  1. Bandai is dumb. When your pre orders sale out in seconds you are leaving money on the table. It's enough to put people off collecting these things.
  2. In my head-canon, I see the SD valks as little one person asteroid mining utility vehicles that can transform using the same technology of the giant war machines they look like.
  3. I think China is starting to crack down on their flagrant IP violations. Apparently the US was a strong violator as well until we started producing our own IP then suddenly we started frowning on such theft. China looks like it is following the same path. https://newsroom.hasbro.com/news-releases/news-release-details/hasbro-trademark-rights-upheld-criminal-case-involving So my current guess is that KOs in China will likely be okay for the near term future, but will become increasingly difficult to make in the intermediate to the long term as China continues to grow in power and more companies win lawsuits like this over there.

Just got mine from AmiAmi. I did SAL (registered) which comes with tracking...do you know if AmiAmi lets you change the shipping when the product arrives before you pay? It's always annoying that they give you 8 or so options but no indication of the expected shipping costs. I don't really care if I get the preorder I've waited months for in a few weeks as opposed to a few days, but I do want tracking. I also don't want to pay the price of the toy in shipping.
  6. I have a number of TF KOs (a dozen or two maybe) and I have probably another dozen figma, and I can not say any of them are superior to the original. All of them have obvious signs of being cheaply made. That said the quality on them is still really good. On Transformers, usually you get wheels that don't quiet spin well or are lower than they should be. Otherwise it is fine. The figmas usually have joint problems being somewhat looser or tighter or they used a different type of paint. But the satisfying thing about the figmas is most of the problems are easily fixable. Put a bit of nail polish on a loose joint, and it is as good as new. Tight joints are trickier. I had one Wolverine figma who had a hip joint that would not move. It was like it was glued. I finally popped it off, and saw that the yellow paint had not dried properly. A bit of acetone, put it back together, and he is as good as new.

Also, note that Nippon-Yasan was the one that took preorders for the VF-31A and when they were unable to acquire stock have simply left people hanging, for months now, not offering a refund, only store credit. Many many people have still not received their items. I would avoid N-Y.
  8. I don't know if I was counted in there, but I got my 2, 31As months later. I also had been pretty persistent with them on email. I won't be doing business with them again. The irony is that I offered to reduce down to 1 if that meant I would be more certain of getting 1 and refund the remaining amount, and they steadfastly refused to do so.

I've sworn off NY after the VF-31A fiasco - do I have to worry that AE will be the same? Or do people just not like paying up front is the main complaint?

Got one at AE just now as I forgot to set my alarm last night...jesus...I still do not understand the business model of making these things and producing just enough that they are only available for a few hours. It just screams of leaving money on the table. The only thing I can think of is that they have to order in large increments, so they can produce 5000 units, there is demand for 8000, but the only next increment they can produce is 10,000 which would leave them in the hole. Still it is enough to make me seriously question why I collect these...
  11. I really like KOs. I usually have 1-2 original items, but I'll buy a KO for stuff I want to leave around the office, or let kids hold/play with. BUT, they have to be in a certain price range that I consider reasonable for a KO product. Feels like lately I see KOs inching closer and closer to the price of the real item (mostly speaking of Transformers), which, in that case, no thanks, I'll just buy the higher quality original for a few bucks more. Generally my rule of thumb is it needs to be less than half, and preferably closer to 1/3rd to 1/4th the original price to be interesting to me. In this case we have it at $130 for an old broken mold Arcadia KO vs $170 for a brand new state of the art Bandai Chogokin (yeah, I realize it's not the _exact_ same mold, but for $40 more I can get a state of the art original). I'd love to see these in the $50-$80 range, and understand first mover risk/advantage, but yeah above $100 and these become unappealing.
  12. So is this the only place to get these? https://showzstore.com/valkyrie-factory-1-60-vf-1s-arcadia-compatible_p0290.html $50 - $80 shipped I'd do it, but at $130, it seems a bit steep for a KO. Is there a better place to get it?
  13. 35th Anniversary wouldn't look half bad if it weren't all the text graffiti littering it up.
  14. Wasn't the VF-31A an exclusive? Still smarting from that one...heh
  15. Check check - I'll keep that in mind for the inevitable remolds/repaints that follow. I sort of wish they would open up preorders and produce based on the number of preorders given instead of setting a set number of units they are going to produce. I'm sure they have financial reasons why they do it this way.
  16. I way missed the boat on this. I'll pick it up when the inevitable VF-1A/VF-1S is released. Was the preorder the typical bandai madness of 5 minute window then sold out, or did they provide enough stock this time?
  17. I believe it was this site: http://nvolz.com/Jetfire.htm However, it now just returns a 404.
  18. Just reading some of the responses here from my last post. Yeah, I'm pretty much done with NY. I got my order, but their customer service was so bad I don't want to deal with them again. Here's the kicker - early on, I offered to reduce down to a single order if they would refund the difference and it would make it more likely for me to get one and to help them get more units out to those single unit purchasers. All they responded with was it was impossible to refund because it had been too long, and cancellation would blacklist my account.
  19. Just got my 2 VF-31As from NY yesterday for anyone keeping track. Order# 488782
  20. Has NY at least updated their policy to indicate that if you give them money they will try really hard to get a product, but delivery is not guaranteed? But you will need to pay up front?
  21. I guess we are still waiting on the VF-31A. Trying to decide at what point I cancel via credit card. I heard May was supposed to get more stock, then June. I guess I'll give it until the end of June then contest.
  22. I haven't been checking this, are we still thinking that mid-May more stock will become available? Or is that now wishful thinking? I thought the whole point of TWE was to get an exact count of how many needed to be produced, therefore these types of problems wouldn't happen...sigh...
  23. I'm assuming this went on sale last night? And by the time I check this in the morning it is sold out practically everywhere (save Loopaza which I don't know their reputation above). I think your definition of "easy" has been normalized. I'm okay with it, because I don't really need another 19 (I have several from Yamato). If after it comes out the reviews are good I might pick it up after the fact, but I'm okay if I missed out. However if I wanted to get one right now, my choices are very limited. To me, easy would be the preorder is open for a few weeks before closing down and anyone that wants one doesn't have to get up at 4AM and rapidly hit refresh in order to secure one (and then see NY not deliver - not bitter, no not at all))
  24. I'm 488782 for the order number, ordered 2, and I've heard nothing from NY. Hoping May they get their stock and this is just bandai's Fault
