION! Chant it with me! And here is a partial list of which toys I want. I'll want more later, but do these first: VF-1J Hikaru with GBP armor VF-1D with elongated canopy VF-1A Cannon Fodder with fast packs Elint Seeker & Super Ostrich with correct canopies VF-4 VF-11 with fast packs VF-2SS with SAP VF-2J Icarus Regult (with swappable weapons) Recon Regult Glaug Q Rau N Ger Destroids Thanks, universe! -
I got a scratch there too. Right in the middle of the tail fin. The toy is so damn tight, that you end up squeezing it very hard when transforming, and the tail gets forcefully pressed against the back. I'd suggest to everyone to unfold the backpack before transforming anything else or even tring to put on or take off the leg fast packs. I used a Gundam marker to fill in the scratch, though I don't know how well it will last.
-
Damn dude, that looks really good. Not sure why Yamato couldn't do that in the first place.
-
Yeah, I believe Shinji Aramaki did the Ride Armor, the Motoslave, and the Garland...dunno about the Tri-charger though... Edit: according to wikipedia and ANN, Ammonite (Hiroshi Ogawa, Hirotoshi Okura & Takashi Ono) did the designs for Zillion and Southern Cross.
-
It's funny how we all thought a CAD-designed valk would mean a PT toy. Instead it means a valk with a transformation way too complex for a PT toy!
