  1. He did seem kind of unimpressed by the whole spectacle, but maybe that's just in relation to Freyja going nuts. Even if he clearly does like to dance whether or not he actually realizes it. Clearly he's going to be pretty good at flying a valk, but he might not be terribly into it. There's that shot floating around of Mirage grabbing him by the collar lookin' super pissed. Rather than being pissed about him getting in a valk at the beginning of the series and saving the day, per usual, she's find out he could have saved the day and is pissed he didn't.
  2. I don't think I'd get too attached to the current setting! I bet part of the mood-change that was talked about for the next episodes probably involves Al Shahal not ending up in a good way. I'm guessing the Thurvel-Salan is a Chekhov's Thurvel-Salan, if you get my drift. Blowing up a city/cityship/planet is nearly a Macross staple itself. They need to get to the divided city (Windermere?) at the very least and Walkure seems to be involved at multiple planets. This 3 months of speculation is going to be interesting. I imagine it was the same after Frontier's preview... How about this one: The apples might be something! The bomber eats one! Freyja is from where they come from? To add to my list of desires: If there really is more Zentradi content I hope we see a Nupetiet-Vergnitzs again!
  3. I'm in your corner, at least, kajnrig. When I think Macross I usually think more "atypical" to more standard mecha shows and less reliant on the macho kind of heroism (The whole point of SDF:M, to me, is that winning the fight isn't the only thing you have to do to see peace). I feel like SDF:M treated women quite a bit better than most of its contemporaries, at least. Most Macross female leads have been above average by anime/manga standards. I'm excited for Delta...and I'm really not a big fan of the increasingly magi-science properties of music in the franchise. The magical-girl aspect is a bit ehhh to me (Like it seems a bit too dangerous...why not put them in a Valk of their own?). But, viewed from and in-universe perspective it's not like it's insane. Music/Fold-stuff do these things. I'm liking Frejya and Mirage for the main triangle (Already on team Mirage TBFH). The Walkure girls seem like pretty serious people, not just some flippant idols in a combat zone. There's some intrigue. I really dig that things are happening on a settled planet for at least some time. It's working for me. Things I hope for: A bit of planet hopping and some real world building in Earther-settled space. A fun ride. Mirage getting her timing down!
  4. Ok...so it's not exactly Macross but
  5. Mawaru Pengindrum The show to watch this season, for sure.
  6. There is the Pokemon aspect, they skip battle scenes for conversations on monetary policy. It's like Keynes vs the Chicago School the anime. And while I agree about Enma-kun, but I think you've got a serious case of nostalgia goggles filtering the new stuff.
  7. The model can do it because it's got feet on a swivel type thing. The animated version's engines don't do that, it can only stand when the legs are strait. The Quarter can sort of do it in space...I suppose the original could too.
  8. Most of my favorites are in here already...Cowboy Bebop, ROD. Hadn't seen Xam'd in here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMEQfbrDMbo Most Bones ops are quite good, when you thing about it (most of FMAs, E7, RahXephon, StarDriver) Or Planetes. It kind of defines epic IMO. From this season Ano Hana is probably my favorite. The ones I could find on youtube were all mirrored... here
  9. It already is. It has simply replaced cell animation...which is now basically dead for movies here.
  10. Natsuru is more dense than a neutron star. I loved the ending though, so ridiculous.
  11. Cool stuff ya got there. But why? I mean, I get the usage of some old technology. Records are in some ways better than CDs, tube amps produce different sound than digital stuff... Older cars have style, driving and engineering quirks you don't get these days. And the bad ones are, at least, cheaper. But...video cassettes are not better or even just different....they're worse. In, like, every way.
  12. QB actually makes the comment that it would be more efficient if things worked the old way when Homura is talking to him about it.
  13. This season is full of stuff with promise. Just caught the second episode of Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (or just Ano Hana). I feel like this one is going to be awesome. Estranged friends, a guy who's seeing a ghost but he thinks he's just insane.
  14. I think it's one of my favorite space operas. Snarky space elves are awesome. The second series looks a bit better. I really like the story for being sort of morally ambiguous. I mean the "good guys" are trying to take over the galaxy. Jinto is a traitor to his homeworld, and a real hero.
  15. I too hope for a sort of side-story sort of OVA. Sort of like Plus but around the MacF timeline. I really would like more about the colonized planets and Human society that isn't out on the frontier. You could do something sort of Bebop-y with a group of New UN police or investigators that hip around planet to planet, fleet to fleet. Throw in a terrorist plot centered on a big galactic pop star or something. BAM, love triangle and music. Because the trianglees won't necessarily be on the some ship it can be more about long-distance relations. Make the terrorists some protoculture worshiping cult and you can even get some ancient-backstory exposition. Might be harder to have a bunch of new mechs to make toys of...but those dudes are fairly smart, I'm sure they can think of something. Plus you can have a new Macross Eighth or Sixteenth or something. Or One of those neato diamond shaped carrier things (what are those called?).
  16. I want new characters and a new story. But at the same time I ache to know what actually happened to the megaroad because it's this huge "Wait..I though they were going to get a happy ending, now we don't know anything" I'd also want something that fleshes out the general state of humanity's expansion into space. How many worlds do we really have? How does the NUNS really work? I think a cool way to do this would be some kind of planet hopping intrigue story. On the way you learn what really happened to the megaroad...perhaps pick up a Hikaru/Misa decedent as one of the primary cast but not the MC him/herself. Cool twists on the theme could involve the MC being a captain/bridge guy of a smaller macross class, triangle includes valk pilot girl.
  17. I have to admit the teenager in me does want to snicker a bit about doin' it UMA-style or something.
  18. Don't miss the links on that page for a Ranka WRX and a Sheryl EVO.
  19. As much as more Macross is always good...I don't see much point to BDs of the original. Don't get me wrong, I'd love a high quality release of the original series...but can that really exist? Honestly...the animation is mostly terrible. Sure they can make it sharper and whatnot...but unless they reanimate the thing it's not really going to be any better. I don't see how there would be a market out there to justify fixing it up. DYRL and M+ are done well enough that a BD release would be ok, with thier OVA/Movie budgets. M7 would need fixing too, but not nearly as much.
  20. To me it seems kind of silly to pack a bunch of ground based combat units in a mostly space born fleet. Destroids a mostly worthless, except for point defense in space...so you only bring the point defense destroid that you might use instead of wasting time and money on the other stuff. VFs are simply far more useful for space fleets...to the point that a large destroid complement made obsolete. If they were fighting on the ground on a planet or something it might be different.
  21. After seeing the 2nd episode there is little doubt...it's not k-on in a new setting it's not even /k/-on (I though that nickname was quite cute, for those familiar with 4chan). Post-apocolyptic, 10 remaining spider tanks, a missing original 5th member of the platoon. and ghosts that will creep you right out. Plus a crazy awesome owl.
  22. From what I gather So ra no wa is supposed to have some fairly heavy "dieing world" vibe. The words "Now and Then Here and There" have been thrown around a bit. I'm gonna be on the lookout for dead cats.
  23. .... Why does anyone sing? ....
  24. Yeah, half-robot airplanes were quite the novelty.
