  1. I think he was referring to the VF-22 Papa Immelman was seen walking toward in that flashback scene which appeared to have the pauldrons from an EX-Gear in its cockpit.
  2. If Macross Delta had the same amount of episodes as a Gundam series I could see it working out beautifully. They could make battle scenarios stretch out two episodes, Multi-episode arcs dedicated to one thing while still pushing the main story forward. Instead they have to cram in so much in practically half the time. Practically every(hopefully with the exception of this current one) battle starts and ends in one episode usually during the last 5-10 minutes thats just not enough time to showcase every character taking part in the battle instead we are lead to believe Hayate is a one man army taking on Bouge an Keith while everyone watches commenting on how pretty the sky is that day.
  3. While yes I would too like to see anyone else besides the three you mentioned fight as at this point its kinda getting old I mean there is so many other characters at play. But that is what I feel is whats holding Delta back, too many characters at play and not enough time/budget to show them. Frontier had it easy, as it was pretty much Alto and Ozma doing all the fighting against disposable enemies, the Vajra, that they can afford to struggle with and kill every engagement/episode making it more satisfying to watch. Micheal probably didn't even give the animation team a hard time 'cause all they had to do was show him laying done on the nearest space rock shooting something in the distance and I forgot all about Luca but that just means he didn't get that much action like everyone else in Delta. But where Luca was useless 90% of the time the rest of Delta team should have way more relevance to the action scenes. Im kinda disappointed we didn't get to see any sort of Hayate and Mirage tag-teaming it like in the first intro and no doubt any scenes like that could do wonders for them as it would drive toy sales. Because if I didn't already like the color blue, or single head laser Valks, or that the 31J and 31C are an homage to Max and Milia I wouldn't have much interest in them. Missed opportunity there. They were trying in the battle for Ragna episode where they had Delta 05, 04, and 03 chasing down Keith practically in one shot, but where the hell was Arad in that whole battle, or Cassim and Herman, they couldve shown us a short scene of Arad keeping those two busy. We saw that the Twins were pretty much glued to the Sigur Valens protecting it and Bouge was doing what he does best, but they always leave out Arad and Mirage and the two old guys from the AK. I bet a real choreographed dogfight showcasing those any of them would be pretty awesome. There is so much potential in this series but I feel none of it is ever going to be utilized effectively. All I can do is hope to Lord Kawamori I'm wrong.
  4. Well I can't say for the an in universe explanation but after testing various configurations of Valkyries in Kerbal Space Program I can say the canting of the main wings on a VF gives it a greater degree of horizontal stability at medium to extremely high speeds and also shifts the the center of lift quite a bit. On a VF-31 it shifts it quite aways forward giving it a more dart like performance. Well my Valks in KSP don't have none of that fancy Active Flow Control or whatever sort of aerodynamic trickery they have in the show so they rely on pure thrust and aerodynamics and sometimes very powerful but unbalanced RCS thrusters to get the job done so my answer may not be the best.
  5. I feel for the Windermerians, I really do. A couple of years is nothing for us "Earthers" who could potentially live all the way up to 100 but for a Windermerian it's a great big chunk of their short lives. That little exchange between Hayate and Freyja last episode behind the concert hall was like a chick with cerebral palsy wondering to the guy she admires how long it'll take to get to the nearest grocery store and the guy replying "Oh, just few minutes if you jog."
  6. Thanks! Its a pretty fun game and yeah putting together planes really became whole lot easier in these last couple of updates. A couple of years ago what used to take me almost two weeks to put together, an aircraft that I was somewhat satisfied with that vaguely resembled what I was trying to make and in the end flew like crap, now takes me around two-ish hours to complete and the vanilla physics have improved so much that aircraft actually fly like they are supposed to. Mods also help alot.
  7. Here's a YF-21 flying in formation with a VF-11B with the twin rocket boosters attached. I gave each of them their correct Thrust-to-weight ratio so when I put the YF-21 on full throttle the VF-11 with the boosters engaed was left behind struggling to keep the 21 in view just like the OVA.
  8. According to Freyja in ep17 Windies dont get wrinkles just flaky.
  9. Y'know I feel really sorry for the dude who has to shovel the base every 3 minutes because does it ever stop snowing on Windermere?!
  10. If its anything like the 1/72 version the doors split in two lengthwise and slide into the nose so there can't be a door in front of the strut. Maybe the top half of the gear is plastic and they'll paint it for the production models, unless this is production ready and in that case its just lazy. These are the guys who didn't even bother painting the intakes on the VF-25G and RVF-25 afterall.
  11. 22, so I'm still out there fighting alongside my Var buddies.
  12. So the Sv-52 Oryol has upgraded VF-17D engines but the output of the VF-19ACTIVE wasn't really disclosed so I'm going to guess its not as powerful as Basara's VF-19kai. Was the 19Kai the most powerful 4th gen VF before the 19ADVANCE?
  13. Does anybody know if there was ever official specs on the VF-19 ACTIVE NOTHUNG and the Sv-52y Oryol or any of the Macross R VF's? And if not, is it safe to say they are on par with the VF-19 ADVANCE at least in terms of speed? Or Perhaps the VF-19Kai is a closer match?
  14. You're point does still stand, what I'm trying to get at is the VF-27 and the YF-29 are so capable in Battroid because they have an extra pair of engines, whether they can rotate or not. Having more punch than what two VF-171's can deliver strapped to your back aiding in your balancing and maneuvering gives it an advantage over conventional twin engined VF's that it would be a really tall order for most pilots to fight the battroid fight in atmosphere against a quad-engined VF. If you're willing and not able you're a dead man, If you're not willing but able you're a smart man, if you're both willing and able you're crazy, but that's what it takes to be the best. I really think its the hardware that Delta Platoon uses and the type of engagements that the Aerial Knights initiates (and the time and budget) that prevent us from getting in atmosphere battroid action. In the past a switch to B mode in the air was a commitment to go all in for that one fight, but the AK are fighting the long war and cant afford to trade shots in B mode. Delta Platoon don't really have too much of a reason to transform to take a few more moments to line up a shot when presumably their opponents should be just as capable of dodging and evading said shots no matter the mode their in. We've seen just how capable Alpha or Beta mooks in their 31A's are in B mode, they were next to stationary and missed every shot at Bouge when he went for Walkure on Ragna. Though we should expect Delta to be better in that regard, probably. I just dont think we are going to see that level of fight till the climax of the series when all the chips are on the table. I hope to Lord Kawamori that I'm wrong.
  15. You also have to take into account that Alto's YF-29 is arguably THE most capable combat Valkyrie we've seen yet, its immense power-to-weight ratio is far above even that of Brera's VF-27ySP with the QF-5100 Goblin bolted onto it. It took everything Brera, an enhanced cyborg, had to fight the the 29. While Delta Platoon's VF-31's are lighter than the 29, not by much, they are hugely underpowered when compared to the Durandal and given that the 31's don't have wing/back mounted engines as immensely powerful as the 29 they dont have the mid-air adjustability performance as it or the 27 either. So I kinda understand why they don't use Battroid in the air all that much given the hardware they are using. Also Alto didn't utilize B mode in his first air battle with Brera in the tv series but instead it was the 27 who was able to when the 25 more comparable to the 31 could not. And I also think that comparing the ending set piece of a movie with a movie budget to a series that is airing on tv is a little unfair. Though when the eventual Delta movie does come out a few years from now SK and co. don't have any excuses to not give us the same level of epicness that was that final fight between Alto and Brera in the last movie.
  16. While I agree that we should most definitely see more atmospheric transformations I feel in the context of Alto's and Brera's dogfight at the end of the movie it was mostly a one-on-one engagement without too much worry of taking fire from other sources. I feel there aren't enough really good pilots who can pull off what Alto did and an average pilot could barely dodge attacks from one enemy but if he transforms while outnumbered that could put an average pilot in really hot water because the chances of being surrounded are high and good luck trying to dodge every bullet and missile headed your way. Though you can definitely argue that Delta Platoon shouldn't be just average pilots who can barely fly their way out of a paper bag but a group of respected aces who can pull off at least a fraction of what Alto did in the movie. We know they have the skill for it and Hayate already demonstrated he can be an absolute badass in Battroid mode we just aren't seeing any of it lately. And hell yeah I wanna see some blistering paced, mode changing, close range action of a true Valk on Valk engagement, but I feel they bit off more than they can chew with how many characters they have fighting in the same space at once. Because the moment one of them goes Battroid it should become an all out brawl with fire coming from all directions maybe some robot fisticuffs as they wrestle each other in midair trying to rip each others wings off. And who knows maybe they'll run out of replacement arms for Hayate and instead give him duel flip out arm mounted blades kinda like a 27.
  17. If Guld is/was still alive you betcha he would've requested the same treatment Isamu got with his VF-19 ADVANCE on a VF-22. Or he could've ended up flying a VF-27.
  18. Just how fast are post SDF Macross dogfights? 'cause I've been playing around with some of my Valkyrie replicas over at Kerbal Space Program and gave them damn near their actual performances with the exception of stuff like the Flow vector control or something like it which releases gas over the airframe to help aid aero. I gave them almost their exact power-to-weight ratios and I'm just taking a educated guess at their center-of-mass vs center-of-lift but they have to be near aligned with another to give them their ability to pull cobras at mach speed and change directions near instantaneously and after finally figuring out a way of preventing the wings ripping off during Mach2+ maneuvers I have to ask, at what speeds do the dogfights happen at in each series? Especially from Frontier and Delta, cause I've flown replicas (in KSP) of the YF-29 and the VF-31 and only 25g's of inertia dampening isnt a whole lot when considering the replicas Ive made with near exact power-to-weight ratios hit acceleration G's approaching 20g's from around a cruising speed of 325m/s to full 2000kn+ throttle and a maneuver at full throttle I'm recording G's breaking through past the 100g's mark. Though how they fly at full throttle certainly looks like the show especially when they're all glowing golden and flying past their limits like Alto's 29 and Messer and Hayate's 31 with near instant vector changes and the look of zigzagging across the sky but are they really only pulling 20+ G's in the show or should I just overlook it?
