Thanks Renato!....Until today, that book (among so many other great vintage Macross books) had been just another in my collection of cool macross "pic" books for the last 30 years!!! Thanks again for translating the interview.......it's a great way to celebrate the Macross 30th anniversary!

I don't read Japanese, but yes, I have collected the series up through the last collected volume (I also have all the Macross Ace issues) ...... Based on what you are describing and what I have seen, it seems like it is not a retelling of the original...but an alternate reality altogether (like the Star Trek reboot).....nothing wrong with that...right? As for Akira, never watched the anime or read the manga.......so the reference does not help me understand your comparison...... I am not collecting Newtype Ace, so I will need to wait until (hopefully) the next chapters are collected into a new volume. Until then, looking forward to your continuing observations/spoilers....... So, what you describe in your spoiler...was that the cliffhanger for the next issue?...If not, what was Hikaru's reaction and was it reported to Global/ SDF-1 science team? Like any good sci-fi story...........that type of knowledge seems to have repercussions...

So is MtF the new cannon? A device to bring it more in-line with the post-DYRL Macross universe (a universe filled with giant monsters, song energy weapons, and furry semi-sentient rodent buddies)?.... .....or simply just another ploy at taking our money! Speaking of taking our money..........where's Yamato with that MtF SDF-1 and VF-1J!!!!!!!!! Graham?

BTW....speaking of the 1/48 renewal versions of the Hikaru and Roy VF-1S.......do they still require decals to be placed for things like the UN Spacy kite symbols? Or have they been tampo printed? If tampo printed, I may be persuaded to pick one up from the current HLJ sale...seems like a good price and I never picked up a Hikaru VF-1S in 1/48 scale before........

1/48 TV-style cannon fodder would be nice (they already have the head for it).......maybe a re-paint TV-style angel bird 1/48 VF-1A...but that may also sit on shelves? Oh...and a VF-1A "U.N. Headquarters Guard" Valkyrie in 1/60..........may as well complete all the 1/60 VF-1 TV variants.........
