1. Hey, Doctor Paragon- Do us a favor and don't bump a thread unless you actually have something to say.
2. I think that even if Kojima let's someone else direct, it'll still be the same situation as Lucas with Star Wars V, and VI- where he's constantly around giving "input" to the new "director."
3. If Kojima were a smart man, he'd threaten to never make another MGS game for Konami if they follow through with this idea. Small return from 99.999% Chance of Suck film by crappy director vs. Continued Revenue from Lucrative Game Franchise produced by revered legend. Make your choice, Konami.
4. I think I'll skip this new MGS movie and stick with the original: Escape from New York.
5. Dude, you collect dolls. Ha!!! I knew a guy who collected these things up the wazoo. He had soo many, it was insane. Of course, for his birthday he 'd always ask for one, yet it was quite hard to find one he didin't already own. Good luck on yer. Not my cup of tea, since they can end up looking bad, like the Kusanagi doll (ugh).
6. BLASPHEMY!!! 357148 I'm actually terribly suprised there were two posts before someone responded to my quip.
7. I heard that "Macross" movie doesn't really live up to the hype either.
8. Agreed, with the possible exception of What's Up, Tiger Lily?, I get a chuckle out of that. But then again, it's not really a "Woody Allen" movie.
9. Although I didn't have to wait years to see this "great" movie as, nowadays, it is shoved down your throat at birth- I cannot stand It's A Wonderful Life. "Look, George Bailey, the whole world would be utter hell if you weren't around!" (In your best Jimmy Stewart voice) "Gee, comic sidekick/angel who sounds like a drunken, idiotic five-year-old, I never thought about it that way." The only moral I ever took from that movie is to never work with your family if they are incompetent idiots. Honorable mentions: Unforgiven- I wanted to like this movie, but it was just sooo boring and lame. I had no sympathy for any of the characters. Mystic River- It may seem like I'm bashing on Eastwood as a director, and maybe I am, but a LOT of things made this movie suck. Sean Penn's anguished wails of a emotionally stricken father equal, if not surpass, Brad Pitt's hilarious distraught/angry moaning at the end of Se7en.
10. C'mon! Don't lie to the lad. He actually has four kits to get- The two you've posted, as well as: http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN906043 and http://www.gundamstoreandmore.com/ban76373.html Since the first MG kit I've ever done (Zeta-Plus A-1 Test Type), I've always purchased and made the corresponding SD kit. It's fun!!!* *and it works on your wife, because she cannot deny you the cool mecha action if you also supply the cute mecha action. Trust me.
11. OK, I just finished Feast, my thoughts are below. To avoid spoilers, highlight to read: For the first time in the series, I found each and every POV interesting, and didn't dread even when Sansa's parts came up. The problem I have is that the book's overall narrative flow seemed to be lacking. Stuff happened, but it still feels like nothing big happened (even though big things DID happen). Now, the others have been hinted at as the true major threat of the series. The very last line in the book, "I'm Pate," the other said, "like the pig boy.", is interesting in the fact that one was led to assume this particular character was killed at the end of the prologue. I'm particularly concerned about Martin's use of referring to him as "the other", since we know that the others are the living dead, albeit only thought to come from beyond the wall, and are depicted as vicious, but basically mindless. Overall, I liked the book, and it probably reads better when all of them are read in a continuous row (I had a bit of a break between 3 and 4). I'm terribly excited for Dance, as it will feature some of the most enjoyable characters.
12. Dude, I don't think you even read what I, or any of the other members wrote. If you did, you'd realize that your post is completely and utterly out of context with the subject of this thread, you dope.
13. I think Maximus is referring to the prevailing use of these types of character designs overall. At least, I hope he is! While I can understand his concerns about the character designs, I truly believe that any design, regardless of visual appeal, is only truly tested by the animation itself. Some great designs look crappy with shoddy animation, yet some terrible designs truly shine with great animation. Overall, this show sounds interesting. I'll definitely give it a try, as I find A7's reviews to be mostly in line with my tastes an perceptions.
14. OK- So the 70's King Kong is on right now and I got to thinking about movie remakes and I was curious: What is the first film remake (by majority concensus)? My wife and I are fairly sure it's going to be in the 20's or 30's, since there were quite a few silent films remade as "talkies", but we're just not sure which one. Maybe I don't know the keywords to search for because I'm not getting any answers on Google. Anyone have any ideas?
15. Haha! It dependson how far you are as to who my favorite character is. Arya is a great Point Of View (POV). Catelyn Stark, although being a tad misguuided at points is interesting as well, and Tyrion's a loveable little bastard. Further along, Bran becomes a great POV and Jon Snow get's really good.
16. A lot of the art is from the CCG, but selected by Martin himself. Other pieces are test sketches from Testor for their upcoming miniature line. Other art is commissioned for the book itself. In the forward, Martin himself decries the sometimes ametuerish work from the CCG, but praises the well done work from some of the artists.
17. Okedokee- Opened up my present and, lo and behold, I am now the proud owner of The Art of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire. After a quick run through, it is very nice. The art ranges from average- where some of the artists ain't so good at faces or proportions, to amazing- pieces of art ranging from pencils to paintings to exquisite digital art. Overall, one of the better art books I've seen, and would be well worth the money (that is, if you can't get it as a gift, like me). Almost done with Feast (I've been really busy lately), will post with thoughts once completed.
18. While I definitely appreciate the poseability they've incorporated into the Blue Destiny, I am not a fan of the design. Let's hope it the new innovations make they're way into the upcoming GFFs.
19. That's actually a good argument.
20. This may have already been mentioned, and if it has, DON'T HOUND ME ON IT!!! Toys'R'Us, via Amazon, has 4 MG kits for under $10 each. LINKY WINKY
21. I doubt if it's shill-bidding at all. Most likely, these no-feedback bidders are people who heard about this from news sources or friends and don't normally use eBay, if at all. Remember, if an auction is for charity, people will pay multiple times for something than what it's worth, simply because it is charity.
22. I have to disagree. Watching Predator now can at times be very hard on the eyes. Dutch and company come across more like "special ed" than "special forces". 353030 Although I enjoy Predator for it's classy 80's action movie style, Duke's right here about Dutch's team. Although I have to admit, I would kill for another True Lies movie. True Lies brought us what Bond movies have been missing for, at least, the last two decades.
23. Hah! That movie was soooo weak. I mistakenly thought that the battle scenes, at leat, would be cool, but they blew chunks. I agree that Saving Private Ryan been in there, but what the hell is The Matrix doing in there. The first Matrix had nothing I would construe as a "battle scene", only fight scenes.
24. OK- I was mistaken about The Hedge Knight that Graham has posted. The link you've listed is for a graphic novel version of the same short story (you can find the short story in the Legends compilation (you can find it in the HC version, or the Legends II paperback).
