Hehe...you're in luck. I had bitter/sweet memories of this game when I was a kid. It was absurdly hard and probably designed to suck the quarters from you. It also had awesome graphics for its time and felt very cinematic. I'm sorry if i sounded like i was trying to impose my views on translations or something....but that wasn't my intent. Neither was it a "beggars shouldn't be choosers" kinda argument either. People asked how the AiA-IZ subs were, and that's how i saw it. I also disagree that paid translations are of better quality/accuracy than free ones but won't argue about that here. Some are just horrendous...and i'm not even a Japanese expert to catch them.

I just regarded "Frontier" as the fleet name. Every other name are the specific components of the fleet ie: Battle 25, Island 1, etc

OT but maybe could some members who've played the game write up something for Wiki cuz till today Wiki doesn't have anything on VF-X.

I think he's just suspected to be somehow related to the Black Knights but no real proof so he's under surveillance as well as they know he has some link to C.C so was using him as bait. Started playing Monster Hunter Freedom 2 with friends. Fun game! GoW...played finish and wasn't very happy with the ending/storyline which felt shafted. And is Kratos the most abused but manly videogame character in all videogame history? He virtually pwned all the greek gods and gave them the finger.

Hmm....then i guess its just a matter of "preference". I prefer the words to be translated literally. Any "subtlety" will have to be discerned by the viewer him/herself. As a good example, AFK's translations tend to translate stuff in a very american context which although might be the true context of a particular scene but in terms of translation not exactly accurate. Like "Kairei kudasai" into "just get lost" rather than the more accurate "just go home". And remember the Gurren Lagann Nyoron subs that included the "F***" in the WHO THE F*** DO YOU THINK I AM....oh sure...added for extra context but the f-bombs aren't exactly accurate.

I won't argue with the Japanese speakers since they officially learnt it after all....but to me the key to understanding japanese is just picking a general english word for their words and it WILL fit all contexts. "Hurry" can be used in a "Just do it" way as well as dozens of other contexts so it should be fine as a translation to non-japanese-speaking people. Same with "Sumimasen" for "excuse me" but more generally appropriate if you understand it as "sorry for disturbing" then it will make most sense in all contexts.

Actually it just means "hurry". Anyway i can see why some people were complaining about the broadcast version but actually I appreciated how it feels less disjointed at some parts, mostly because of the added parts. IE: Alto talking to Sheryl after the concert now actually made more sense since they showed the scene where he saved her thus a kind of "familiarity" was formed otherwise not shown in DE. Also where they were "shooed" from backstage due to Sheryl's biatchness and their act program was simplified. I guess if we never seen the DE version, we won't complain much. Probably the DE version was something the art director wanted to do officially but can't due to time constraints on a broadcast schedule. If they took the missing parts in DE and put them into DE, it would be the best ep 1 but probably be 40 minutes long. PS: Seems like they never fixed the missing V-stab problem with the VF-171s.

Shinsen is ok as speed subbers since they mostly translate from the chinese subs (that come out practically immediately) into english ones. At least they're not "Mass naked child events" bad.

A Johnny 5 remake would have to look like a robot about humanoid sized and will not look too awkward in general public so i guess a giant timber-wolf/ED clone won't work. If anything we'd probably see an AIBO-esque (AIBO's the dog...forgot what the humanoid was called) machine with some sort of beam cannon that can fly and transform is currently the US's top secret UAV project.

What Sergorn said. I have a P4 2.0 Ghz laptop and it doesn't run HD h264 either. CPU becomes 100% and lags like crap. I was told that CoreAVC might help my problems (which is a fast h264 codec) but that didn't help either. Guess we need to upgrade our computers, ieh4f.
