Macross Frontier Movie 2 thread - Now available on Blu-ray/DVD
Marzan replied to Tochiro's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Wow, that's really cutting it close, isn't it? Finishing a movie 12 days before a premiere. Wow! Very exciting. I am as always immensely jealous of all those who'll be able to see this on the big screen. -
Reading the article I can't help but feeling that they'll end up making a terrible film.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v3.0

Already got the sidestory dvd's i hand so I have little choice but to watch them first. Will watch F91 and Victory for sure though. It's definitely in the pipeline. -
That's the most probable outcome for sure!

Nice writeup Pete. Yeah, Grabil and the song energy component of this chapter drive the "fantastic" aspect in Macross 7 into overdrive. A huge monster that seems straight out a Godzilla movie, that can shoot Macross Cannon like pentagramic rays out of his tail, is definitely new territory for Macross. Not to mention that Basara and Mylene's combined song energy output can match it's power. I wonder if Dr. Chiba's explanation of 'song energy' is at least partly based on some sort of hard science, or if it's just pure mumbo jumbo. In any case, his Lynn Minmei fanboyism is second to none. I found his little dance moves were rather hilarious. He, he...Basara got a cameo in your HS story! I wonder what Yuki Nagato makes of that.

Well after doing Gundam ZZ I had to continue, didn't I, so I got round to watchin Char's Counterattack and I can definitely see why so many people can like it, while at the same time, many others don't. The animation was absolutely gorgeous considering this is from 1988. And the battle scenes are just incredible. You really do experience mobile suit combat in a different way than one did in the original series and even Zeta. The story was not as good as I expected though. . As a latecomer and total novice to Gundam I have to say that so far Zeta is still the Gundam I like best. Now I'll check out the other UC side stories (8th MZ, War in Pocket and Stardust Memory). -
LOL. It's exactly the kind of title you'd expect from a Mel Brooks sequel

Any other "Thing" fans out there?

Wow, working in a movie directed by Guillermo del Toro based on a story by Lovecraft. That's just every geek's dream:) Congrats on the hire! -
Nice. This the same peeps who did the music to Paradise Kiss?

Finished watching Gundam ZZ. I guess it's one of those things were if you have really low expectations, you won't get as dissapointed and viceversa. As I had been warned, the first third of the series was dismal, but then things got much better (more the Gundam one comes to expect basically) as the story moves on. Wouldn't watch it again, but ZZ served its purpose since now I can finally watch Char's Counterattack. -

Elfen Lied is one of the few cases were I enjoyed the anime more than the original manga. Brutal study into how cruel children can be. The ending is left somewhat open, yeah, but I didn't think that was too much of a bad thing. -
Come on, there must have been some other episodes that you enjoyed at some other level? I mean it's one thing to sit through a movie or a 6 episode OVA one doesn't enjoy, but to sit through a 49 episode series one dislikes without getting something out of it seems a bit far fetched.

Little Ranka and Brera is really cute. And I love the DYRL Minmay.

It's Ridley Scott so it's going to be o.k at least. I cannot imagine him doing and AVP style trainwreck. Plus I think the cast looks interesting. -

Started watching ZZ and yeah, it's like WTF? It's hard to believe that it's the same director working on it straight after Zeta. I appreciate all your comments. I don't think I would have continued without knowing that things get better further than down the line. I'd been afraid to read ZZ reviews because there's so many spoilers in reviews I've read in days past. -
I'm speechless! Why would you want a sequel of Conair? http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/news/a300004/director-wants-con-air-sequel.html

Finished watching Gundam Zeta yesterday. Did a mini marathon with the last 4 chapters. All I can say is wow! What an ending! Might check out Gundam ZZ now. -
Somehow I think that Eno's music is actually better off without a clip. Less distractions
-
Pretty nice. The first piece definitely reminded me a bit of some of Brian Eno's stuff.

I agree that the PKC was a bit over the top. Specially considering that LOGH tries from the very beginning to avoid a manichean view of history.

After watching TRON Legacy I just had to go out and buy the awesome soundtrack by Daft Punk which I'm listening to right now. Speaking of which, I love their cameo in the movie.

That's why I think Adrien Brody would probably be a better fit for the part. But it seems that if CB gets made at all, Keanu it will be.

Favorite VF pilot? (not necessarily the best)

Isamu. The combination of madness with the stick and a insubordinate attitude make him a joy to behold. Max comes a close second because of his unbelievable skill. -
Glad to see that you came back to review episode 26 which I agree is one of the best of the series. I think that most people who dislike Macross 7 (but like other Macross') might think a bit differently if they could be persuaded to get this far. I think the sight of a destroyed Macross 5 fleet, really gives the viewer a sense of dread which is missing previously. And despite Gepelnitch's unmasking, we still really dont know what happened to the Macross 5 fleet and what the Protodeviln have in store for 7.
