  1. I have both (although the MPC Prime is the Takara version), and if I had a hard choice to make, I'd save up and buy both! Seriously, you might want to get the MPC Prime first, the proper lengths smokestacks second, and then the Yammie Escaflowne. Yes it's flawed (the Escaflowne), but it has a charm of its own. I like my Escaflowne.
  2. Thanks for the info! Well, I've sat on it, and while it is a good price for the three, I'm probably am not going to buy them. Again, thanks for your help everyone!
  3. I saw this: http://www.hlj.com/product/BNP42072 for sale at HLJ. I'm interested but I know nothing about the finished product. Yes it's by Banpresto, but to be fair, I can't compare them to the little transformable Valks done by Banpresto. It seems like a great deal, but I'm a little heasitant. Just looking for information on how good these figures are.
  4. Well, make that two people who like Enterprise (me! ). While I'm sad the show is going to go off the air in a little while, it has been getting better, story wise. Besides, Paramount shot themselves in the foot with Enterprise: Limited advertising, putting it on a (relatively) minor channel (UPN), putting sports on over Enterprise's time slot, and perhaps a hugely overinflated budget for the show. And now when the show is actually VERY good, nobody watches it. But still, managing to raise $3 million is impressive.
  5. Picked up Bulkhead at my local Toys R Us (still no new Alternators in Ottawa... Grrrrr). First thought when transformed (minus weapons pack): He looks VERY nice. With weapons pack installed: Holy cow that's some big guns. And he stands up! The artillery piece has 3 sounds in it. Guns ablazing (with lights! ), and two classic transformation sounds. All in all a very cool helecopter! Now Hasbro, where's my Tracks and every other alternator since Hound!!!
  6. Lokitorrent topic Some of you who may have donated to help Lokitorrent might want to read this...
  7. I mean "best" as in the voices don't want to make me drive sharp pointy things into my ears. Plus it sounds like the American VAs were having a heck of a lot of fun playing the cast in Castle of Cagliostro...
  8. I haven't picked up the disks yet (still doing comparison shopping, Wal-Mart or Costco...), so I really can't say. Hopefully by the end of the week, they'll be mine! But luckly there's the original Japanese soundtrack on the disk, so at least you have something else to listen to... Out of all my Miyazaki disks, Princess Mononoke and Castle of Cagliostro have the best English dubs, and Laputa: Castle in the Sky has the worst. Kiki's Delivery Service and Spirited Away fall into the normal catagory...
  9. Actually Sony had a similar problem with the cable on the Playstation. I'm a little fuzzy on the solution, but they offered a free replacement cable, and the newer Playstations came with the cable.

    Yamato yf-11B

Well, I never had the... enjoyment of owning an original VF-11b, I did pick up a FAST pack VF-11b, and I'm a very happy customer. I've always assumed that I'd be bugged by the shoulder bars, but truthfully, they don't bother me at all. However, I do find myself wishing that Yamato came up with a better heat shield... At least they gave you two...
  11. You know what, you may be right. I wouldn't be surprised at all if MP-3 was a black Optimus Prime... Can't wait for some new alternators to come to Ottawa... I'm getting pretty peeved at all the Hounds and Silverstreaks I keep finding...
  12. I picked up a binaltech Grimlock not too long ago. Here's where I THINK the diecast is: Front and rear bumpers, doors, and the front side panels forward of the doors (with the raised GT logo on them). That's it, for Grimlock I think...
  13. Oh well, it's sad that it did happen... Honestly, I use torrents like a VCR. I watch the tv shows I miss due to work. And yes I do have a real VCR, but I can't record because other people are watching the TV at the same time as my show, so I'm being "diplomatic".
  14. Oh hey, you're from Ottawa too? Cool. No, this city is a wasteland when it comes to Alternators .....I have a feeling we'll get a repeat of what happened with Silverstreak, Hound, and DeadEnd - a few more months of nothing, and then BLAM!, 6 new alternators flooding shelves at the same time. Which is something I really hate, because it usually bankrupts me to buy them all at once That's what I'm figuring what's going to happen. I hate it when it does happen. Luckly, though, it has been good to me in the past, as I was able to get all three parts in one purchase for Rail Racer a few years back...
  15. Brit - "I claim India for Britain!" Indian - "You can't claim us, we live here!. 500 Million of us!." Brit - "Do you have a flag?" You have no idea how close you are to the truth... Colonialism is very complex (both politically, and psychologically), and I STILL can't figure most of it out, dispite the fact I took two seminars on the subject... But I must have gotten something right as I did get a B and a B-, and a whole pile of books that make your head spin....
  16. Wouldn't surprise me if it really did happen. Also, there's a bit of a financial reason for the "excessive" length. Most Indians don't make enough in a month to go and see one movie. So, to make it worthwhile to the audience to see the movie, film makers make the movie longer than "normal". Also, most Bollywood films tend to focus on the colonial period of India (with the Indians usually triumphing over the Brits in some way).
  17. I watched a few of them for an English seminar on post-colonial literature. My first impression was that they're overwhelming. So much colour, so much music and so long (but not that it's a bad thing). But yah, they're a very enjoyable bunch of movies.
  18. Alternators are sort of being restocked in Ottawa, but only the older releases, Hound, Silverstreak etc. Some of the newer Energon figures have come in though, so I suppose it isn't too bad. But I really really want to get some new alternators, I caved last week and picked up a Binaltech Grimlock. One cool figure.
  19. The 262 had a rather nasty bite of 4 30 mm Mk-108s. Not 20mms. Just a slight correction. Also, the 109, while not the best fighter of the war, was a formidable opponent if flown correctly. Personally, I don't think any of the American fighters were the best, I'd put my money on a Yak-3 or a La-7. The Russians had some awesome planes.
  20. Actually, this is currently season 4 of Enterprise. Overall, I've found that the show has improved greatly in the 3rd season (Lame ending notwithstanding), and so far is doing well (story wise) in the fourth. I'm hoping that it lasts at least another season. I've got to watch something else other than Mythbusters (not that it stinks, far from it, it's my favorite show).
  21. Hmm... Judging from what I've seen in the IL-2 series of gamesm, the P-38 will have a hell of a time trying to turn at high speeds due to compression issues that keep the elevator from working properly. The P-51, if going too fast, will find that the wings will have... separated from the body. It's a pretty equal fight, as long as nobody does anything stupid. The Corsair would have a nasty low speed advantage over the 51 and 38, seeing as it's designed to land on a carrier. Just make the sod overshoot, and then shoot him up with the 6 50s, or the 4 20mms (F4U-C version) But! A Spitfire Mk VIII will out manuver and out turn just about everything.
  22. Damnit! What the heck is up with Canada and the lack of the recent alternators?! All I see on the shelves at the local Wal-Mart are Hound, and Silverstreak! I'm just about ready to either complain to Hasbro Canada or Wal-Mart. Perhaps both...
  23. So far, the little probe has exceeded anybody's expectations. Mind you, I being the pessimist, thought that something might go wrong (ranging from it didn't work to the parachute not opening), but I'm quite happy to see what Titan looks like. Hope for colour pictures soon... So, next we send a rover to Titan? If so, we'll need to figure out a way to power the thing, as solar panels won't cut it. Would it be possible to have the rover use the atmosphere of Titan to power it? Some more info on Titan: http://www.solarviews.com/eng/titan.htm
  24. I have this kit, but I haven't built it yet. Posiblity is low. Hips, neck, shoulders, and ankles. That's it. Mine didn't come with any decals, so you'll need to paint the entire thing (as it's also moulded in one colour). Oh, and unless it comes with the magazine, there's no instructions, as they're in the accompanying magazine. Unless, of course, the seller was considerate enough to include a copy of the instructions with the kit.
  25. Funny, but brief story: Back in September of last year I was taking the "Harry Potter Class" (there's a proper name for it, but that's what everybody calls it) at Carleton University in Ottawa. Among the released works of Harry Potter, we study The Hobbit (like every other fantasy class), The Dark is Rising Sequence, Chronicles of Narnia (bought the big "one volume edition" ), and the Wizard of Earthsea. While we were discussing The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, one student mentioned her roommate thought that the book was a paganistic writing. Even when confronted and proved about the religious overtones in the book, her roommate still wouldn't believe the allegory in the book. Part of the class found it utterly stunning, and the other part (including me), found it utterly hilarious. Lots of fun course available at universities... Although, if you're taking a course in Children's Literature, be prepared to dish out the cash for the books. Mind you the books are rarely over $12, but when you got to pick up 20 books, it adds up rather quickly...
