  1. Good to hear. ANN updated their post a bit. Forgot to add Ninjin loves you Yeah, and Voices (which I'm guessing was killer).
  2. So it was Yoko Kanno. Now I have even more reason to kick myself. Hope you guys are having a blast. I'm watching the Macross Budokan DVD at the moment. EDIT: So, trying to figure out a setlist from reports of twitter and some guy's (who seems about as familiar with what he just saw as a anyone reading a mere wikipedia entry. Wasn't even certain Kanno was the composer! God, that annoys the hell out of me) podcast, we've got Diamond Crevasse, What 'bout my Star duet, Aimo with Yoko Kanno, a medley, Styles ver. of Welcome to my Fanclub's Night, my Boyfriend is a pilot, Do You Remember Love, Lion, and Triangular. Sounds about right. Add in Infinity, Northern Cross, Universal Bunny, and Interstellar Flight, and just shoot me now. What'd you guys think? As if I'd have to ask. Hope the meetup goes well. My last shot to at least see the Megumi panel and get autographs fell through due to too many people backing out, so I'm definitely stuck here. Really wanted that launch poster signed, but oh well. I'll get over it eventually, I guess. About time I ramp up the job hunt and start planning a run to Japan. Oh, and thanks for the report, Jasonc! Can you at least answer the question of which figure it was. I can't help but be curious. Though I still need to find Sheryl's hat...
  3. Just found the video I'd heard of. It's from a phone, and after the fourth question (so i still don't get to know which figure ), but it's better than nothing. Enjoy, guys! http://qik.com/video/8472651
  4. Thanks. though i expect nothing at this point, and it's killing me even more to keep hope alive. Thankfully, there was some nice coverage of the May'n panel. pretty run of the mill stuff: favorite song (Diamond Crevasse), Sheryl or Ranka (not as insane as I expected actually, Sheryl naturally, though she likes Ranka, and totally skipped the shipping question), a few singing tidbits. She says she likes otaku. Apparently, someone gave her a Megahouse Sheryl, though I have no idea which one and assume it's the AlphaxOmega Don't be late one, since giving her "Rise Up" would seem weird to me. Transcript here: http://trappedinjapan.com/?p=378 I guess Twitter's good for something, though I'm still never regging. I'll post anything else of relevance since I'm torturing/sating myself with this. I've got to say that looking at the pictures and reports is giving me a bit more of a "being there" feeling that trying to avoid it would.
  5. Thanks for the write up. I feel your pain, having to just barely miss out on AX myself. Even though i have the slight chance of getting autographs thanks to friends, it's not the same as getting to meet them. I know if I were in your place, I'd definitely go to see them when I can. It's also interesting to hear about the diverging paths though it tends to remind me that tomorrow may very well be the first and only time they perform here. Nice to hear that Megumi's embraced her niche. It always amazed me how quickly she seemed to mature over the course of Frontier performance wise. Hope you feel better.
  6. "I will have to go if it's Mari" No word yet, though I wouldn't be surprised if it was.
  7. Thanks for the condolences, Mar. It's mostly a ride thing. Hell, in the strange chance I find a way down, you still have a spot open for a couple of people? I have an acquaintance thinking crazy things. Enjoy the con, and hopefully you'll catch the concert. I'll take any swag you don't want. Hopefully, my friend comes through and snags me an autograph or two, though I don't expect much. Little note, technically, another Bay Area MWer will be there, the friend mentioned. Dance's DJ Sandman is a lurker here. His friend, DJ Amaya did a remix of Lion, so you might want to check out Amaya's set if you can.
  8. As sad as I am to say this, looks like I'm officially having to bow out on the event. It's frustrating as heck given how close I came to it. I had a room, I'm technically registered (just not paid), I just don't have a means down. My only remaining option refuses to drive the four hours to get there. So I'm sunk since I'm without a ride. I'm pretty torn up about it for pretty much the same reasons Tochiru mentioned (I'm a big autograph nut, though just meeting them would suffice). Heck, that's just considering May'n and Megumi, and not counting Yui Horie, Rei Hiroe, Ozma, and all the others. Nothing's gone right, from the custom shirts not being printed up in time (not that it matters now) to my friend's badge art I spent a night constructing not even being used thanks to the dance department deciding on one design. So count me among the devastated. What with Fanime and all eating up cash, two months was just not enough lead time to make it down there. I pretty much have to figure out how I'm gonna cope with missing this one. Macross and AX are overwhelming right now. Between AX posts on Facebook, and the Sheryl figures I got from Fanime staring me in the face, it's not easy. I wonder if finally rewatching Frontier itself, or perhaps the camrip or concert DVD would help, or just depress me more. Hope you guys enjoy it. And here's hoping they make a return to the US in the future.
  9. The autograph schedule it up as well. Megumi and May'n each have two sessions, not counting the possible open session. http://www.anime-expo.org/programming/autograph-session/
  10. How's that affect your room? My plans are falling apart by the minute. I have a room for Thursday to Sunday, but just about no means down or to pay for it alone, so I'm looking at other options...
  11. Sorry to hear it, Tochiro, but the important thing is that you're alright. Hope you get better soon.
  12. For those curious, here's that shirt design I threw together. Though the vacation over the weekend probably sunk any chance of getting it made in time. I'm not even sure if I'll make the con anyway.
  13. Aside from the White bunny, I can't say I'm liking the repaints. That red's too bright, and the blue and green Ranka's kind of garish.
  14. If memory serves, they lamely ran the end of the Konishi panel right into the start of the Megumi panel. No offence to Ozma/Kamina, but Ranka takes priority. So many conflictions. As for May'n I'll be leaving NorCal early Thursday specifically so I can pick up my reg and make her panel. Everything's just bout set, I just need to hope the money holds past next week's Disneyland trip. Though I should be good. Thanks for the room offer, UN Spacy. Hopefully, I won't need it, since as it stands, I have one at the Millennium Biltmore (if you decide to come early to catch May'n, I'm sure my family won't mind me returning the favor and letting you crash that night). Hope to see everyone down there. I'm still not sure I'll be able to make the Yardhouse, since I do intend to see the Mell concert. You do have my number Mar, if you want to meetup for autograph lines or something. I'm also toying with the idea of making a custom shirt for the concert (I have friend that constantly does so, so it's rubbing off on me). I'll post it here if I do so.
  15. While likely, just because May'n's panel is Thursday, doesn't entirely mean her autograph session is. Yutaka Izubuchi had a panel on a Saturday, but signed on Sunday. There's also the free for all signing Sunday, but no guarantee she'll be there. Generally, the best bet for autographs is getting a ticket attending the panel (Izubuchi only signed for people at the panel).
  16. If I make it, it will be almost solely for the concert. Megumi and May'n are what turned this from a "like to go" into a "must go". The Black lagoon and Toradora stuff are icing as well. When's this Yardhouse meetup supposed to be? I hope to attend the Mell concert as well, so I may not make it. Though again, that's assuming I make the con to begin with. I may be able to finally secure rooms for the Biltmore. What's the plan for the OMNI, Un Spacy? As for Mari, I look forward to seeing her at SacAnime come September.
  17. Wow, I so missed this. I would've loved to participate. Nice entries.
  18. picked up two Sheryl figures for his birthday at Fanime, despite still being uncertain just how he feels about Sheryl.

  19. Yeah, they really didn't think that one through, did they? Having unpacked them, all doubts about the cash spent on Don't be Late are gone. Aside from the troublesome castoff, she'd worth every penny.
  20. Just got back from Fanime. Managed to pick up two Sheryls. After much agonizing over the price and all the other things I could get (including the Nyan Nyan Ranka), I decided that since I'd done everything to hold onto the money to get her to pick up the Don't be late Sheryl. As much as I would've liked to have gotten the Ranka, I'd been trying (and failing) to get that figure at a price I could afford. Hell, only one guy had it. I probably would've gotten Ranka if I hadn't found the Miss China (http://myfigurecollection.net/figure/2453) figure I wanted last year. More amusing, for my birthday, my friend got me the Rise Up Sheryl. So I actually have that delightfully controversial piece. She really is a nice sculpt. Hopefully, if I make it to AX, I can pick up a nice Ranka there to spends hours upon hours for Megumi to sign. With two high end Sheyls, the little gashipon ain't cutting it.
  21. I just finished it finally. Would've done so sooner had circumstances been different. Still, since I finished the Sazh costume I'd been working on for Fanime, and knew I was near the end, I felt it was appropriate. Almost did make it through . Loved the ending as it tied up just about everything, though I slightly wish the last image hadn't been spoiled on 4chan. All in all, I liked FFXIII quite a bit. Most of the characters do take a while to grow on you, and it takes a while to get the hang of the battle system, but I definitely enjoyed it. Out of the six FFs I've beaten (with 7 abstained for bias reasons), I'd probably place it around third.
  22. Not to mention that Maaya was there five years ago, and they don't often repeat guests these days. Mari makes the must logistic sense.
  23. Be sure to let us know. No more having to settle for the crappy cam rip.
  24. I have tickets in my queue assuming I can make (need to secure everything, room, etc.) Where'd you get the listing of how many tickets are left? I'm glad to hear that the masquerade is still free providing the most likely lack of sellout. Still messed up that Fanime's less than a week away, and I have to worry about AX.
  25. Yeah, charging for the masquerade is just bizarre. So 75 bucks only covers the panels, minor events and dealers hall. It's messed up.
