Aircraft Vs Thread 3
the white drew carey replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The new attack subs are names after states, as well, with the Virginia, Texas and Hawaii already named. One of my buddies had the distinct pleasure of doing electrical engineering for the Navy, and got to ride on the Virginia. Bastard. Jimmy Carter is the third Seawolf class, which originally veered away from the city name-theme with the Seawolf (a proud, recurring name within the Navy), then swinging into SSBN territory with the Connecticut before doing another 180 and naming the third and final boat in the class after former submariner and home-builder for the homeless- Jimmy Carter. -
Oh, no... Feel free to post it. We'll never hold it against you. Just don't be surprised when poeple give their honest opinion.

p.s.- not to mention the artists has crossed the TV series with DYRL.

It's humorous, kind of, but the drawing itself isn't very well done. The coloring is the only thing that makes it look better, and that only goes so far with the "airbrush painting look", which typically looks out of place in anime-inspired drawings.

I'm telling ya': Coat the joints with clear nail polish. It'll wear off after a while, but it works well. -
Yes, yes, we all know the wings are missing. Though I barely noticed it in the game.I can't believe that a minor liberty with the character model makes the entire development studio suck. Actually, that is the complete and whole reason why it does. Once you commit to making a game out of a popular franchise, especially one where almost the entire game rests on the franchise's mecha, you are entering a realm where accuracy to the subject matter becomes just as important as game play. Imagine a Gundam game where the Gundam is lacking the classic V fins on the forehead, or a Patlabor game where Alphonse doesn't have the flashers on the shoulders. These are details that come with the territory. Secondly, when you look at the studio's response to why the wings aren't there in "battloid" mode, they simply said that they couldn't make it work. Yet every other studio who has ever made a 3D Macross game has been able to make it work. Hell, even M3 has wings in battroid mode. Laziness from a videogame studio shows, and that makes them suck. After playing RT: Battlecry and RT: Invasion, I became very unhappy with Vicious Cycle's work and decided that I don't like their games. So sue me.

While I cannot endorse that type of behavior on the field, that .gif is pretty damned funny.

He got redcarded in '98 for stomping on a Saudi Arabian player's back when the player was down. Temper, temper. All he had to was keep his cool for 10 more minutes and, win or lose, his career would've gone out on a high note (2nd place at World Cup ain't bad). Instead he had to play the idiot. I wouldn't be surprised if the trash-talking was fierce, but there is never any good reason for what he did.
-
No he won't. What people are gonna bytch at is the France coach sending Trezeguet to shot against Buffon, his goalie teammate on Juventus, hello? Tre had to switch to a less familiar shot to beat a goalie who knows him too well, and missed. 414699[/snapback] Yes, he will. Regardless of how well Italy outshot Barthez, people are going to look to Zidane for an explanation on why he lost his cool and got his arse kicked out of the game.
-
Zidane is going to be vilified for not controlling his temper. I would say congrats to Italy, but I cannot stand a team who fakes so many dives and plays so dirty, so I won't.
-
Yeah, but not enough to save them. Although that was a perfectly executed play.
-
JBO- They are lazy and they do suck. Based on the simple fact of no wings in "battloid" mode. They didn't want to take the time to make it work and make the game accurate, so they dropped the idea, and made a crappy looking VF look crappy and odd.
-
Agreed. Although I'm not too fond of the CGI mecha. Maybe if I see it in action it'll look great, but the stills are kind of blah.

You ain't kidding. I was stumbling home drunk, stepped in some doggy doo, went to wipe my foot off on a curb only to realize I was about to wife dog poop on some embassy. These two uniformed dudes with SMGs were just staring at me. I decided to move down a bit to wipe my footsie.

I've learned this much: If you want to win in soccer, play like Italy. How to play like Italy, you ask? Everytime you bump into someone, fall down and grab your shin. Did you get bumped in the head or shoulder? Fall down and grab your shin. The ref will inevitably call a foul on the other team. Did someone on the other team kick your right ankle? Fall down and grab your left shin (this has actually happened). Did you run into and trip over a player who was falling down? Grab your shin and whine for a foul. Italy is one of the most pathetic teams I have ever seen. No matter who wins tomorrow, I hope they beat the pussy-ass pants off of Italy (although Portugal plays just as dirty, so I wouldn't mind seeing Italy get a taste of their own medicine).

My wife and I watched it. It was fun. Seriously, Supes is the one superhero franchise that is foolish to take seriously. Ever since his "humble beginnings" (what a joke), Superman has been about Bigger, Faster and Louder. Superman is THE popcorn superhero. And this movie was fun. The one complaint I'd say we really had was that, being an extension of Superman - The Movie and Superman II, Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane sucked. She ain't got nothin' on Margot Kidder.

Are they elitist or something? "The internet must rejoice, for we are allowing people to join our forum... But only for two weeks!!!" That and the fact they won't accept e-mail addresses from free services just rubs me the wrong way. -
My wife and I were rooting for USA out of general principals, but now that they're out we've got a soft spot for The Black Stars of Ghana.

New Star Trek Movie In 2009..

Mikeszeleky brings forth an interesting concept. A show about Section 31 or, possibly, Starfleet's intelligence service, and their adversaries, would be interesting. But it would have to be done right. Imagine this: We have a show which showcases The intelligence service, and all of the things they do. The main part of the show would be brainy dudes sitting around figuring stuff out and watching their decisions unfold. The side-stories in the show would be about the black ops units, the starships and other parts of Starfleet which are basically pawns in the intelligence unit's game. Think of the dismal E-Ring done right. But with long ranging and overlapping story arcs. Within the intelligence unit, you could have a mixture of idealistic officers as well as those who think the end justifies the means (and of course those who are aiming to put the Federation on top, sometimes by devious manipulations). I think a show like this owuld work because Star Trek fans, in general, are fairly intelligent. They want more than a "story of the week", and a show like this could cover all bases. Offer enough incentive, and you could have almost all of the biggies from TNG, DS9 and Voyager show up on occassion as they are sent on missions dictated by the higher ups. -

Battlestar Galactica is the shiznit. It's not cinema but, IMHO, it's the best sci-fi property out there at the moment. -
While I think the "human" Roveltech figures are kind of creepy, that shot of Revy kneeling while aiming behind her is a prime example of the awesome poseability of these figs. If Kaiyado is smart, they will parlay this line into something big.

Battlecry has many, many aesthetic issues which make it a sub-par game- First is, of course, the lack of wings in Battloid mode. The developers said they just couldn't make it work, so they tossed them out altogether which, to me, seems like a cheap short cut instead of trying to faithfully recreate an anime (note- The wings are still there in the PS2 Macross game). Secondly, Battlecry goes for a cel-shaded, overly cartoony look. Yet when the characters pop up on your screen to talk to you, they have this crappy, digitally painted look to them. On the other hand, PS2 Macross does the opposite. Realistically rendered VF's with obvious anime-style characters. Last- Graphics. PS Macross blows Battlecry out of the water in how clean and pretty the graphics are. IMHO, even VF-X2 has better looking graphics than Battlecry. Now, don't get me wrong. A game is a game. If Battlecry actually looked and played well, I wouldn't harp on it. But I think it's an average game at best. Battlecry = Meh... PS2 Macross = Hooray (albeit, too short)!!!
