And if we follow common sci-fi tropes, usually you can't jump/fold very far example from say earth to center of galaxy immediately. You will have to do it over several jumps. I'm too used to teens being selected as pilots that it doesn't strike me as odd anymore....when it SHOULD. You're right, there was no real reason for them to pick Alto, other than the fact that he seems like a rough diamond that has big potential to be an ace pilot. The only reason he's there now is cuz he whined to Ozma and he saved his adopted sister. And why they are hiring Mikhail and Luca...perhaps there's a reason why they don't want military men.

1.) I already mentioned this in point one. That's the !@*&(!@ problem. It looks like a timestop but from the standoff with Lelouch, it was revealed that his ability ISN'T a time stop. That led to my problems with the story. 2.) He could Geass Rollo to help him discretely and nobody will know he is geassed. He didn't have to eliminate Rollo until convenient.

If only Luca has an awesome commanding voice like the AWACs from all the Ace Combat games. Or perhaps like Lelouch's. That would be cool.

That was in what...episode 1? Which i fully agree with you. How about episode 4? Alot of people walking dancing singing etc? How about the generic students in the classroom and those audience (other than Ranka and whatshername) in the miss macross frontier competition which are static? Then not to mention in ep 3, Ranka grew bigger "psycho killer eyes" in one scene while talking to Alto. But i'm not even arguing about these little details that i can easily forgive. I'm talking about the main characters and how they look different/strange in some scenes and how the fluid animation of nyan2 and the Sheryl concert from ep1 was lost in later episodes. At least in 00, the meisters and main characters look the same in every frame and scene. This doesn't seem to be the case in MF. The animation (and by animation i mean framerates/fluidity) don't look like they dropped throughout. Sure it doesn't look so bad now but i worry for the future. You're just biased. Everyone knows you hate gundam. And I don't think anyone will agree SEED or DESTINY is in anyway better than 00. SEED was horrendous. I'm not gonna argue about the fight choreography because i feel both MF and 00 are good in their own way. Recycled animation? There were some, but not very noticeable and very rare. Not as much as SEED and most of the Gundam franchise. And you have to remember the action sequences in MF are CG....much easier to choreograph and do on CG compared to traditional animation

Ep 4 was awesome but there was 2 things that bug me. 1.) Rollo's Geass: explained to stop people's perception of time...in othe words, like shutting down your brain for a few moments so it seems Rollo is moving very fast or teleporting. But if this is the case, why does the Vincent appear to disappear from people's radar in episode 1? And also people piloting the mecha whose minds get shut down, the mecha should still be moving so appearing to the victim like he lost balance. And also in the flashback sequence, Rollo shoots his victims and they remain standing....i think Sunrise screwed up abit and couldn't decide the power between stopping time and stopping perception of time. 2.) Lelouch who didn't geass rollo when he could've. Instead, he played mind games which are was out of his character. The mindgames worked....but what if it didn't? What if it didn't play out the way he wanted it? Lelouch that we know should've just eliminated the threat then and there. He does things like this with Suzaku due to emotional attachment but he has no such feelings for Rollo.

I've not been following the HG debate so i'm abit lost. I thought HG has been blocking only the 1st macross series, SDFM, because they have bought rights to it? That's why Macross Plus made it to the US through Bandai visual because it was an entirely new animation. So why would Frontier be affected by this supposed protection of HG's property and interests? Or is anything with the word "MACROSS" affected?

It just occured to me...don't giant meltran/zentrans talk with a strange echo in their voice? Or does that only apply when they are speaking zentran?

If anything i think the quality for 00 was laudable and impressive for a modern anime. Could you point out at which point there were "horrible animation problems" ? I definately missed it. The cel animation of the mecha fights were brilliant and fluid that it would've made Itano proud. Also be aware that 00 and Code Geass were intentionally split into 2 and 3 seasons respectively to maintain the level of quality rather than 1 long running season. That said I've never heard anyone complaining bout how 00 sucks in terms of the art/animation...only in Macrossworld? Now that i just remembered, even Eureka 7 suffered a bad art quality drop in about 3-4 episodes. But its forgivable since it only occured in those episodes and the rest of the 52 odd episodes were perfect and the affected episodes were fillers anyway. It wasn't a nose dive for sure, but there was considerable degradation between eps 1 to 4. CG was perfect and i have no qualms with it. But the non-CG cel animation had issues with mouth-to-voice sync, lower frame rates for animation, art looking strange and inconsistent in small 5 second spurts. Not really complaining but I fear if this trend continues further.

Being someone who watches alot of anime, i would have to sadly say that Frontier's consistency is dropping with each new episode. You'll never see these kind of quality drops in most sci fi anime like Code Geass, Gundam 00, Planet ES, etc. Its usually the crappy girlgame adaptations that are prone to these quality drop horrors. But oh well, lets just hope they keep the animation and art at a tolerable level....i'm still tolerating it and i've seen worse quality drops.

Any hard cold facts about Kawamori doing stuff under a pseudonym? Cause from ANN site there seems to be a whole team of scenario writers which made me think Kawamori had little to do with the idea and direction of the anime. I'm aware of Megaroad and the whole Breast Fighter business but not sure how it all gel-ed with Kawamori = the creator of Macross. Weren't they just designs for an anime which simply evolved into Macross? Very much like how the VF-25 concept changed to what it is today?

Hmmm....blame it on subs. Gattai sub version, Ozma said it was precious and he should be more careful with it (IIRC) and KK praised Zentran technology and nothing to day comes close to it. One of the points i brought up. She may or may not be 100% zentran , which doesn't really matter since humans are able to go through the micro/macronisation process as well. The question is was she originally a 1st gen zentran giant (bred by cloning) or she was born from one or a pair of zentran parents, which through the magic of culture was born micronised. Unless of course giant zentrans banging each other should still be possible....but quite gross to imagine. My personal opinion since you're just 4 episodes in, that you should switch to the official spelling. You don't have to correct the previous episodes but at least the newer episodes is correct. Btw nice job and thanks for the subs. I prefer AiA-Iz compared to Gattai and you guys seem more knowledgable of the source material you're subbing.
