Macross Frontier Episode 9 Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*
wolfx replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
I think another problem with this episode is that the squads seem to break out of formation and fight individuall alot. Today it was Klan, Alto and Michel. What happened to Ozma and the rest of Pixie squadron? They could've done more to show off the "team work" of the SMS and probably with Ozma doing more in terms of "commanding" Skull Squadron like barking out orders to cannon fodders and stuff. Right now it seems like "everyone does his own thing" with protagonists helping each other along the way. Luca provides Michel with movement data...so that was pretty cool. I wanna see more "squad-based-combat" if you will. I'd be pissed at the number of times Alto's GAR-ness makes him break out of formation every episode. -

Hmmm really? Screenies? -
In response to junior from the macross thread: Like i said i don't see what you mean. The plan isn't vague. Its to have the world in a state of true peace by threatening others into submission. Or is your problem that you require true protagonists? I realised on various boards that most watchers have is the lack of true protagonists in 00. True protagonists mean that the anime centers around what's happening around a particular main character for the audience to feel attached to. 00 on the other hand takes a different narrative style and instead tells it in a "novel-like" form where various sides and various characters share the limelight in the grand scheme of things. In other words the plot itself is the protagonist. Some argue that some episodes don't advance the plot at all when I thought that each episode brings us new insight into how stuff works in the various countries and people's perspective. That said i felt 00 brought fresh air into the old gundam TV series concept of teen mecha pilot gets stuck on a small ship that happens to turn the tide of battle while running away from baddies who want them dead. It ain't perfect and i feel it has much potential going into the 2nd season.

I don't see how the stuff in spoiler tags proves your point about protagonists who don't know which side they are fighting for....but i say we bring this to the Gundam 00 thread. -
The topic title alone warrants this thread to be closed.

The miclonisation tubes still seem too magical for me. I mean its like disappear from small tube and reappear in big tube...wow how convenient. Lets do this to our cows and it can feed the whole colony for aeons.

I think the VF-27 is the natural evolution of the VF-25, or at least what the VF-25 should have been. They share the same silhoutte and transformation. The VF-27 has the "fast packs" built into its frame rather than the requirement to put on packs and it even has an internal fold booster and various exotic technologies going for it. I have the feeling that the VF-25 is actually the "cheaper" alternative to the VF-27 or at least the stop-gap design before the VF-27 rather than one created by a competitor. Thoughts? -
Dude....if it happens naturally, its not "defloration". At least that's how i saw the picture. *Shrug*

How about adding another to the NO list.... "Birds & the Bees" since that was the image that closed down the other thread.

I think guidelines need to be set on what is deemed ok and what is deemed risque. I for one thought that the image itself is harmless and quite funny although the topic it touches on is kinda "birds and the bees" kinda thing and nothing explicit. Mods got culture shocked perhaps. I don't think my post warranted overzealous moderating action as to close down the whole thread, but at least i wasn't banned without warning or anything so I'm not complaining much. I think a gentle warning and possibly a deletion of the offending post would suffice. Well since what's done is done, I suggest the mods put down a set of rules or guidelines for the imageshare topics before reopening it. Sorry to all Klan fans. -

Then your Gundam fans are not true gundam fans. I'm not saying i am one though since i prefer Macross. Anyway, the point the guy made in that forum that i bolded....Gundam doesn't make a clear distinction between the good guys and bad guys. Traditionally it has always been an anime laced with anti-war sentiments and Gundam always has a story that proves it takes both sides to wage war, and both sides are at fault. Same goes for 00. -

I was randomly clicking on some photos that interest me and found out one of the thumbnails is wrongly linked. http://macrossworld.com/macross/toys/YF-21/123.JPG should be http://macrossworld.com/macross/toys/YF-21/23.JPG -

Not really....considering it swings around the cockpit like the SV-51 whereas in the VF/YF-19, the torso section just goes over the cockpit. -
Really? Sauce? Significant change?

The sword was never used in the anime but it was always featured in toys and models of Blow Superior. Smaller Vajra can be destroyed by conventional gunfire and missiles. VF-171s also can if they are skilled. Quite different yet similar. The cockpit in VF-25 folds upwards, the nose cone folds downwards and the chest assembly swings forward covering it. The SV-51's cockpit remains in position while the chest assembly folds over it. If anything i'll say that Kawamori took the same idea from the SV-51, and tweaked the transformation just abit so it will be unique. Yeah....the thing looks like a mini-macross cannon. I just hope that VF-27s are not made from Vajra parts or something like Evangelion....which can go berserk. -

Feels more like an Aquarion Mars vibe to me. It was also like this since DYRL? but not explicitly clear. If the Yamato toy is any canon to go by, the legs go into the backpack and the hands stay in the same position as in Frontier. Only the N-ger was worn like a exo suit. -
Well....Bandai never shows off these rapid prototypes during conventions but always shows off the ones that are already the final sculpts. So the VF-25 sculpt shown recently has valid reason for worry.

To add to Graham's list: VF-27 seems to have new OTEC stealth technology since it freely launches and docks with the Frontier without anyone's knowledge....unless they were hackd. -

Just saw it. Nice episode. Not much complaints except I wished the character dynamics between Klan and Michel could've been more fleshed out than it was. The screenshot of Klan playing with Michel was very cute. And wow...the VF-27's active stealth must be some new OTEC or something. It launches in and out of the Frontier and no one notices it. -

This sounds bad....and i dun get what some ppl mentioned that its different from what Graham said. Even the 1/72s had a locking torso..... -

Well if they included this line, you'd already suspect the legitimacy of the book/article.
