Unfortunately, the gloss finish that Bandai uses is also cheap compared to the gloss Yamatos IMO. @Mommar: Great pictures!

It's more like the Y/VF-19. Yes, the cockpit interior always rotates, except in those cases of aircraft cabins which are maintained horizontal, such as the VF-4 and VF-17.

No, judging by certain details and the fact that Roy explicitly mentions to Claudia that this is a VF-X. Unless the subtitles in my copy are completely wrong.

I don't get why some of you guys expected the Tenjin box art. It had never been announced nor even hinted. Yeah, the 30th anniversario one had it but that was just an exception and the cost was shared with Hasegawa.

I don't think so, the Yamato VF-19 line has that same piece and it's worked perfectly. My guess is it's something to do with the wings.
