Hey can someone explain to me what is up with the Hydras and disease that the frontier president is announcing at the beginning? The gg subs i watched didn't make sense and i kinda forgot about it until now. Something about Hydras to be culled due to disease is it?

Its still strange that they decided to make it look exactly like the SDF-1 though, where the transformation would've been pointless. Also the 1st generation SDF-1 was designed to be a gunship....not quite fitting to be a research ship. But that may just mean different internals so i guess its moot. Gah...kawamori gave us a mind f***.

Goro Taniguchi, the director's tendency to become more "Over The Top" as the episodes continue is already showing. I don't mind the fillers that much since they bring you back to "funny highschool comedy" instead of "i wanna take over the world" mode. But I am really bothered on how the series begins to suspend my belief that everything (even luck) is JUST AS PLANNED by Zero. Its getting too deus ex. I also didn't really like how everything was resetted in R2. But meh...it doesn't feel as bad as Destiny. I hope it never reaches that level.

Keep it civil. I personally feel that Frontier could do with a more modern narrative style. The show goes with a "old anime" feel where things are taken for granted with little development on side characters and sometimes even the main characters themselves. Example: Alto's training was less than half an episode, so is Ranka's shot to fame and the interactions between characters in school could've been far more developed than they are currently. (And Klan Klan needs more screen time ) I feel that Kawamori's promise of a "Highschool Romance in the Macross Universe" undelivered....which probably to some people would rather it not be a highschool romance. So what do you think of how the plot s progressing so far? Awesome? Ok? Not? Discuss!

My logical take on the whole transforming thing: I think parts of the ship was supposed to move in a way that will supply power directly to the cannons as an emergency measure in the original SA ship design. It just happened that the parts that could move were refitted into the SDF-1 that it happens to look like a humanoid (much to Global's surprise as well) For all we know the Macross might've looked like a duck after transformation and still fire its main cannon. Of course firing without transformation would've been the best option as they don't need to wait for tranformation to happen before firing the main cannons. And the issue of overheating/malfunctioning conduits will be moot.

The Tomahawk is definately drool worthy. And its pretty cheap too considering its size. (probably cuz it doesn't transform) Its gonna be released next month right? w00ts. I hope they make the Jaegarmech Defender next.
