I'd like to see this one.... I think this background would work for it..... With thre exception of the Scout Regult....everything else can be posed and photoshop'd into it...
-
Yes...the problem was that guys with cool Macross toys and the willingness to pose them were a dime a dozen.....guys with your photoshop skills and the time to devote them to this project were...well, just you! Anyway...what was created was great, so hopefully more can be posted!

Was the "bad guy" question referring to mecha or characters? It's just 2 releases, but so far I think they do better figs than PT toys. Then again, the enemy mechs don't transform. As long as they can keep the various thrusters and cannons from popping off, they could be OK.

Hasn't that started already with other franchises. It's just a matter of time before Disney gets in on the action, especially since Disney seems to have some agreement to the Miyazaki film collection releases outside Japan. Visually, they could probably do a good job with Miyazaki's films. The fan project seems to show that the original visuals translate incredibly well into live-action. Something that I think Macross wouldn't without significant changes.

The only obvious thing, based on your pic and statement, was your lack of knowledge on the origins of power armors in the world of fiction. It was kind of funny to think someone thought power armors were a Japanese creation for anime. Funny but not at all surprising.

LOL.....Your pic includes various Iron Man creations....wasn't Iron Man a comicbook created by Americans in the 1960's? Did you forget about American author Robert A. Heinlein's 1959 novel Starship Troopers? "Remember when powered armor was strictly an American fiction thing?"

The Rebels did try and mount at least one other delay tactic seen on film and that was with their hopeless defense at the beginning of ANH. So there's that. After that, again, not sure what else they could have done, as they were outgunned and outnumbered. I don't think it matters to either the Empire, Vader, or the Rebels that they all know what is really happening. The Empire/Vader is 100% sure that they have the right ship with the "stolen plans"....the Rebels know they are caught and doomed. Given the circumstances and the certainty of the outcome for the crew, I do not see why continuing to "deny, deny, deny" would be any different than any other verbal delay tactics. Besides, what exactly did you want Capt. Antilles to say as he is being chocked to death by Vader? Vader was not in the mood for listening to anything other than the location of the DS plans. The guy took one for the team and stuck to the "we have no idea what you are talking about" plan. Again, there defense was shut down....their ship's captain was dead....they essentially had no other options other than what Leia ended up doing...and even then, that plan could have easily failed if that gunner would have blown the escape pod to smithereens. The ANH boarding/capture scene, pre-RO or post-RO, still works just fine because they weren't going to get away with it regardless of what was said or done. At that point, the rebel mission was simply to get the plans off the ship by all means necessary and that task was handed over to Leia....maybe because the Rebels hoped that her "protected status" as Senator/Princess may have shielded their ship somehow from being boarded/searched by the Empire in the first place?...which obviously proved wrong....perhaps it may have worked if the Empire followed some protocols regarding such things in the past....but that probably got all thrown out the door since Vader happened to be the one that witnessed the whole thing. Clearly the Rebels had not expected Vader to be involed in this particular operation. Again, only going by what I can see "on film"...this is how I can rationalize in my mind how things unfolded immediately between RO and ANH.

This one went high too...also won by a proxy bidder....via another bidding war Bid history Bidder / Ratings Price Quantity Bid time g*6*p*** / 27883 High bidder 134,000 yen 1 2019-05-06 13:31 0*r*e*** / 52169 133,000 yen 1 2019-05-13 00:00 SDFM TV Capt. There is a difference between a stable market price for anything...meaning an average price you should reasonably expect to pay for something....and outliers caused by bidding wars between 2 individuals....it is not like there were several folks willing to take these items to those absorbidant final auction prices...in fact, not all of them went that high... The one thing to take away from this is that you would be a fool to let someone convince you of the price for something based on a few crazy prices.... I do not see the consistency of these wild prices to be any indication of them being representative of the "current market"... Bidding wars cause these anomalies in pricing every now and then... Perhaps I am also at fault by simply pointing out only the "sensational" final auction values...the truth is there were also some cels and dougas that sold for fair market value....but those aren't as exciting to talk about I suppose...

One of those times where the losing bidder could be considered the actual winner..... SDFM - Hikaru/Misa douga.........110,890 JPY https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e354057063 g*6*p*** / 27883 High bidder 110,890 yen 1 2019-05-06 13:39 R*d*w*** / 35289 109,890 yen 1 2019-05-13 01:04 b*n*R*** / 146 33,000 yen 1 2019-05-12 23:11 3*l*l*** / 1344 31,000 yen 1 2019-05-12 23:07 So essentially the results of a bidding war between two proxy bidding fools.... The highest amount a, most likely, Japanese bidder was willing to spend on it was around 300 USD....a reasonable amount I guess one good thing about this is that for current cel collectors/owners.....the value of their collections can be expected to skyrocket? The bad news is the ability to continue to add to said collections keeps getting more expensive... I suppose another good thing is that it can probably be assumed that some of these sales went to folks that are not looking to resell....but then again, the flipside is that it will just embolden the likes of our ebay and local scumbag resellers to keep pillaging YJA for "treasures" to resell at triple the final auction prices on ebay...
