Sauce? Where/when did he say this is the official reason? Another person mentioned that he didn't use the VF-19 because it looked too much like the VF-25. Official reason or not, i don't agree that they look too much like hero fighters. With abit of editing and stylistic changes, they'll look like cannon fodders as well. Less flashy paint schemes will definately help. Besides showing the VF-25 outperforming the VF-19s will definately put the Excalibur in its place.

About the VF-171 vs VF-19, is there a possiblity that NUNS and UNS are not one in the same and there may be split governments? Its not too far fetched to think that an interstellar race be governed by more than just one almighty government. Perhaps after the events of VF-X2, the "rebels" formed the NUNs while the UNS loses some support but is still around?

Sorry for being critical. Truth be told i don't "zoom in" on anything. I watch the show, notice something odd....then backtrack to see what's wrong. Just call it my "wolf-sense" (like spider sense...) That zoomed pic was just to prove a point. Its not like i'm nitpicking and looking for faults in anime. And Ranka is not a background character (like klanklan is). She's the lead for cryin out loud.

As flattered as i am that a new sticky thread be made to house my personal whinings, i don't think it necessary. But agreed that eugimon has gone OT with his comparisons that do not relate to the issue at hand and my rebuttals and cluttered the thread somewhat. But as far as I am concerned, I have said what i have to say and already content that at least some people have finally noticed the drop of quality that I have noticed since ep 3 when previously it was "what quality drop? It looks GORGEOUS. DECULTURE EVEN...". Onward to ep 7. If the quality drops even more, then MAYBE i'll make a dedicated thread to bashing it. Up to the mods to sticky it or not. Don't get me wrong. I still love macross and i still like Frontier. Just wished it could be better.

Did the major ever looked like that? No. Did Horo looked like that in an episode? No. Did Van or Hitomi ever looked like that? No. (unless you are complaining about their long nosed char designs which were abit strange but at least its consistent) LOL....again. Show me screenshots of 00 characters looking like the screenshots above. The things you complain about in 00 seem to be more of gundam stylistics rather than the animation and art quality. That's Gundam....and that's how they animate their battle scenes. It doesn't make it a "bad animation". Now lets move on from the 00 talk cause you clearly missed the point. I think i'm cynical that after watching alot of anime, a quality drop in more than 3 episodes usually means it won't recover from it...or at least there will be much more episodes that will be of that quality. But oh well....there's hope for fans. Apparently some DVD releases will patch up the animation and art that was bad in the TV series, just like the Nanoha StrikerS series which seriously on all account had real bad quality drops....but fixed in the DVD release. (sadly no one can save it from the bad pacing and plot)

Yeah....even ni Macross 7, they referred to Chlore's fleet as a "Meltran" Fleet. I think of it this way. Zentraedi is the race, just like humanity/mankind. The Zentraedi are made of Zentraedi(Plural for Zentran) and Meltrandi (Plural for Meltran). Humanity is made of men and women, but as a race, we are also known as "Mankind". See where i'm getting at? The Meltrans are still Zentraedi....if only because they use the male designation to encompass the whole race just like humans.

Welcome to Macrossworld, where we argue about small hands and what not. Its worth pointing out that the animation is on a downward trend. Plot so far....is debatable. I see where chrono is coming from with his bitterness but i'm not that badly affected by it yet. For now it does seem like a fan-wank series where we fans will go "GAAA GAAA" after years deprived of a above subpar macross series. (That was since MacPlus?) 00 had characters that looked the same for 25 episodes without any loss of detail. The frame rates have also remained consistent throughout. Can't say the same with Frontier. Its because we are fans that we complain. What....you rather revell the show even if its bad like Trekkies do? *escapes Trekkie lynch mob* Couldn't have said it better myself. Its not like we whine for nothing. I believe Graham and a whole lot of others were "huh...what animation problems? I see it as PERFECT". And as for your examples of GITS, Escaflowne and 00, i don't see it. They are all right up there in terms art/animation and Frontier can't compare to them. If you wanna use a yardstick for good high quality, consistent animation/art, try Seirei No Moribito by Production I.G. Spice and Wolf...ALSO had good consistent art and animation. Sure its not eye porn with fancy smancy effects and explosions, but at least Horo's tail looks the same level of bushiness in all 13 episodes and she remains moe in all 13 eps. We don't go "uhhh...Horo has weird eyes in episode 6". Frontier is 6 eps in and we see strange eyebrows and even variable breast sizes. ] I hope you see where i'm getting at cuz i sure don't see what you're getting at about S&W and 00.
