If anyone ever made some I'd buy a set in 1/48, 1/60 and 1/100 to dress-up my VF-1J's...

Saw these on BBTS.... Could be used to re-create this image.... But thinking it would cost less to go out and find some real rocks...LOL https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/123364 Lava rocks would probably look convincing.... https://www.walmart.com/ip/Black-Lava-Rock-3-5-Volcanic-Lava-Rock-for-Fire-Pits-Fireplaces-10-Pounds/889638146?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=12983&adid=22222222227277348166&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=334868008064&wl4=pla-646618970121&wl5=9021687&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=117446717&wl11=online&wl12=889638146&veh=sem&gclid=CjwKCAjw7LX0BRBiEiwA__gNwxd7a9XQIjPKcTmhnBJBf9dJ5QzpWDYySYUEvLyvrjUXFGZ7DDm4tRoCUgwQAvD_BwE

The GU-11 gunpods are quite versatile... They can be held and fired in any position!

Again, nice stuff! Here are the fanzines I was referring to.... Robotech - Guía Oficial De Episodios Y Personajes No. 1-4 covers every episode of the "Macross Saga" and also has various articles about the making of the show, character and mecha stats I also have a DYRL fanzine....says it is Index No. 3...so not sure what books came before it or after? It covers the movie, lots of stills and mecha lineart, etc Finally, I have a magazine called "Lazer" - Anime, Comics and The World's Corruption( ).....and in this issue they go over every Macross show that had been released to that point...so SDFM, M+, M7...and has some info regarding Macross gaming and other Macross merch... I can post some pics if you like or just check out my "Misc Macross book" gallery.... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/gallery/album/988-jvmacross-books-misc-macross-books/

Easy pass. I'd dip again if it were a legit DYRL version.

Upgrading a classic: yet another custom Bandai/Matchbox 1/3000 SDF-1
jvmacross replied to tekering's topic in The Workshop!
You left out one important thing (IMO) to your "Kept" list.....you kept the "toy" aesthetic....it looks like something that would come out of a Bandai box if they had ever decided to update the Takatoku mold...Amazing work! -

Product description on Amazon.jp: (google translation) A popular master file series that sharply cuts into the mechanism that appeared in the work under the theme of "specialized books published in the world of animation work". This time, it features the VF-1S, a variable fighter from the Super Dimension Fortress Macross, and the legendary pilot Roy Fokker. The VF-1 Valkyrie, the first practical variable fighter ever created by mankind in preparation for the coming interstellar war. The Variable Fighter Master File (VFMF) that handles this VF-1 has been published several times in the past, but in this book we will clarify the mechanism and system of VF-1 in more detail by re-verification. On the Macross return-to-earth voyage, the character of Roy Fokker, who led the Skull Battalion, was re-examined. He analyzed his background, his way of life, his skills as a pilot and his qualifications as a captain, and also explained what special capabilities the VF-1S, his favorite aircraft, had. You. VF-1 Valkyrie and Macross A special book that opens up new insights into the world They even admit that that the VF-1 has been visited and re-visited several times by this master files series. Maybe they will disclose that Focker's VF-1S was specially modified to perform better when he was inebriated!

Nice Macross fanzine, thanks for posting it. I think I also have a set of fanzines from Latin America, I don't think I have ever posted them. I'll try and find them and post when I get a chance.

Not sure what happened to the original post...but I saved it and here is what Major Tom wrote about it at the time when I originally posted the Takatoku Promo Posters back on February 25, 2012 (wow!)... Per Major Tom posted on MW April 1, 2012 (8 years ago!): OK, here's a brief history in Macross black VF-1J. Back in 97, I was visiting a friend in Japan. He took me on a tour of different cities and we met up with his other friend who use to work as an assistance at Studio Nue. He told me Takatoku request the drawings from Studio Nue so they can get an early build on the toys before the series hit the TV. Studio Nue send the color drawing that they have been working on to Takatoku to make prototypes. Big West haven't decided what color the hero of the show would be piloting at that time. When they saw the black VF-1J, they made the suggestion to Studio Nue that the hero valkyrie should look more heroic, so Studio Nue decided on the Japan flag color insted. My friend shows me the color drawing of black VF-1J that he saved from his former job. Just think, Hikaru would have been piloting the black VF-1J in his alternate life Here is a close-up of the "custom" VF-1 toys...

I would get them at $20 each.....at $55, I am able to see through the nostalgic haze and remind myself that I already have the original 1/100 Takatoku Toys with the boxes Toynami is trying to emulate.... I was able to "rationalize" the Toynami 1/100 retro box sets to myself because Takatoku Toys never released any of the combo sets at 1/100 scale...
-
Takatoku promoted their "Super Real 1/55 die-cast plastic scale model & high technology" toys as "customizable" just like model kits. The poster shows several "custom" possibilities....including the one you are inquiring about, which to me seems like a "Cavaliers" squadron sample. Others shown include a TV Max-1A, and even a VF-1D, the possibilities were endless...or at least limited by your mod skills!

https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/123167 https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/123164 54.99? Is Toynami including an N95 mask and a travel-sized bottle of Purell with each order?

They have been doing their take on it with the HMR boxes....part of the HM-R(espect) of the line...the homage to their old school Bandai "Hi-Metal" line includes the placement of the window display and the use of awesome boxart that hasn't been used on a Macross PT VF-1 since...well, since the old Bandai Hi-Metal line!
-
I'd pay for custom Takatoku and Bandai styled boxes and packaging (styrofoam?) made to showcase some of the HMR releases. I tried fitting an HMR into one of these toynami retro boxes, but it would not fit.

Worse or better outlook for the run of this CCP Virus?
-
There probably should be a thread....but just not within the "Collectors" section, which I feel should focus strictly on just Macross.

Yeah...I think you had recently asked about original MSRP on some of these old TT toys....which is why I am wondering why I can't find my link to the TT catalog post. Will get my pics together and repost it.
