I want to watch clannad...but I'm having hard time acquiring it. Got After Story easily enough.

At first I was apprehensive about this show. But now it's like one part Macross idol singers, one part TTGL surpass the impossible/kick reason to the curb and one part fanservice parody. One of the better ones this season, for sure. Dan being a complete and utter idiot somehow manages to work, even though I normally hate those character types.

You're mistaking having the same premise for being a retelling. Music, love triangle, person unintentionally falling into a war/conflict, music/culture as a way to resolve conflict....all parts of the premise that spans basically all macross media (and yeah there are exceptions. A lot of the homage actually tells it in the opposite manner... EDIT: yeah I'm kinda angry about the reuse of footage too. They should have done it like DYRL but intentionally put it as a movie-in-universe. The finaly scene would be older alto and X watching it in theater.

It's about the most awesome tragicomedy thing I've seen (I'm watching the anime, apperently there are some fairly substantial differences, if not in story in character portrayal, from the novel and manga). That Offline Gathering 'arc' was some bit of a tearjerker.

I dono man...but I didn't get the impression that there was any bumping-of-uglies going on there. That's not to say it couldn't have happened, but it's ambiguous at best. Perhaps I'm just not paying very good attention. May be I'm just way innocent at heart or something.

Last week I watched Lova Hina. I've never really been one for the unwanted harem type stuff but watching Keitaro bounce around after getting whacked never got old for some reason. Then I read the manga, which gives some nice closure. At the beginning of the 13th volume everyone complaining about how naru and keitaro were all over each other and how they keep failing at gettin' it on in the 14th volume got me rofling. Going to start Welcome to the NHK soon.

I hate to go back so far in the discussion... But when does Misa sleep with Hikaru in DYRL? I never got that impression. In fact I never got the impression that poor Ichijo ever got any action in any version of the story except, perhaps, christmas.

Why do ya say that? At the very end, he ask Juiz for one more thing that we don't hear. Then there's the phone's static and he kind of walks off from where Saki is standing... I guess it doesn't make sense that he slips the phone into Saki's pocket in that case.

Well like I was saying...all of that "continuity" from EoE that shows up in rebuild might just be to mess with us. That's half the fun of Eva for me anyway - completely superfluous symbolism, wallbangers, weird foreshadowing and mind-fecks all around. Also, I didn't mean a direct sequel. More Groundhog Day esque - do this over until you get it right type thing.

We're on the verge of the 2nd movies release, aren't we? Forgive me I've not read the whole thread, but this seems the right place to discuss. I'm really quite curious about what Anno is actually doing here with this Rebuild stuff. Some say it's a remake, but there's actually fairly strong evidence that it's actually a sequel or something to that effect (red stripe on the moon, sea of LCL, outline of 'crucified' MP eva, Kawru's talking about the third not changing when he gets out of the box on the moon, Nerv's giant thing having a different mask/face, the one of the moon having lilith's mask/face, it opens with the sea of red that EoE ended with). I'm not normally one for conspiracy but we all know Anno is a Trolls with the capital 'T'. Also I see a horrible, horrible end for this new Mari chick because quite a bit of what I've heard points to her as a fairly well adjusted person that doesn't use/abuse/ice Shinji (though some of that comes from 4chan....soooo...yeah).

You weren't arguing that. You were saying nothing new is any good...and that is just as false as saying nothing old is good. There's plenty of good music (including hip hop and punk) and there certainly have been good mecha shows produced in this decade or very recently: Eureka 7, Gurren Lagan, Diebuster, some might cite Code Geass, but you millage may vary on that one...I'd call the two most recent Macross titles genuinely good. If ya go back to the 90's you get Eva and others. Sure they're slightly different in tone, you get the face faulting and all that. I'd certainly say that I'd like to see some actual adults/college age instead of the normalhigh(middle)schoolkid as the main character.

I'm fairly certain that the space aids is caused by exposure to vajra bodily fluids, not a humans.

I really enjoy the post war arc. You rarely ever get to see what happily ever after ends up being. Yeah, it's quite a bit less epic in terms of action but its certainly something I'm glad was produced, that series is better for it.

Never before has "Pics or STFU" been more applicable.

I know it's cool to rag on Eden of the east recently.... But I quite like it. It's sort of atypical and in the last two episodes it really grew the beard with the conspiracy and everything.

She's a cyborg in the Future. She was obviously already capable of parallel thought when we see those inside cyberspace/her head scenes. Plus the vajra seem a bit semi-autonomous (think about how we breath...control could be similar to that), kind of like RTS units.

You know that there's a remake of it airing right now. I haven't watched it (don't really care for the series myself) but it's supposedly much more like the manga. Psh...I'm in it for the eyebrows.

He could do something crazy and actually and take the story all the way though 2012 and then the disappearance. Guessing about fiction is one of those things that has always seemed kind of futile.
