  1. There's 2 non Macross endings that come to mind immediately, and again its all about the music for me. "Lithium Flower" from GITS Stand Alone Complex. Yoko Kanno can write great songs in almost any genre. This is no exception. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPtG12pmwrI "Gypsy" from Super Dimension Century Orguss. I love this song!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wb8Y1gLqsN8&feature=related
  2. I think Tank from Cowboy Bebop is probably the single coolest opening out there, but here are a couple others that I like: "Tell me Why" from Berserk. I just find it such a huge contrast to the actual tone and content of the series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZXrnFC-gi0 And I have a weak spot for all things Patlabor so "Mirai Wa Lovers" sung by Hiroko Kasahara (who's Ishtar in Macross II) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ei6W-bY5WU&playnext=1&list=PLD6A5C89A2C443ACC
  3. That's pretty good stuff. Paranoid Android is a really tough song to cover.
  4. Gunbuster's episode 6 is in my view, one of the most moving and stunning thing's I've ever watched. I'm sure you'll enjoy it... As far as Diebuster is concerned, it is actually available in Europe in both DVD and bluray. I have to say that even though its pretty good, it just didn't blow me away the way Gunbuster did
  5. wow jvmacross. I'm just in total awe of your collection! You got some amazing stuff. I've started a very modest collection myself. Been a bit wary of being scammed so I'm very cautious until I learn more about collection cels.
  6. Porco Rosso is also one of fave Miyazaki films. Just made me want to learn to pilot a plane. Have been catching up to Record of Lodoss War. Hadn't seen it since my bro lent me his VHS tapes back in the day. Not too shabby. I have to say that even though it's aged a bit, the character designs are absolutely amazing. Just beautiful. The animation is a bit on the lazy side though, but with some of those visuals, you really don't notice it too much.
  7. +1 on the HBO series. Now those guys know how to do things right. The Keifer version was pretty poor. I could never picture the guys on the screen as the guys from the novel. I mean Charlie Sheen as Aramis?
  8. Wow. Love to see the Itano circus in slow motion. Thanks for highlighting the link.
  9. +1 But i think that's really optimistic too.
  10. Those truly are a piece of anime history. All in all that library just seems like an awesome place.
  11. I have a very guilty conscience since I actually enjoyed Bloodsport back in the day No news on cast though. It's gonna be hard to top JCVD's ouuttrageeoouus acccentt....
  12. My thoughts exactly. These kinds of movies now all look the same to me. Might watch it one day when it's on tv. Maybe.
  13. My Wings dvd does look amazing but I haven't had the chance to see it in bluray so I can't really say. Don't you think though that if DYRL ever get's done in BD, the people in charge would make sure that it looks the part?
  14. Macross DYRL on bluray would be amazing and definitely worth the high pricetag it would be bound to receive. 3D...not so much...I just don't see it.
  15. Had my brother visiting me over the weekend and we had a little nostalgia Berserk marathon. I had almost forgotten what an intense series this was! And the manga still rolls on, huh? I think this baby will still be going strong when we are bunch of pensioners
  16. That is very cool indeed... I imagine that the winner will have to spend a pretty penny to win. Let's hope he/she has machine that is worth Tenjin's time and talents.
  17. It seems that somehow anytime there's a Hollywood adaption of an anime in the "works", Keanu get's mentioned by the media. But he'd be a terrible choice. He's a bad actor and about 20 years too old for the role.
  18. I lol'ed when I read that quote: "This was so much fun on the dancefloor at the time because you would get everybody doing John Hurt alien tummy eruptions!!"
  19. Ah, but I've already seen LOGH many times and it occupies a spot at the very top of my favourite anime together with SDFM and Eva. Good to see that many rate it that high. Having said that, I think that Senkai has actually some visual aspects that are superior to LOGH. Space combat, for example, is depicted in a more imaginative way than LOGH's sea-ships in space approach. Yeah, checked it out too. Have to say that I found it to be the weakest effort of the lot.
  20. Did a little marathon and finished Banner of the Stars 2 and 3. I have to say that I find this saga to be maybe one of the most underrated anime I've ever seen. Great stories, characterizations and dialogue. And a well accomplished and believable love story. One really does not see that too often.I can only imagine that had it come out a decade earlier it might have been a huge hit. A big thanks to all the folks who recommended Crest of the Stars. Would not have watched these jewels without the positive feedback I received.
  21. Only complaint is the 90 buck price tag!! But apparently Manga Entertainment licensed it in Europe and it should be available sometime in september.
  22. Been going to a film festival this past week and had the good fortune to catch 2 great anime films, Redline and King of Thorn. Watching anime on a big screen always adds that little bit extra to the experience. Redline in particular was absolutely, mind-bogglingly awesome. A very simple story, but the visuals, character designs and animation were extraordinary and the tempo of the film, relentless. It was a bit like Heavy Metal meets "Death Race meets Gurren Laggann with a bit of Cowboy Bebop and Tarantino added for good measure. I'm so buying the bluray when it comes out.
  23. Ok. I didn't know that Turn A had that kind of connotation. I kinda thought that it was something completely unrelated to the UC and all other timelines. Isn't it a standlalone series then? I'll check out if G is available.
