  1. oh wow, I'm so glad I decided not to pick up the 2nd hand ones floating around. These slight improvement look much better. I'd definitely get one this time (also no multiples necessary) So POs up on Monday? Hmmm...right after Golden Week..
  2. Going a little off-topic, I really wouldn't mind it much if Bandai makes an SDF-1, about the same size as the Macross Quarter. At least if it'll mean it would be slightly more affordable
  3. Holy cow.. that's insane I could get one of those for like 70 bucks...
  4. I own a VF-1S Hi-Metal (Fokker) for some time now. Been wondering if I should get rid of it. Got it right before I started collecting Yammies and Chogokin Valks late last year. It's alright for what it is, a small transformable Valk. It's pretty tough, but joints do feel a bit loose.
  5. Yeap.. that's a 3 metres tall statue... The guy's art is pretty much like that .... wait till you see his other works..
  6. Hmm.. generally, i collect toys based on my love for a character or franchise. Also, having more playability (parts swapping, articulation and gimmicks) would give me better incentives to buy it (I make it a general rule to avoid collecting statues). Also, design is an important factor for me. Just because I like a character doesn't necessarily mean I'd buy a figure of it (though I have broken this rule when it comes to Macross). I also try to justify my purchases as a way of supporting the creators' works. Plus, it'd give me a physical representation of something I like. Nowadays, I trim and wean down my decisions on buying as I believe I'll be lacking space to even display them, let alone store their boxes. On that note, what do most of you do with your boxes - especially those collecting multiple toy line? Particularly those with space constraints. I believe most Valk collectors would avoid tossing the boxes due to their potential resale value (and yet they have the biggest boxes ever). Like some have justified, it sure beats other vices like gambling, alcohol and crack. In that case, would Takashi Murakami's 3M girl be your holy grail? :D
  7. I guess. We humans simply can't resist the allure of shiny objects.
  8. the funny thing was, Yamato Valks had been too expensive for me for the longest time. It was only when the 30th Anniversary release of the VF-1S Perfect Transformation V2 w/ option parts that came out did I really felt it was at an affordable price. Since then, I've been buying up those I liked and were on discount. And then the whole Yamato folding happened and prices started going up again. It's a slippery slope, but I guess I should be thankful I managed to snag most of the ones I've always wanted or designs I liked before the rise. Still, I wouldn't mind a few more
  9. I don't know why I thought the colour would have looked slightly metallic like in the promo shots. It still looks nice though, can't wait to ship mine
  10. Interesting. Pity they don't get to enjoy the holidays then. In that case, I might just ship my HLJ warehouse loot together with this.
  11. Even if HLJ works during Golden Week (NY is doing that, though I don't see why they can't take their usual annual week long holiday), I'm pretty sure Japan Post / EMS staff won't be working during this period, right?
  12. Cool, I guess. Yeah, it would be an expensive container indeed. Probably be using it as a ride when taking pics for my 1/12 figures. Maybe it pit it against the Quad (apparently 1/12 figures can fit in that too, but with an open top). Also, like jenius said, it'd make an impressive display piece. Would probably give it a top coat if I find the look of the surface to plasticky.
  13. Was debating between whether or not to get a Yamato Scopedog.. and finally broke today, when I saw the V2 with clear armour parts on Mandarake. (whether this is true V2 or not, I do not know ) They also had a Chirico giftset, which I decided to pass on. I've only just started getting into this series and I like what I've seen so far, though the pacing is abit slow. Ultimately, I just want a sweet ride for my 1/12 figures.
  14. I pretty much missed the boat on that one, because I came in late to the game. All the new renewals (VF-25G and RVF), and reissues are what's helping me get my collection. I'm not sure if they will ever reissue the VB-6, and I've been scouring around for one that's not ridiculously overpriced. Lost a recent auction too because my proxy's bid got cancelled by the seller
  15. a 3rd VB-6 ?! I swear.. those are so difficult to obtain (unless I pay the close to 300 bucks for them)
  16. Indeed... I can't wait for the reissue.. also armor parts needs to get reissued too.. I heard you paid a pretty penny for that
  17. man, I got excited when I saw they carried the vb-6 monster.. but then my heart sank when I saw the price
  18. I've been mauling over whether to pickup a Scopedog. I've seen a few 2nd hand, the basic purple one and the red shoulder + parachute pack set at relatively affordable price. Not sure if I should take the plunge.. It would make a sweet ride for my 1/12 scale figures
  19. I can see why they would want to renew the Quarter (movie colours I guess), but was there a need for a Koenig Monster renewal?
  20. There isn't a YF-29 Ozma toy yet, though there is the 30th Anniversary colours (white and black with yellow). It's also on NY, and the price is pretty decent if you ask me. http://www.nippon-yasan.com/lang-en/macross/4450-macross-f-dx-chogokin-yf-29-durandal-valkyrie-30th-anniversary-color-reissue.html
  21. Ahh.. yes, I pretty much share your opinion. I was pretty fortunate to score the Valks I got at discount before Yamato went under, so I'm on the same boat of being a-okay if Arcadia starts making Valks. I don't have anything else I really want from Yamato right now, except maybe a VF-1 / VF-19 variant at best.. or the SDF-1, though that has always been very expensive, so it's not something I'd really need. Same goes for the VF-4G On the other hand, I do have a few more Frontier Valks from Bandai I'm after.. then I hope to be done with that series (I do have other toylines to collect after all)
  22. Frankly, i wouldn't be too surprised if Arcadia did continue Yamato's work of making awesome Valks. I'm curious though, how will those who panick bought all those Valks feel?
  23. Always nice to meet a fellow Singaporean toy collector on an intl board. 1) Haha, I know the feeling. I'm fortunate my wife is pretty okay with my hobby (she does occasionally nag at my growing collection of toys, because I refuse to throw most boxes). We're looking to get a custom display cabinet done up for both out collections. 2) With our small flats.. I totally concur.. 3) I've gotten into Frontier collecting only recently, thanks to the YF-29 30th Anniversary, and managing to snag all the recent renewals and reissues, so I too am almost done. Collecting multiple toyline can indeed be expensive (Fewtures?.. ouch!) Oh, I didn't mean that your prices were too high in general, it's just that it's beyond my current expenses. Also, among your collection that I already own, I got those at pretty good discounts (HLJ sales, HK Collectible discounts, and other places), cause I'm a cheap bastard Good luck with the sales though, I'll be keeping a lookout in case I break and decide to snag 1 or 2 of the items in there.
  24. Oh wow. I wasn't interested in the YF-29 Ozma ver but now I might be. That head looks pretty good. Reminds me a little of the VF-171 head shape.
  25. Ozma's YF-29 in the game was black though
