  1. Yeah I'm with you Shaorin, I got the whole collection of macross movies/episodes and when I got to macross 7 , I was like .....ummmmmmm What in the.?!?!!?!?!?!! I could not even get thru one episode! Lol. And I tried! Just could not handle it. When I started my DYRL collection I was planning on collecting all the weathered editions but after my wife got me the Roy's vf-1s w/weathered Super packs I was pretty content to at least have one, but did not think it was worth getting the whole skull squadron. Besides I figured I could weather them myself after I pulled off my first Hase kit w/ MWChengs tips and tricks! I'm just trying to get a little more consistent with my airbrush before I work on my yamatos.
  2. Yeah Yeah I was glued to that thread last night but apparently it was some kind of April fools joke! Lol or something changed I dunno but I would like to start off simple with the frontier collection. We will see how long the preorders last!
  3. Thanks plastik! Took me a bit to get my lil' fortress of solitude together !Lol The stand on that hase kit is from this 3 ball joint mechanical stand I had laying around in my shop. I took it apart and made 2 out of them. I don't know what it was used for originally but they look a lot better than those hase 1/72 in flight stands! They thighten down with an Allen wrench and hold the valk by the gunpod!
  4. Well I just completed my DYRL and I have been watching macross frontier lately for the 1st time and as of now is my 2nd favorite. I know they are the most expensive collectibles but I'm gonna start eventually once my wallet gets some rest.! Lol
  5. My stash since January .... I think I'm hooked!
  6. What stores/ websites will have the renewals? Disregard last question..! Lol
  7. So where does one sign up for this? Is this a group buy? Prices?
  8. just pre-ordered Vf-1S & SS parts,,,,,, lets see how long it takes for June to get here!! lol looking forward to this!!
  9. He probably tightened the screws that hold the Glass too too tight until it took a dump on his face...lol Those things have to be treated gently. I was totally scared when i had to break 2 of them down, and load 1 assembled into my little 2 door Golf GTI!!!! And then i had to drive 1 hour back to my house thru the bumpy streets of Seattle... and...... the coilovers (low suspension) on my car didnt help! Scary stuff! lol but it worked out fine~
  10. you should give craigslist or ebay a look..... I found 3 black Detolfs for 45 dollars each and I convinced the guy to give me all 3 for 100 bucks!!!! But i had to drive like an hr. to get them, take them apart and then build them back up. Apparently this family guy had a close friend that collected Disney Statues. The guy passed away and his friend was left with all his collectibles......I guess i lucked out! these things are nice to make your collection look organized with all the surrounding glass.... Good luck!
  11. How much would one of these kits cost petar?
  12. that's what I'm talking about Kicker! This thread was in need of some pictures!!! hmmm..... makes me want to take pics of my humble growing collection... but will have to wait until tomorrow.
  13. Well, the way I see it, many people go out and spend this kind of money to get some joy out of it right? and come back home with just memories. (or an empty wallet) On the other hand, I find joy every morning on my way to work at 5 am, when i walk out the door ,past my small, humble yet growing collection. When i get back from work , its still there!! So maybe I've grown up a bit and I'm tired of the club/bar scene, going out and spending half my paycheck, but i know at any given moment i can turn around and put my whole collection up for sale anywhere and get a couple of thousand dollars in a heartbeat! lol, of course i would never forgive myself for doing it but its nice to know that i could at any given time or in case of an emergency or maybe a new hobby......(I highly doubt it..; I see this more and more everyday as a small rewarding "investment"..... Nice Stash there Plastik!!! Now all you need is the rest of the complete collection, like 15-20 figure stands, and a couple of Ikea Detolfs and you are set!!! lol
  14. Here are some snap shots of my humble collection. 1/60 yamato Roy Focker VF-1S Weathered edition, and a Hikaru VF-1A...
  15. Sweetenesssssss! Nice detail vf_1s..... I too had to do a double take on your 1/48.... At first glance it looked like a new improved version of a club-M! I immediately thought I had missed out on new posts revealing new kits! Lol. I like your display area and sharpness of the spread of weapons.
  16. Actually ...I was looking into a 1/60 unassembled/unpainted vf-1s to customize it with a "low visibility " paint scheme, but I got way too many hasegawa kits to go thru before I can unload cash on a yamato.... Everything with its due time......
  17. Here are last nights update.. Moving on to decals today.!!! I should probably start a separate thread.:)/>
  18. Thanks chas, I don't think I will have that problem, what I meant is that the legs bend completely, and are not glued at any joints. I modified the legs and cut the back of the boot to pull the back leg out and have better balance all together. As you can see in the pictures, the legs can extend/bend and the gerwalks sits lower thus, has a better center of gravity... No splits for this gerwalk!
  19. @mechtech: this kit is a combination of a hasegawa vf-1s super strike battroid and a vf-1s fighter. As soon as I got done with my 1st kit, I wanted a bigger challenge and before I could finish a battroid i had been working on for sometime, I changed my mind and decided to go for it. The gerwalks legs articulate all the way up and down and it's not glued at the joints so you can pose it standing or flying..!
  20. trying to get this Gerwalk out of the workbench in the next week...!
  21. Thanks a bunch, macrossjunkie, coreyd, and cheng. I have also realized that advice and tips can only get you so far, until its up to you (the modeler) to figure how much or less of the technique should be applied. I have learned a bunch of my own little tricks and short cuts by mistake and by trying new things along the way. I think once a person has the basics down, it's all downhill from there. I think I love models as much as I do the yamato toys, just want to be more precautious with my toys since they are far more expensive and have less room for errors.....that being said, macrossjunkie, I think your custom toy collection is by far my favorite... And thanks again for the advice..!
  22. Hey there Mr.Cheng, 1st of all , I'd like to thank and congratulate you on yet another very inspiring work of art. I really Dig your style! I had a quick question regarding the kind of wash or oils you use to panel line and weather the actual Yamato Toys. My first Yamato was the 1/60 weathered version of the vf-1s roy focker (love the look), and now Im looking into customizing a yamato vf-1a. I did a wash and oil panel lining on a hasegawa vf-1s following your instructions and it turned out wonders. I guess my question is , Is it safe to take the same approach, materials to a plastic yamato toy as to a model kit? air brush, gloss and flat coats and all? I have been looking all over for a post i read in the past from you regarding panel lining and all I remember is that there are somethings to watch out for when doing so, so as to not ruin the plastic and make it turn weird colors.... once again, Im a big fan of your work and looking forward to learning from your post..
  23. Cool, that makes sense. Thanks guys, I got a vf-1a that came out jacked out of the box, brand new. O well, I expected it. Even got a lil' discount! Will post pics as soon as I receive my package from shapeways!
