  1. Timely, as I've just started de-yellowing an old Transformers G1 Jetfire. I've been using hydrogen-peroxide 3% + oxi-clean powder. The internet is all over the place on different things to try. Things to note: * You need UV to activate it, so leave it outside. * glass blocks UV...:\ (I've been using a freezer bag) * Anything higher than 6% hydrogen peroxide you should use gloves with. * the paint on my jetfire's chest plate has completely washed off, even in 3%, but perhaps this is a function of the oxi-clean instead. :\ * Supposedly, you need to disassemble as this can cause the metal screws to corrode. It is working, but slowly. My main problem has been finding anything close to "do exactly this and it will work". Some say it needs to be submerged, others say the peroxide evaporating will whiten unsubmerged parts. I've heard anywhere from 1/2 tsp to 1 tablespoon of oxiclean per bottle, or per 50ml (9 per normal sized bottle). If anyone has any more detailed instructions, I'm all ears. I've left it out for about 1 1/2 weeks so far, and it has gone from a yellow to a creme off white. Still leaving it out there to see if I can get to bone white, as I'm pretty much committed to repainting the other parts anyways at this point.

    Macross VR

Not Macross IP - but Airmech Command is a VR RTS that you can pilot around a transforming plane. http://store.steampowered.com/app/364630/AirMech_Command/

    Hi-Metal R

Doh, looks like I missed out on this. How hard are these to find once they are released generally? Or are they like their big brothers where you have exactly 1 hour to order the thing and then it's only available at scalper prices?
  4. With the US Dollar and Bandai making cheaper valks it is a bit easier than it was a few years ago towards the end of Yamato and a weak dollar. All that said - jesus is the new series absolutely horrible. I agree completely with you that Macross was a war saga that had a backdrop of singing. I accepted the "aliens affected by song" the first time, because, okay sure. But once that started becoming a critical core of the series I think they lost the plot. I HATED Basara, and the new series, there is literally no one I like. I have no reason to root for the protagonist (I don't even remember his name). He's a pacifist that goes into the military, and immediately is able to hang and best some of their ace pilots. There is no struggle, nothing I can relate to. It seems highly tailored to a group of fans of macross that I'm not part of. All of that said, I generally love the jet designs of Macross in general. I too have been very critical, especially of Yamato, for selling $300 figures that break out of the box. For $300 this should not be a statue. It is frakking designed to be transformed. I'm not manhandling these things in any way, but the tolerances on them were so tight that they couldn't help but break. I think in recent years the valks have gotten a lot better in that department by Arcadia and Bandai. I do sympathize with you though. It is an expensive hobby, and with a series as weak as Delta its easy to ask the question about what you are doing with your time/money. I say just don't sweat it too much and come back maybe for the next series. Hopefully they'll pull their head out of their ass and give the other fans the war epic the loved from the original.
  5. I'd buy a KO. I buy tons of first party stuff. I feel like I've compensated them plenty. But I also feel like I have to put on my delicate gloves for fear of breaking my multi-hundred dollar toy. With a KO, if it is cheap enough, and doesn't hide the fact that it is a KO, and it hits the quality bar, I can take that, and display it at work, and not worry too much if it falls down or breaks. The MP Transformer KOs are great for having just around the desk. Yeah, their manufacturing tolerances aren't great, but they look the part if you don't look at them too closely, and they costs 1/2 to 1/3 of the price (or less, even). So if I could have a valk that looked like a 10 year old Yamato that wasn't terribly fragile, I'd do that as I have already paid Yamato/Arcadia 2-6 times for their mold to begin with. I wouldn't want to be first in line for these things, but if someone gave the greenlight that they wouldn't crumble upon site, I'd consider it for the right price.
  6. Got VF-31F and a Spartan at Amiami...going to sleep...I bet if Prince were to resurrect and throw a one night only concert, the tickets would be easier to get...good luck all.
  7. Bandai's preorder madness is so stupid...they already know how many the VF-31J sold, so they can change their production run accordingly. This is ridiculous....
  8. Finally got one. Thanks all for the updates on when they were available! Now I need a 31S and a 31Ax2 and I'll be good on this mold.
  9. Yeah, some of my transformer collection got into the shot. The cars in the bottom right are the BinalTech/Alternator line - IMO really close to the best transformer line ever made (right behind Masterpiece). There is more stuff that is sort of covered up. On the floor, you can see all the bandai stuff stacked on top of some destroid boxes. Well, next to those are many Yamato era 1/60 and 1/48 toys. My toy collection has grown rather large...that is maybe representative of 1/4 of the stuff I have. I'm simultaneously proud and embarrassed about that fact.
  10. oh - haha - sorry - sometimes my joke detector is broken/stuck. Also my annoyance at the way Bandai conducts their pre-orders probably made me not pick up on the joke. I've never had a problem eventually getting their stuff at retail prices, but I hate how they artificially limit supply to create this "5 minute window" of preorder madness. Ideally, preorders should be telling them how many to produce. Arcadia doesn't have this problem, nor do a lot of other companies, so I can only assume it is the way they are conducting business.
  11. Because I don't care that much about getting this particular version. I'd rather wait and get one of the repaints for $100 cheaper. The mold/transformation is more interesting to me. I'm not even sure this is my favorite color scheme. And there is a solid chance the later versions have minor issues fixed. So while I would pick one up if I could, I'm reluctant to pay more than I should based on pre-order frenzy.
  12. I still need to preorder. I wasn't going to participate in the normal Bandai pre-order artificial supply limitation chaos when there are going to be 6 repaints of this mold. That said, if I see any place is still selling them at a reasonable price, I'll pick one up. Yes Asia is damn near $100 over retail, so that feels like a no go. Let me know if any pop up somewhere.
  13. Does anyone wish the main wings were angled down a bit? When I first saw it, I thought it might have a slight X-Wing type look that I thought would be cool. Instead, it is more like a VF-19 with huge fins at the top. I'm still liking it, but I thought a slight X-Wing vibe could be really cool and different for a valk. Feels like a missed opportunity.
  14. "However, that is why you go here to MWF and become a member to find out if the valk you saw somewhere is worth your purchase and/or the headaches/heartaches. " That works if you are searching for something on sale or long after the fact on ebay. But with the wide swings in availability, I never know what is going to become rare and even more ludicrous/plaid-speed expensive, or what will become common, so in general, I pick up at least one on initial release. I know I wouldn't have a VF-4 if i hadn't just preordered it from the get-go. I've even thought about selling it a few times just because the mark up is so high on it. But then I wouldn't have a VF-4. That's why I still feel justified in complaining when my expensive $300+ valk breaks. (Though to be honest, nowadays, I don't usually transform them until I can score another one on sale, or they've released a version 2, so that I know I have more opportunity to purchase the same/improved valk should breakage occur) Yes, I realize the psychosis of the above statement.
  15. I own several hundred transformers, most of the MP line (many I own 2 of), including one Takara MP-09 and a Hasbro Rodimus, all the Soundwave cassettes, and the only one that has had a small part break (that was not essential for transformation) was Megatron ( I accidentally broke a tab off when I didn't know what I was doing - however it still transforms fine). Of the several hundred deluxe-class transformers I own, I think I've had 2 break (these are $15 toys mind you) I have probably a couple dozen Macross related items (mostly Yamato, but some Bandai as well), and off the top of my head I have a 1/60 YF-19 sitting next to me with a cracked fuselage and comes apart at the waist, I have a 1/72 YF-21 with a broken arm, another 1/72 VF-11B with a broken leg. I will admit that Yamato/Arcadia have gotten better in recent years, but you still hear stories of cracked shoulders, cracked hips, floppy joints (SV-51) etc from what I'm guessing is very gentle usage from members here. There is even a forum post somewhere on here that lists which Macross items are "safe" to buy. I'm more careful with my expensive yamato purchases than I am my takara/hasbro stuff and they STILL break more frequently. I usually don't get into this on these topics, because this is such a pro-Yamato board, but there is just no comparison in the quality, from what I've seen. From a line art perspective, paint app, and elegance, sure, Yamato all the way. But if you want something that is less likely to break, Takara/Hasbro by a long shot. (and personally, I even prefer Bandai over Yamato from a "will this thing break" perspective, Bandai just makes it hard to buy their stuff. T_T ) Don't take this wrong. I actually love my macross collection even more than my transformer collection. I like Macross better in general. It's why I spend stupid absurd amounts of money on a toy that has a high likelihood of breaking on its first transformation. But don't think for a second it doesn't piss me off that that is several hundred dollars down the drain when a toy breaks. Which probably explains my outrage when they do break.
  16. I have rarely (ever?) had a Masterpiece Hasbro/Takara break on me. I have had many yamatos break on me. It seems that some people talk about QA and go directly to nitpicking about color shades or small imperfection and compare that to having an entire limb break off and the toy being unusable as equivalent QA issues. Yamatos/Arcadia are some nice pieces of art, but every single one of them I'm afraid of touching because of their fragility and their price. I have no such fear with the Takara/Hasbro Masterpieces because they are simply more durable and cheaper. At this point I consider a Yamato a nice painted model that is slightly more durable than a model. Takara/Hasbro can actually take a fair amount of abuse.
  17. I'm not even into legos, but I'd be in for a set like this. Contacting the builder and asking for a parts list and instructions is probably the only way we are going to see this in our own homes though.
  18. Hey all, I thought you guys would get a kick out of this. This is a hologram of one of the Yamato 1/200 YF-19 figures. It is actually a reflection hologram, but it is so big that for the plate I have, if you look at it in sunlight, you can pretty much only make out his legs. This is the best picture I've got of him, shining under the original laser that made the hologram. Thought I'd share.
  19. No - it's hong kong dollars - about $160 + s/h in US dollars https://www.google.com/#sclient=psy-ab&q=1%2C239+hong+kong+dollars+to+us+dollars&oq=1%2C239+hong+kong+dollars+to+us+dollars&gs_l=hp.3..33i21.578.16107.0.16265.41.37.4.0.0.0.243.4804.11j20j5.36.0....0...1c.1.19.psy-ab.qYHUSdMLMQo&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.48705608,d.cGE&fp=c30bd787055d051&biw=1061&bih=850
  20. Stealth Bomber? You probably want this: http://www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/2011/vf17s_diamond_force_color If you can find one.
  21. Here is the link to the Kickstarter if you guys are interested: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rrpgt/robotech-rpg-tacticstm?ref=live I didn't see any other thread on this, though I might have missed it. I'm tempted, but I'll wait until it is done and reviewed. If it is good, I'll try to find one for sale, if not, so be it.
  22. I couldn't find the YF-19 thread - so I'm asking here - What would a 1/60 YF-19 (first-version) with a broken arm go for on Ebay (has box, instructions, no stickers applied, everything else seems to be okay)? I know it is basically going to be for parts. I'm trying to decide if I should sell it or just keep it in my junk toys pile and trash the box.
  23. The problem I have with a lot of these transforming toys is some parts you need to be very gentle with, but other parts you must force or apply a fair amount of pressure to, or it won't move/go into place. I was transforming my VF-17 yesterday as well, back into fighter mode, and I was trying to lock the chest plate back in flush with the nose cone. After looking and moving parts around, I consulted the manual, and it didn't seem like there was anything to do other than push it in. :S I did it, but it scared the crap out of me. Luckily everything seems to be in place. It's also bad that Transformers tend to be really sturdy. I've only had one transformer in recent memory that broke unexpectedly. Anything else that broke was from childhood after lots and lots of play. So going from those to these "art pieces" is sort of a mental switch.
